“Us and Them” by David Sedaris is telling a story about a family who doesn’t own a television and a little boy’s response to the ordeal. A little boy and his family moved in from across the street from some neighbors who did not have a television. Now in the little boy’s house they had a television and watched it almost religiously. So, the boy starts to feel pity for the neighbors the Tomkeys. He tries to befriend the children, checking around trying to figure out what they all do in the evening if there is no television. He saw that the Tomkeys were forced to talk during dinner time because they don’t have television to entertain their family. In the other hand he thought that was terrible. Then towards the end of the story the Tomkeys leave
