Superbugs are diseases that formed a resistance to antibacterial. They result from nature and human behavior. A mutation has been inevitable since scientist discovered the cure-all, antibacterial. Antibacterial has saved thousands of lives and has changed life quality. Citizens have taken antibacterial for granted the past few decades overusing and misusing them. Hospitals use lots of antibacterial, every corner there’s hand sanitizer. Physicians prescribed 27 million antibiotics in Canada alone in a year. Specialists prescribed antibiotics to kill a virus; which causes issues. A sudden change from the parent to offspring with different characteristics is a mutation. These microorganisms are acting on Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. His theory …show more content…
Stronger bacteria will pass on their skills. Passing strong traits turns into a cycle that doesn’t end. Strains of superbug are common. One can get a superbug with a weak immune system: old, young, and sick. Most cases of a superbug occur while in a hospital where weak immune systems are common. Rarely, a strain has a form that occurs in the public. A superbug is Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA. Someone can catch MRSA in two places. The strain of MRSA caught in the hospital is HA-MRSA, and one catches CA-MRSA in the community. CA-MRSA has the symptom of a boil, the disease spreads through contact. Most strains spread through the lungs and that’s where they attack. People with issues in their lungs are susceptible. Hospital staff goes lengths to keep everyone safe. By keeping patients in isolation and enforce standards of safety. Visitors, including doctors, have to wear a suit and a mask on so they stay safe and don’t spread the disease. One superbug is VRE or vancomycin- resistant enterococci. VRE is like MRSA except for it is resistant to the drug found to help MRSA patients. This drug is vancomycin and is the last resort drug against

Superbugs In Hospital Setting

...This essay is about superbugs that can be found in a hospital setting. Because one out of every twenty patients admitted to a hospital will contract an infection according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it’s important to understand the science behind them. These superbugs are methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Clostridium difficile (C. diff), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE), Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and Carbapenem-resistant and necrotizing fasciitis. These infections can be costly, difficult to treat, even life threatening. The best way to prevent the spread of infection is a simple task that will only take everyone 60 seconds or less to do. Antiresistancee

...What Can We Do About Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria? Essay Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria is bacteria that has mutated and have become immune to antibiotics to treat them. In science terms Antibiotic resistance is the ability of a microorganism to withstand the effects of an antibiotic; this was said in an article called Antibiotic Resistance on Daily Science website. In all the scientific terms it is hard to understand exactly what all of this means, the simplest way to explain it is when antibiotics become ineffective it is due to natural selection evolving in random mutation. When antibiotics become ineffective to killing bacteria it becomes a problem, but how do we fix it and what are we going to do about it? What I have gotten out of the articles I have read. Scientists are studying all the possibilities and were of how to prevent genes from mutation so that we will not become immune to the antibiotics that we have to help heal the infections we typically encounter. There are a lot of studies going on, these are to develop a way to make sure that we do not meet a “superbug," meaning a disease or infection that we cannot fight off because out genes have mutated and we have no antibiotics or treatment. If we do not find a way to prevent our genes from mutating it could result in the extinction of the human race. So in order for that not to happen we either needs to find a way to prevent our genes from mutating or come up with antibiotics or treatments to fight these changes...
