...Vaux-Le-Vicomte (Louis Levau) Graham Benjamin Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a 17th century masterpiece, which demonstrates the vital progression in French architecture at the time. In addition, Vaux-le-Vicomte holds imperative significance in France’s architectural history as the first fully developed design with axially planned grandeur for which France became renowned all over the world (Ayers 368). Figure [ 1 ] (Portrait of Louis Le Vau) Figure [ 1 ] (Portrait of Louis Le Vau) Louis Le Vau was the architect of the Vaux-le-Vicomte. Le Vau was born in Paris and was the son of a professional mason (Gale 1). Le Vau lived 58 years (1612-1670) and was the originator of the French Classical style, which quickly permeated France during the 17th century (Gale). When he became successful in 1639, his attention turned towards developing the Île Saint-Louis as a residential province (Gale). Le Vau had been working his way to prominence by designing town houses for wealthy patrons like “Sainctot, Hesselin, Gillier, Gruyn des Bordes, and Jean Baptiste Lambert” (Gale). The Hôtel Lambert that Levau designed showed his great ability as an innovator by utilizing a creative plan to an extremely diverse site (Gale). ...List of birds of Minnesota From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search The Common Loon is the state bird of Minnesota This is a list of all birds ever seen in Minnesota, based on the list published by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union. The following markings are used: (C) = Casual: seen fewer than nine times in the past ten years but more than twice. (A) = Accidental: seen fewer than three times in the past ten years. (E) = Extinct; a recent member of the avifauna that no longer exists. (I) = Introduced: The species was introduced, either directly or indirectly, to North America through the actions of humans. Birds listed as either casual or accidental should not be expected to be found anywhere in Minnesota with regularity. Except for the casual, accidental, and review birds, only birds that are considered to have established, self-sustaining, wild populations in Minnesota or, in the case of extinct species, have had such populations in Minnesota in the past are included on this list. This means that birds that are considered probable escapees, although they may have been sighted flying free in Minnesota, are not included on this list. This list is presented in taxonomic order and follows The Check-list of North American Birds (7th ed., 1998), published by the American Ornithologists' Union. The family accounts at the beginning of each heading reflect this taxonomy, as do the species counts found in each family...

...When I first entered high school, I had no intentions of playing football. My friends who played pop warner had always urged me to play but I always decided to play baseball. One day towards the end of 8th grade I made the decision to play football. I remember the first day of weights during the summer, I was so nervous I almost felt sick. I knew a select few of people but had no idea how much I was about to change my life. When everyone reported that first day, we started off by lining up and taking attendance. I recall as I was standing there, an older burley man walked up and began to walk slowly past each one of us. It almost seemed as he was examining us like we were the “fresh meat”. As he walked by me, he looked me up and down, slapped my shoulder and kept walking. I thought to myself, damn, what have I gotten myself into. Once roll was finished, almost instantaneously this man began yelling in such a deep voice. He was running around asking how bad we wanted to be there and telling us how he was going to break us. Mid-sentence, he just flat out stopped. He cracked a grin while looking at each of us and said “ Guys, I’M KIDDING! My name is coach Hare and I will be your freshman football coach.” I will always remember that moment of relief when he said he was joking. Coach Hare after that become one of my idols. He epitomized how football coaches should conduct themselves. Throughout my four years playing football in high school, Coach Hare was my favorite coach. He knew...

...The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on 19 March 2013 approved the National Food Security Bill. The food security bill approved is directed towards giving the right to food to around 67 per cent of India’s 120-crore population. The amendments to the Bill will guarantee 5 kg of foodgrains per person per month, while families in the poorest of the poor will continue to get 35 kg of grains per month. As per the bill around 800 crore people will be entitled to get five kilos of subsidised grain per month. Rice will be made available at 3 Rupees per kilo; wheat will cost 2 rupees a kilo and cereal will be sold for 1 Rupees per kilo. The beneficiaries are supposed to be decided by state governments, while the criteria to exclude 33 per cent of population would be provided by the Planning Commission, Thomas said. The scheme will be linked to the Aadhar scheme which provides every citizen with a unique identification number that’s linked to a database that includes the biometrics of all card-holders. It is also evident from the present year budget, that 90000 crore Rupees is allocated for spending on food subsidies with the government setting aside an extra 10000 crore Rupees for the bill. In earlier versions, the Food Security Bill assigned subsidised grains on the basis of priority and general groups, which were demarcated on the basis of poverty levels. The Cabinet gave its nod to the 71 amendments proposed by the Food Ministry, including the one that said the...

...Aaron Conway First Year Experience 070 Instructor: Dr. Dumpe 09/08/13 “Dream Story” Picturing myself in the aspect of what I would like to be as an Adult has been diversely ever changing with physical and mental growth. With growth comes personal brand which everyone attains, yet unlike the logic of what I want to be, my brand has had limited or meager change over my life. Despite constant change in thought of future adulthood in the past, I believe I have permanently reached a central objective. Computing my personal brand with my target objective, success is assured to follow, insuring a collection of accomplishments. When I was roughly nine I was commonly asked the question of, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” No matter the situation or circumstances, I answered this question with the response of, “I am going to go to the N.B.A.” I was born with a basketball in my hands and have been playing and watching since diapers. This question was always obvious to me, until about the age of 14, when I eventually concluded my fantasy of going to the N.B.A. was a delusion. Since then, I have perpetually transitioned to a distinctively newer answer to this question. I respond to this inquiry now with the statement, “I intent on managing a considerable snowboard business such as Burton.” As people age into becoming an adult, a personal brand is created that represents you, and for most changes throughout stages of growth. My personal brand took a slight change recently...

...Antwone Fisher In this report I will analyze the film “Antwone Fisher” using four standard categories to fully analyze this media product, these are cognitive, emotional, moral, and aesthetic. Cognitive is the mental process and thinking which can be something based on your knowledge of being able to interpret a media product or scene, or can be more complex as to knowing how some media products are created in limited ways in order for them to be successful. Emotional catches the feelings of a person and being able to accurately interpret those feelings. Some lower levels of emotion are those such as hate, fear, and lust and these are easy to interpret and most people know them. Some higher levels of emotions are ambivalence, angst, and confusion. The third standard category is moral, the ability to infer the values underlying the messages. Moral is concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character. Lastly, the final standard category is aesthetic, which is the ability to enjoy and appreciate from the artistic point of view.
