Recently, I just finished the book Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie Tolan. The book was a very exciting read. Everything was well written and perfectly described. It’s definitely a book I would love to read multiple times.

The main protagonist in this book was E.D. E.D is a very organized and smart girl, or as the book would say almost like a corporate executive. In the book she really has trouble with her family and hates to be unnoticed. In chapter 8, while the Applewhites, Jake and Bernstein are sitting at the dinner table, Bernstein finds out that Sybil is an Applewhite by marriage he acknowledges some of the Applewhites except for E.D which causes her to be upset. During the book she does begin to learn how to embrace her individuality. She is very good with organization and making sure things are at their best. Towards the end of the book E.D helps with time management by making to-do lists and keeping charts and schedules which really helped in the amount of time they had to get things for the play situated. …show more content…
Jake is a very disobedient kid dealing with a lot of home problems. His parents were in jail for growing marijuana and offering it to an off guard sheriff’s deputy. Word has it that Jake burned down his old school in Rhode Island with just a lighter after his parents were arrested. He had also been kicked out of public schools Rhode Island. After he joins Wits End he begins to learn the meaning of life by observing the of the family, the ability to think things through, and also new talent which was singing. He first shows this talent when he begins to hum Rolf’s , a character in the Sound of Music, song. Randolph then stumbles across his ability to sing and he calls his voice magnificent which leads to his part as Rolf in the Sound of
