Q1. What aspects of active listening are suggested in Susan's blog and the UPE initiative? Active listening requires the listener to understand, interpret, and evaluate what he or she heard. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation and fostering understanding. In Susan’s blog, same concepts are applied setting up a satellite women’s network, running a large number of internal events, some targeting to skills development, some informative and some purely on social. UPE initiative is a philosophical approach to developing talent, instead of treating everyone the same, the firm has customized its approach to fit the diversity of its people and create a culture.
