Information System Briefing
There are many organizations that are look into to acquiring a new information system. The system will help with improving the efficiency and the safety of the patients. There are many factors that need to be considered for acquiring a new system in the health care organization. Although, some may believe that this is an easy and fast process for selecting appropriate information system. There is a process and steps that are taken to implement a new information system. There is stakeholder to consider and goals that will help drive the selection of the new information system.
The process for selecting and acquiring an information system

The first step of the process of acquiring an information system is recognizing that the organization is in need of an information system. Many organizations will look at many factors when acquiring a new information system the safety of the patients, efficiency, less medical errors, repeating services, improve on compensations, and to contend with other in the healthcare field. A new system can help with improving the efficiency, production, and help with cost reduction.
There will be a need for an implementation team. This team determines the scopes and what is the organization will expect from the new information system project. “One factor that has been indicated as crucial for success is the involvement of clinicians and other staff who will use the healthcare information systems throughout the planning and preparation stages of the design” The team will help plan coordinate, budget, and manage all features of the new system.
The first step in the process would have to be the planning and the analysis phase in this phase the organization will come up with a strategy to help solve the problem the organization has with present system. They will look over all aspects, especially if any technology is available to be used for solving the issue. The current system will be under complete analysis and find all of the current issues. Let one say the new system is needed. Then the organization will have to decide what functions will be needed for the new system this would be the design phase. The organization will decide if the system needs to be designed by an in-house or with an outside developer. Then will look over the vendors, contractors, or just health information system that is available on the market. The organization then will go over and review the profiles of the market vendors and contractors.

The system that is chosen must address the organizations problems with the current system. The cost benefit analysis is done and the information system is then selected consultations are decided and confirmed.
Then the next phase would be the implementation process. In this phase the organization needs to have the right resources to complete the tasks that will be needed for installing the new system. These tasks include testing, training, converting the data into the system and ensuring everyone in the organization is ready for the system first use.
The final step in the phase is the support and the evaluation phase this making certain the system is running properly, ensuring there is enough staff and resources are there to keep up with the new system to be maintained, upgrades, supported and all of the bugs have been worked out the system.
How the organizations goals drive the selection of an information system.

The organizational goals drive the selection of an information system is how this system will serve for the patients and for those that will be using the new system. A new system will help cut down on the errors that can happen. The system will be more accurate and will provide a high quality of care, and the information will be available all the time. The goals help reduce the cost of care while protection the quality of care. They will want to reduce the number of non-necessary procedures and errors that can occur these goals are very important to the process to have the best quality of care for the patient and maintaining budgets and cost for the organization. This will improve with getting the tasks accomplished faster and improve care for the organization.

The roles each of the organization’s stakeholders play in the selection and acquisition process.

There are many different roles when it concerning the stakeholders of this acquisition process; some are the providers of the payments of the system. This can be private funding, public funding, government, doctors, nurses, and patients. The provider will want the view the technical sense of the project. Providers want the accuracy of the diagnosis with the system resulting health outcomes.
. The payers will focus on the cost effectiveness of the system. Employers will want to keep the cost down and get their employees back to work quickly when implementing the system. The patient wants the compassion and clear and concise communication. These will be those that benefit the most form the system. The patient, physicians, and employees will be with direct use of the system, which helps pick some of the factors for the system and what aspects they want with the system and its use. “The goal of stakeholder analysis is to identify and understand the organizational roles present in the deployment of a new system.” King, N. E. (2008).
There are many organizations that look into to acquiring a new information system. The system is going to help with improving the efficiency and the safety of the patients. The system can also help with improving the efficiency, production, and help with cost reduction. There are certain steps that need to be followed when acquiring a new information system. There is a need to look over the vendors, contractors, or just health information system that is available on the market and going over the profiles. The system that is chosen must address the organizations problems with the current system. The system will be more accurate, will provide a high quality of care, and the information will be available all the time. There are many stakeholders this can be private funding, public funding, government, doctors, nurses, and patients. Everyone plays very important roles with the implementation of the system. Would he or she know what role one would play with a new information system?
