Gerald Wayne Smith is a husband, father, son, brother and homeowner that has lived in Roosevelt since 1991, where he currently resides. He has been gainfully employed with the Village of Hempstead since 1986. During his employment, he has worked in all facets of the Village of Hempstead and has grown through hands-on experience, knowledge and the respect of his peers. He began working as a part-time, summer help employee and with diligence, ambition and drive, he worked his way up to Sanitation Supervisor. His passion to encourage and give back to the youth of the community provoked him to start Tarrying Temple Outreach Ministry. This is a ministry where he personally pays application fees for youth that want to obtain their driver’s license.
