Right to choose a GP: Every person in the UK, irrespective of gender, race, religion/belief, sexual orientation, disability or age has the right to be registered with a GP of their choice as set out in the NHS Constitution the latest version of which was published in March 2011 (NHS Choices 25.04.15). Patients have the choice of which GP practice that they wish to register with although in certain circumstances a GP practice can refuse to register a patient, however, the patient must be informed of the reason for this refusal in writing. A patient also has the right to choose which GP they wish to see within the practice, although exercising this may delay their ability to get an appointment. Patients also have the right to change GP should they be unhappy with the level of care or service that they receive. Other rights that may affect this is the patients right to autonomy “Freedom to determine one’s own actions and behaviours”. In practice it is an obligation for us under our PMS contract (subject to the practices own policy on living outside of the practice boundary) to meet this right for the patient.
Task 3a) Right to refuse treatment: Every patient that is registered with the NHS has the right to refuse treatment or medication offered to them, as long as they have the mental capacity to make an informed choice. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 states “Everyone has the right to make his or her own decisions. Health and care professionals should always assume an individual has the capacity to make a decision themselves, unless it is proved otherwise through a capacity assessment.” A patient must have been informed of all the potential implications of refusing treatment. The choice to refuse treatment should be made voluntarily and be respected by GP’s and other health professionals. Children under the age of 16 also have the right to refuse treatment so

How Project Management Can Improve Service Delivery

...delivery. Governments in the vastness of their administration requirements are often unable to maintain either everyday or random tasks of service delivery. This could be due to various reasons, such as; lack of communication, misunderstanding the chain of command, individuals or groups being appointed to complete such tasks that have insufficient knowledge and/or authority required for the fulfilment of such tasks etc. etc. Such shortfalls on tasks as vitally important to a country as service delivery can cripple Government infrastructure and create political unrest amongst unsatisfied citizens. When we are referring to ramifications of this extent, it is imperative that governments / organisations implement safety measures that cover and maintain the correct execution of service delivery. Project management is a clear and concise method that can be implemented simply and cost effectively, and integrate simply into existing infrastructure. Basically what Project Management boils down to, is a simplified process of getting the right person, with the required authority and capability to manage a need, and ensure the fulfilment of said need. So instead of having various groups, reporting to various authorities, with regards to multiple tasks, you have one group of individuals, who have the relevant authority to delegate specific tasks. Service Delivery of Basic Education Curriculum Reform In a nutshell, service delivery of Curriculum Reform is referring...

Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility Essay Laurie Smith GEN 200 January 4, 2012 Adrianna Szymkowski Personal Responsibility Essay I believe personal responsibility is an important part of success. Whether the success I am trying to achieve is educational, professional or personal. If I do not take reasonability for myself I will not be successful in anything I strive to do. It is my opinion that an important personal trait to have is organization. I believe with proper organization you can achieve personal responsibility which helps you achieve success. I define personal responsibility as having integrity, accepting consequences and the effects that an individual’s actions have on others. To me integrity has three characteristics: being honest, having values or morals, and being self-aware. I believe it is a conscious decision to admit ones mistakes by telling the truth whether or not someone is watching me. Values are used to create an individual’s moral compass telling me what is right or wrong. I feel that many values a person has is often constructed by a person’s culture as well as the individuals that raised them; I believe that a person always has the choice to reevaluate and change their morals as they choose. For a person to have self-awareness I consider if the individual is not only reliable and trustworthy but also possesses humility and are humble instead of a sense of indulgent pride. Another trait of personal responsibility is accepting consequences. I consider accepting...

Raising Money for a Cause

...DETAILS OF TASK In the 21st century raising money for a cause has become one of the most common form of assistance offered to people in need. These activities have attracted a lot of interest from individuals especially those in leadership. It would be of no use if these monies were collected and used for the intended purposes. It is for this reason that am going to write a project on raising money for a cause. The project will involve organizing a fund drive which will be conducted in the form of a race to help raise money for humanitarian needs. ANTICIPATED OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE LEADERSHIP As leadership in action student, I find that the project will provide a good avenue for me to practice my leadership skills. I intend to chair a committee who will oversee that this project is a success. These opportunities will include sourcing for finances mostly corporate, liaising with the local authority or one of the institutions to provide an avenue for the race and most of all to coordinate the day’s activities. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The main goal of this activity is to practice the theories learnt in the leadership classes in real live situation. Interacting with people is one of the main aspects of leadership and hence, this project will equip me with the necessary experience. ...help on homework. Sometimes this trait is detrimental, because I end up spending more time and energy helping others instead of taking care of myself. Having this trait of being supportive, I feel working in a hospital environment where being caring and supportive would fit best for me as far as this trait goes. I have worked in a hospital before and really enjoyed helping others. I don’t agree at all with the career planner suggesting that I am teamwork centered, because I honestly don’t like working in teams too much. I prefer being assigned a task, and being the sole person responsible for completing that task. The drawback to working in teams is that there is always someone who doesn’t carry their own weight, which makes completing a task much more difficult. I spent six years in the military, and during that time much of the tasks assigned to us where team oriented. I didn’t like working in teams, because when the task wasn’t finished on time, the punishments fell on the entire team. So as far as being a team player and finding employment that involves a lot of teamwork, I have absolutely zero interest in a job that requires too much teamwork. Acrait according to the work culture preference program is a demanding job. So once again I don’t agree with this program suggesting...

...conclusions based on evidence presented can be drawn. SAMPLE CASE STUDY FOCUSING ON MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES: Management Case Study Introduction Throughout the study, Shelley’s class was well managed. Explanations and evidence to support the following six assertions regarding Shelley’s management style are presented: 1. Shelley did not focus extensively on behavior management; 2. Shelley monitored student behavior throughout lessons; 3. Shelley promptly dealt with potential disruptive behavior; 4. Shelley reinforced acceptable behavior; 5. Shelley was very tolerant of student interaction and discussion; and, 6. Shelley devoted a great deal of time to task management. Assertions and Evidence Throughout the study, Shelley did not focus extensively on behavior management. On most days, the students in Shelley’s class were very well behaved and seemed to be familiar with Shelley’s rules regarding classroom behavior. On occasions when Shelley considered student behavior to be inappropriate, she provided corrective feedback in the form of non-verbal gestures or short reprimands. Once the feedback was provided, Shelley continued with instruction and did not dwell on behavior. Examples of corrective feedback statements regarding the behavior of the whole class included, “Let’s get back into control,...

...article was very helpful because it showed and explained to me the key elements that are needed when conducting a good strong job analysis. This article showed me that I needed to include both essential and non-essential task descriptions. It also gave specifics on the type of equipment that would need to be used and physical demands as well as many other things to include in my analysis. I was honestly hoping this article would help me more. Though I found some of it useful, it didn’t really help me understand what exactly I need to do to gather the information needed in the job analysis. The second article I found was by Jody Wheaton. Her article is all about how conducting a proper job analysis can improve your business. In the article she describes different ways to actually conduct a job analysis. The thing I took from this article was mostly the importance of actually doing research into the job. Because of this article, I actually sought out the HR department and found out what kind of things they would actually need in an HR reception/assistant position. I wanted to know what kind of equipment they would be using and what exactly they would like that person in that role to do. Jody Wheaton states that “Knowledge, skills, abilities, work behaviors, tasks associated with the job, competencies and cultural aspects of the organization should all be part of the data collection process.”2 I was able to add some of these aspects into my paper as well, allowing it to be a little...

Scope of Practice

...The term “scope of practice” is defined as the actions, procedures, etc. that are permitted by law for specific professions. It is restricted to what the law permits based on specific experience and educational qualifications. In order to determine a task is within your scope of practice you need to follow three specific steps like define the issue, review laws, rules, standards etc and make the decision. When we get a task to do we must clarify the specific activity and we need to obtain additional information about the tasks like the policies and procedures in the facility. Then we have to do a self-assessment to make sure that we are capable enough to do that. Because once we accept the task, we were the one accountable for that. Sometimes common practices in the facility may not be legal in terms of the tasks by the nurses. Working outside the scope of practice could potentially a reason for the disciplinary action against our nursing license by board of nursing. Based on these elements we should decide whether we are willing to accept the consequences of our own action, if not do not perform the activity. When I started working in the surgical ICU after my orientation, they assigned me a patient who was 1st day post op after bariatric surgery. I knew that nurses needs to have bariatric surgery certification to take care of the patients. I did not have that certification that time. In addition, if anything happen adversely, the surgeon will definitely ask about the nurse...

It is imperative that we measure results of hard-to-measure activities as well as more simple activities in an accurate and simple way. Some of the simple key indicators that I would monitor and control are: -How accurately the schedule is being followed. -How closely are we to the predetermined budget? -How many tasks do we have left? -How many tasks have been completed? Knowing the answers to these questions will create key performance indicators that are easy to follow and interpret. A more technical approach towards key performance indicators might be: -Monitor business resources to assure they are being used in in a way that gains a return on investment. -Monitor process outcome in order to initiate process development and attain business growth. -Quality Assurance elements such as subject knowledge, technical abilities, task performance, effectiveness and efficiency on achieving project objectives, and attitude and communication skills among team...

The major aim of the policy is to ensure that individuals complete a task assigned within a given deadline. The policy has many merits. Primarily, it ensures that an individual keeps time. Thus, time management forms an essential ingredient of the No Late Work Accepted Policy and is particularly crucial in managing an individual’s career, and the improving an individual’s life (Jha 24). These supplementary materials may include videos or DVDs made by education-oriented companies and organizations, language tapes and computer software. And don’t forget that what you do with your leisure time can be very educational, whether it’s surfing current-events websites, watching a PBS series, reading a financial newsletter, or attending a play. 3. Find a good place to study. To determine what kind of place you need for studying, ask yourself the following questions: Do I need a quiet place? Does the telephone distract me? Do objects I see in this place remind me of things I should do? Is it too warm? Is it well lit? Am I too comfortable here? Do I have space to spread out my materials? You may find the library more conducive to studying than your home. If you decide to study at home or in your dorm, you might prevent interruptions by other household members by putting a sign on the door of your study room to indicate when you will be available. 4. Schedule time to study. To help you determine where studying best fits into your schedule, try this exercise: Make a list of your daily activities (for example, sleeping, working, eating, attending class, sports or exercise) and estimate how many hours a day you spend on each activity.
