It is important to ensure children and young people are protected from harm within the work setting because all children deserve to be able to live without fear of being harmed. It is very important that schools always provide students with a safe, friendly and positive learning environment. All schools have different policies and procedures that all members of the staff must follow to achieve this. Young children are not able to care for themselves and do not know how to protect themselves, and so they are more vulnerable. Parents need to know that their children are safe, and that they can trust all of the people who work with their children to look after them properly.

Child may only have clothes that are the wrong sizes and may never or rarely be clean. Low self-esteem.
Very underweight, undernourished.
Dirty skin and hair.
Hunger and trying to steal food.

Answer: It is important for all people working with children to know and understand all of the policies and procedures of their setting so that they know exactly what to do in each situation.
If a child makes an allegation of abuse to you, you should listen to everything that they say and be supportive. You should reassure the child that they have done the right thing by telling, and that you will everything you can to help them without making any promises to the child.
You should then report this information as soon as possible to the appropriate person, this could, for example, be the manager, supervisor or child protection officer. It is very important to record the events and information accurately, including the dates, names, places, times
