The definition of teamwork, work done by several associates with each doing a part but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole, poses a challenge to those building a successful team (Merriam-Webster.com, 2008). Among the many components involved in building a successful team, communication is one of the most essential. Scheduling and conducting successful team meetings are one way to the strongest team possible, without communication between team members, meetings would not flow, as they should, if they even happened at all. Listening and respecting to what the team members have to say even if the opinion may differ, is also a good way to support communication within a team. Encouraging individuality within the team members is also important. Everyone has different opinions and strengths that should be supported and highlighted. Finally being trustworthy and holding up your end of the bargain is critical to a strong team and communication with your team is a good way to achieve that goal. Scheduling and conducting successful meetings is one way to a winning team. Working in a group setting can be challenging at times because of time management and organization. When studying or working by oneself, the student is able to work at a steady pace creating an organizational schedule that is fit for their personality. When the dynamic changes, and the student is in a team setting, the tone changes drastically. The team being able to be organized and create a thorough plan for team meetings is essential. The importance in starting the team meetings with what the team would like to accomplish is also essential. Before starting the meeting, all members should be updated and informed on any information that would be important during the meeting at hand.
