Chapter one
1.0 Introduction
The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) is the accepted skill trainingprogram, which form part of the approved minimum academic standard in various degree program, diploma program, N.C.E. program for all Nigerian collages, polytechnics& universities. It is an effect to bridge the gap existing between theory and practical of engineering and technology, science, agriculture, medical, management and tertiary institutions.
It is aimed at exposing students to machine and equipment, professional work method and always of safe guarding the work area and workers in industries and other organization. The student’s industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) is a tripartite program, involving the tertiary institutions (colleges, polytechnics, universities) and industries (employer of labour).
1.1 The objectives of SIWES 1. Provide an avenue for students to acquire industrial skills and experience in their course of study. 2. Expose students to work methods and techniques in handling equipment and machineries that may not be available in schools. 3. Prepare students for he work situation they are likely to meet after graduation. 4. Expose students into different sections o areas that are related to their course of study. 5. Provide students an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real work situation, thereby bridge he gap between the tertiary institutions work and actual practice. 6. Enable students acquire manpower training in addition to the theoretical aspect learnt while in school. 7. Enable student provide great relief from drudgery.
1.2 Brief history of the establishment
KIN-ROYAL NIG LTD; was established in the year 1994 when the business enterprise started as a one man proprietorship business. It was initiated ad established by the owner and manager director, in the person of Mr. KizitoNzulumike. He started after learning the business from his tutor. The establishment was first sited in FESTAC town in Lagos. Ten years later, the company moved to its permanent site at Abule-Osun in Ojo local Government area of Lagos state. The company as at its inception started with few unskilled workers who were trained in due process to get acquainted with the job. Later on, as the company grew older, she began to employ skilled, trained and learned staff who pushed the company further. Infact today, we have graduates as staff working for the company. The company now has a manager, a deputy manager, a secretary and so on.
1.3 Location of the company KIN-ROYAL NIG LTD is situated in Lagos state of Nigeria. Is full address is as follows; No. 3 Alabukunstreet,ObaBabsAdekunleLawal Ave, off Irene Beach Rd. Beside Cridy International School, Opposite International Trade Fair Complex AbuleOsun B/stop Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

Chapter two
2.0 Introduction
The company (KIN-ROYAL NIG LTD) is solely into aluminum roofing sheet production and aluminum windows and doors profile. The company is not just into mass production of roofing sheets, but also engages in receiving contracts of roofing buildings such as ware houses, high storey buildings, private and government organizations, etc.
2.1 The company’s activities As I earlier stated that the company is solely into the production of aluminium roofing sheets and partly aluminium profiles, it entails that, all it takes to manufacture and use these aluminium products are done and carried out in the company. The whole procedures and various activities that ensure a successful roofing project will be discussed below.
2.1.0 Taking measurement Anybody could come to the company and then meet the secretary. The secretary then directs him/her to the manager. This certain person whom we refer to as a customer or a client will go into discussions of what he/she wants to the company to do, which is majorly roofing of their building(s). Some clients sometimes come with the plan of the building. In such situations, we (the other workers) focus on the plan head straight for the plan view of the building or structure. From the plan or top view, we look at the dimensions designated there and then begin to analyse which I would discuss later. While some other clients just come up with the proposal of allocating the contract of roofing their structure or building to us. In such case, we get the address of the client’s site (where the building or structure to be roofed is located) and the company assigns one of her staff to go to such address to take the measurement. The staff climbs up to the roof truss and positions himself at a point known as the kin post. The kin post is usually the highest point at the top of the building which enables the staff sketch. The measurement is usually done using a foldable tape and another staff assists by holing the tape at the other end.
2.1.1 sketching the sketching of a building or a structure is usually done from the kin post. The staff takes at least an A4 size paper with a pencil. He looks at the truss from the top and begins to produce an outline sketch of the building truss. After sketching, the assignment of measurements begins by measuring every detailed outline. The measurement standard is in meters. Hence all dimensions are in meters. But note that this sketch is not drawn to scale.
2.1.2 Analysis of sketch As the title implies, there are a lot of procedures in the analysis of a sketched building truss. Haven brought the sketch from the site, there are various calculations and computations done so as to minimize loss, minimize wastage of material (aluminium roofing sheet) and maximizing profit. In this analysis, certain standards are taken into consideration. For instance, the standard width of an aluminium sheet is 1.2m. But after passing through the corrugating machine, it shrinks to about 0.9m. Hence during computation or rather analysis of this sketch, 0.93m is used as the standard with because for every 1m length of aluminium sheet, we have 0.03m profit. The main aim of the analysis of this sketch is to obtain the total amount or length of aluminium roofing sheet that will cover the entire roof truss of the building in question. It is usually designated in meters. A brief illustration of a sketch and its analysis is shown below.

2.1.3 Preparation of quotation This infact is one of the most important aspects in the pursuit of the company’s achievement. It is a very delicate matter as well. The company has a customized company quotation booklet that carries every information about a clients demand. It carries such information as; the name of the client, address of the project site (not necessarily the address of the client), the colour of aluminium roofing sheet, the gauge of aluminium roofing sheet, the total meters of aluminium roofing sheetrequired to execute the contract, the numbers of D.S. nails (number of hooks in the case of metal rafters) needed, 2inches nail, number of sealant tubes, length of flash band, number of cupper nails, number of rivet pins, labour, transportation, contingencies. All these that I have stated, have their corresponding prices attached to them. As I earlier stated that there is always a fixed cost price for every 1m of aluminium sheet, pending on the gauge and the design pattern. At the end of listing each item with its corresponding price per one item and then the aggregate sum, the grand total is gotten at the tail end of the quotation sheet. The higher the total number of meters, the more cost effective the whole project is. This quotation is then looked up again and sent to the managing director for final clearance. The managing director then gives a discount, pending on how close the relationship between the client and the company is. Haven done all this, the quotation is sent to the client and the client responds appropriately. Hence the quotation serves as a kind of legal and evident document signed between the client and the company.
2.1.4 Mounting of jumbo coil Aluminium sheet coils usually come in very large rolls called jumbo. This jumbo coil usually weighs between 2250kg to 4000kg, pending on the gauge of that particular coil. There is usually a standard in identifying how many meters of aluminium sheet are contained in a coil. For every 10m of aluminium sheet, we have 8kg of such coil i.e. for a 0.5mm gauge of aluminium sheet. Due to this immense and heavy nature of these jumbo coils, the human effort or strength is usually risky and very cumbersome to manipulate and adjust this coils to the desire required.Hence we make use of the fork lift which is able to carry and lift tons weight of load with ease and to an appropriate elevation. Hence from the truck with which was used to transport the jumbo coils to the company, the fork lift carries them from the truck to the store. When they are to be worked upon, the fork lift also carries them from the store to be mounted on the rolling machine. In this case also, the chain jack is used to lift and push the jumbo coil to the rolling machine because there is usually a hollow on the coil that the rolling machine fits in.

fig 2: The fork lift.
2.1.5 Rolling out of flashings for bending We have now mounted the coil on the rolling machine. What’s next? Here the first thing that comes to mind is first, knowing how many meters of this aluminium coil is needed for the contract and how many meters will be rolled and cut out for the flashings. The rolling machine is automated and has a regulator for adjusting the speed (rpm) of operation. The machine begins to roll and the required length of aluminium sheet needed for the flashings is measured and cut out.

Fig 3: The rolling machine.

Flashings are like gadgets or very useful ornaments in aluminium roofing work. They are usually bent into shapes using the bending machine. The bending machine usually varies in length pending on the one affordable by the company. The one we have in the company is 4m long. Hence the longest length of flashings we can produce is 4m long. This bending machine can bend even a sheet metal as thick as 0.9mm, talk less of aluminium sheet. A brief description of the cross section of flashings and their standard guards we have will be discussed shortly. (i) 15

2.1.6 Corrugation of roofing sheets and claddings Here, there is also a very important task to be done which form the basis of the company’s existence. After cutting out the length of aluminium sheet needed for the flashings, the remaining on the jumbo coil is passed through the corrugating machine. It is this corrugating machine that forms the design or pattern on this aluminium sheet. The name of the corrugating machine we have in the company is called, industrial 6 corrugating machine. This is so because, the machine produces aluminium roofing sheets with seven ridges and six gutters. The very ends of the roofing sheets lock against one another when they are overlapped i.e. during the roofing itself. Pending on the design of the building, the roofing sheets are corrugated in different successive lengths. The corrugating machine has the ability of clean cutting the corrugated aluminium sheet at the desired length. The machine can be made to perform both automatic and manual operation. Haven gotten the desired lengths of roofing sheets, the next thing is to produce the claddings which is what the lay man calls, facial board.

Fig 4: The corrugating machine. At this point, the corrugating machine is stopped and the jumbo coil which has of course reduced in size is pulled out of the rolling machine with the chain jack. After removal from the rolling machine, the jumbo coil is turned the other direction so that the non-coloured side of the aluminium sheet faces upwards. The jumbo coil is pushed back into the rolling machine and the coil again is made to pass through the corrugating machine. In other words, the end result of the claddings is just the same design and pattern with the roofing sheets; except for their colours and their opposite nature i.e. the ridges and gutters in the roofing sheets becomes gutters and ridges respectively in the claddings. Also, the claddings are corrugated according to desired lengths pending on the nature of the building in question.

Fig 5: The corrugating machine with its control unit.

fig 6: The corrugating machine and the rolling machine. They are both aligned on the same axis so as to aid an easy process. The arrow indicates how the aluminium sheet roll enters the corrugating machine from the rolling machine.

2.1.7 Delivery to sites
Delivery to sites simply means the construction or project site where the aluminium roofing sheets are to be used. The company has a Mercedes Benz truck that is used to convey these roofing sheets with their accessories together. Most of the building or construction sites are usually situated within Lagos state. But the company also gets jobs from outside of Lagos state. Of course the transportation cost of these materials had already been incorporated into the customer quotation that was issued to the customer.

Chapter three 3.0 relationship of course of study to working experience
The training had a lot of experience, lesson, analogy and application to learn from. The various activities that I was engaged in made me understand more of the various courses I undertook while in school.
From the very first activity which was taking of measurements, the full knowledge of phy 121 was really employed there. Infact it gave me an upper hand in even converting very large units to smaller ones which made analysis even more convenient.
In the sketching and analysis of sketch activity, the knowledge of meen 201 and meen 202 were fully utilized in that you have to take actual measurement and represent on paper according to scale. Even after rough sketching from the kin post of the building, one still needs to neatly present it on paper according to scale and right position of dimensioning. A typical example is that which is in fig. 1.
The next activity which is the preparation of quotation, aers 201 played a major role and impact. This is because in a business enterprise, her sole aim of establishment is to make profit and to reduce loss to the barest minimum. In other words the course made to understand how the company made its profit, marketing of its products and even mapping out strategies in a way of suggestion to the company in making more profit.
Haven done that, the next which is mounting of the jumbo coil has a lot of techniques to tackle with. One of the major courses that helped me in this area is meen204 and meen 305. These courses helped me evaluate and estimate the relative strengths/stresses of the jumbo coil, the fork lift and the rolling machine. Come to think of it, if this stresses are not evaluated, there would be a lot of failures, thereby leading to several accidents.
Rolling out flashings for bending and development of flashes was another very important and interesting aspect of the whole process. A particular in meen 202 known as development aided my comprehension of the aim of these flashings. Infact, I even played a major role by impacting more techniques to what the company already knew.
At least the final for now which is corrugation of both roofing sheets and claddings is all the company depends on. The corrugating machine in itself is a bit complex because it makes use of both electric and hydraulic power systems. What boosted my understanding of the working principle of the corrugating machine is the knowledge I acquired from meen 206, meen 306 and meen 302 . The names of the courses are theory of machines and machine design 1&2 respectively.

CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 RECOMMENDATION It is my pleasure to have finished my student’s industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) program in a place where I immensely contributed, gained and achieved to and from the company respectively. Though it was pretty cool all the way, but there were a lot of hardships and strenuous activities. All these accrue as a result of poor attitude to work, lack of adequate facilities, poor maintenance, poor management practices, inadequate technical know-how, etc. I will recommend most especially to the company that industrial and managerial activities can be carried out in a more advanced way. I would like to advice at this juncture, that the quotations which they submit to clients or customers should carry along with it the sketch of the work or project. Of course, the sketch of the plan of the building or structure has to be in a more presentable i.e. auto-cad or solid works. Also the company should try and purchase a medium sized truck which she can use in conveying not too bulky goods. The company should also be ready to embrace newer ideas that will move her to the next level. To I.T.F as a body, I would like to attest to the face that the initiation of this exercise is a wonderful one. I don’t think that without this exercise or program, students would really appreciate the time and study they exhaust themselves with in school. I in particular really enjoy the whole exercise because it has really boosted my ego and has proved that the school I attended is not in vain. But on the other hand, I would like to admonish I.T.F on the fact that, in as much as students are granted the opportunity to go to wherever of their choice and practice or train, it isn’t enough to leave such student like that. This is simply because some of the students face a lot of challenges which can only be solved financially. Hence, if students who participate in this exercise can be offered a token by I.T.F at least monthly, it would go a long for such student to appreciate the training and contribute greatly not just to the development of that establishment, but also to the development of the nation in general.

4.1 conclusion Haven concluded my training and knowledge acquisition in KIN ROYAL NIG. LTD, the sole aim and objectives of SIWES was achieved. I acquired an experience that blossomed me to the status of a contractor at the instance of which I became on my own. I gained immensely in the acquisition of field and site work which exposed me to much more practical facilities and techniques. I am now able to co-ordinate affairs that surround a project and even execute a scheme. Precision and miscellaneous losses are enhanced and avoided respectively. At last it has come to an end that my period of six months has meant a lot to me. My experiences gained will last long in the memory of my life. It is worth an experience and I praise God for granting me success.

...An encyclopedia (also spelled encyclopaedia, encyclopedia or encyclopædia) is a type of reference work – a compendium holding a summary of information from either all branches of knowledge or a particular branch of knowledge. Encyclopedias are divided into articles or entries, which are usually accessed alphabetically by article name. Encyclopedia entries are longer and more detailed than those in most dictionaries. Generally speaking, unlike dictionary entries, which focus on linguistic information about words, encyclopedia articles focus on factual information to cover the thing or concept for which the article name stands. (Wikipedia, 2014) The word encyclopedia comes from the Koine Greek transliterated enkyklios paideia, meaning "general education": enkyklios, meaning "circular, recurrent, required regularly, general" + paideia, meaning "education, rearing of a child"; it was reduced to a single word due to an error by copyists of Latin manuscripts. Together, the phrase literally translates as "complete instruction" or "complete knowledge.".Ibid. The word encyclopedia, which to us usually means a large set of books, descends from a phrase that involved coming to grips with the contents of such books. The Greek phrase is enkuklios paideia, made up of enkuklios, "cyclical, periodic, ordinary," and paideia, "education," and meaning "general education." A mobile adhoc network consists of mobile nodes that can move freely in an open environment. Communicating nodes in a Mobile Adhoc Network usually seek the help of other intermediate nodes to establish communication channels. In such an environment, malicious intermediate nodes can be a threat to the security of conversation between mobile nodes. The security experience from the Wired Network world is of little use in Wireless Mobile Ad hoc networks, due to some basic differences between the two Networks. Therefore, some novel solutions are required to make Mobile Adhoc Network secure. 1 2 2.1 Mobile Adhoc Networks Introduction Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) is a collection of independent mobile nodes that can communicate to each other via radio waves. The mobile nodes that are in radio range of each other can directly communicate, whereas others needs the aid of intermediate nodes to route their packets. How to Write a Report

...ENHANCE YOUR REPORT IMAGE Whether in school or on the job, you must prepare and present reports. Written reports create an image of you – on paper. To achieve the most positive image, written reports must be prepared carefully and presented forcefully. To prepare an excellent report, Clippinger (1995, 11-12) suggest five equally vital steps that must be taken in the order listed: (1) plan; (2) draft; (3) revise; (4) edit; (5) format. Plan the Report To plan, ask: What is my purpose for writing, and what is the reader’s purpose for reading what I write? The answers become the core of the message. Compose and key the core idea. Then as they come to mind through listening, reading, and thinking, jot (on the computer screen) ideas and facts that related to the core idea. Next, check the list for missing items (and add them), unneeded items (and delete them), and redundant items (and combine them). Put the items in psychological order (main point followed by details, usually) and arranged them logically (in chronological, geographical, or importance order, for example). Finally, check the list to see that the items are tied together and related to the core idea. When appropriate, use tables, charts, or graphs to condense data; then list only summaries of what the visuals reveal in greater detail. Draft the Message To draft or compose the message, pretend that the reader is sitting before you. Write (at the keyboard) as you would talk with that person (level...
