...One Night at a Frat Party When some tells you about their night, and how they went to a frat party, most people have an image that pops up in their heads. You might see a bunch of scantily clad girls dancing around, a group of brothers at the house watching, or maybe even a bunch of people playing drinking games. Well I’m here to tell you that you’re in fact correct in your assumptions… for the most part. This past Friday I was invited to attend a fraternity party at the Delta Sigma house on Albion College’s campus. This specific party was being held to “break in” the first semester of the New Year. Let me define to you exactly what Electronic Dance Music really is. It a set of percussive electronic music genres produced primarily for environments centered in dance-based entertainment, such as nightclub settings. The music is largely created for use by disc jockeys and is produced with the intention of it being heard in the context of a continuous DJ set; wherein the DJ progresses from one record to the next via a synchronized segue or "mix". The United States Military authorizes protocol Wildfire, which is intended to investigate biological threats with an extraterrestrial origin. They take the 2 survivors of Piedmont (Peter Jackson, a man in his 60’s and Jamie Ridder, an infant), along with the crashed satellite, to a Wildfire laboratory for further examination, where they conclude that the disease arrived on the satellite via a meteor carrying the pathogen causing a direct impact with the satellite. The scientists discover that the virus, named Andromeda, can only grow in an extremely small pH range, which is the reason why Peter Jackson and Jamie Ridder were able to survive the outbreak, as they both have blood pH ranges outside the bacteria’s range (which is also the normal range for human pH levels). The microbe mutates, and while this new iteration is not lethal to humans anymore, the mutation allows it to degrade the lab’s plastic containment cells and escape to wreak havoc on the facility. Discovering how all the inhabitants in the town of Piedmont died, except for two, was a stressful process that was worked on by the group of scientists. They were to look for the answer through clues and discoveries. Two scientists look around Piedmont with no ideas on where to begin looking for clues. They entered Piedmont worried about the amount of work to be done, “They were painfully aware of how much there was to learn, to do. Some catastrophe had struck this town, and they must discover all they could about it. But they had practically no clues, no points of departure” (Crichton 85-86). It was very stressful arriving into Piedmont, especially when they had “no clues”. They were to find many factors in the town that would contribute to finding a prevention, so the endangerment of other people was in their hands. Stress from events like these may cause or foreshadow anger. Some of the scientist were annoyed by the long wait before they could start their work. Hall was fed up as he was being checked, “Hall became angry; it was all so damned unnecessary. But the doctor shrugged and kept saying, ‘It’s routine’” (Crichton 145).
