Recent advancements in technology have made big impacts on what is trending in society. Out of all of the trends though only a few stand out to me, Auto Intelligence like “Siri”, Virtual Reality like Oculus, and Global Positioning Satellites. In the field of study I am pursing all three of these would be a huge benefit, but the two I chose to right about are the AI and the Virtual Reality. Virtual Reality like the “Rift” system from the company Oculus is a fast growing market with large companies’ now start to create their own systems. The “Rift” system is currently used for mostly gaming, but I believe that one day in the near future a company with make it useful for a large variety of things. According to Forbes.com even Mark Zuckerberg, chairman of Facebook has said “Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face—just by putting on goggles in your home.” And with that kind of backing you know the technology has very great potential. We will be able to learn better by being immersed in a world where the instructor can teach us by showing use in real time what they want us to see. I mean just think of how awesome that would be as a teach also, taking your students on a “Magic School Bus” like tour of the inside of a computer. So I hope one day the virtual reality makes it way to improve our lives like so many other technologies already have. Everyone know how much easier Siri has made live with the use of voice recognition and Auto Intelligence, but they forget how powerful it can be. Auto Intelligence can be a useful tool if you know how to use it and teach it how to search for the stuff you want to find. Now we have self-driving cars, and robots that can do just about anything. Before though the robots had to be programmed and would only follow a set of directions a human had input, but now they can think for themselves to an extent. It’s kind of scary when you think about it, but it is also really helpful. The auto intelligence used for these robots can make them think about the future and if a problem arises they can execute a different procedure to prevent it from happening. Also some of them even have emotions, but I digress, they real reason they would be good in my field of study is that I can use them as a tool to help me complete boring repetitive tasks. Robots don’t get tired or bored so it would be perfect for them to do it. So in conclusion to my research, I would say auto intelligence and virtual reality would be a great benefit, because of the ability to do boring and repetitive tasks and being able to show me how stuff works in real time. I think the virtual reality would make a bigger impact in schools, but auto intelligence would definitely win in the workplace. Each have their pro’s and con’s, but I think the pro’s outweigh the cons by a long shot.

U.S. Education Today & Tomorrow

...U.S. Education Today & Tomorrow This paper reviews four important trends in our educational system today across America and discusses the impact of these trends on our future educational system. We live in an ever evolving world with constant changes that are affecting every aspect of our lives daily. Our educational system has not been immune to these changes and shouldn’t be since these changes and our ability to adapt to these changes will determine our future academic success and our place in a global society. Trend 1: Diverse & Older Population America has always been a melting pot of diversity, but current statistics show that in the near future minorities will become the majority percentage of the population (Pearson, 2010). Immigration, legal and illegal, have been substantial for a long time now and is changing the needs that educational systems have to address. For example, the need for qualified and minority teachers who can teach English as a second language will and does continue to grow (Pearson, 2010). Educators will have to adapt to this also by being more sensitive to various cultures and perhaps re-evaluate the current curriculum to promote multicultural literacy. Furthermore, the number of people that will retire will be doubled by the year 2050 and there will be fewer people of working age paying into the tax system that helps support education and elder services (Pearson, 2010). Because of this, financial constraints......

...Information Systems and Technology Trends Occurring in the Workplace Nancy M. Gonzenbach Southern Illinois University Carbondale Information Systems and Technology Trends Occurring in the Workplace Introduction The advancement of technologies in business is changing the world of work. Businesses find they must incorporate many of the new technological procedures, processes, policies, hardware, and software into their environment to remain competitive. The impact from these technological advances on how work is performed affects the workforce far differently now than what has been seen over the past 25 years. One of the greatest impacts has been on the workers themselves, and the challenge of training and preparing to remain abreast in today’s workforce is tremendous. This challenge, which is facing today’s workers, is something educators cannot afford to ignore. Technology has created a revolution in today’s educational environment, and this change in education makes teaching more rewarding and far more challenging (Bryant, 2001). Review of Literature The field of information systems is constantly changing, and these changes are impacting the way workers think, the processes and procedures used to accomplish wo rk, and the tools used to accomplish goals needed to be competitive in the workforce. For this and other reasons, training institutions and employers have accepted the need to seek mitigatory steps to bridge the gap. Among other steps, institutions of learning have introduced internship programmes also referred to as field attachment in some of their degree and non-degree programmes. There has also been the realisation that imparting the relevant practical skills is a partnership between the training institution and the prospective employers through student internships. However, despite these positive intentions, interns on field attachment have faced serious challenges among which are insufficient time and lack of funding for the programmes. It is behind this background that the present study sought to establish the benefits and challenges faced by student interns at the Zimbabwe Open University. The study focussed on two of the university`s faculties: the Faculty of Science and technology and that of Applied Social Sciences...

Research Paper About Management Information System

...Management Information Systems - Westminster College - Fulton, Missouri  Why Study Management Information Systems (MIS) at Westminster? * Our MIS program builds on the strengths of our Business and Computer Sciences offerings as well as our liberal arts education.  Classes blend theory and practice in “hot” areas—issues and technologies that researchers and practitioners are currently interested in. * Each class is uniquely designed for Westminster, in response to recent scholarly findings and rising trends in the field. * Courses are not technology driven, though technology is adequately integrated into the major.  Therefore, students never have to play catch-up with technology that is imposed externally.  Instead, all discussions are driven by business strategy and user needs.  * Majors become user and data advocates who understand that the most critical elements of an information system are not hardware and software, but the people and information. * Dr. Phelps, who designed and implemented the major, has degrees and research, and consulting experience in all of the relevant fields of MIS: business, decision science, computer science, and information technology.  So, “knowing a little about a lot” allows her to see the best benefits of these synergies and bring those synergies into the classroom. Major Highlights In your formal MIS studies, you will learn organized approaches to gathering, processing, and presenting information, in order to improve...
