1. Characterise the victim/girl.

The victim is dressed like a hugger. If you look at the close it seems dirty, and it looks like she got raped. She looks poor, but also like she could be pretty if she had taken car of herself. If you ask Grace McColl she looked like nobody had taken car of her, like her parents were dead, or didn’t existed for her. She has had a difficult childhood, and has been let down so many times, so she doesn’t really trust other people anymore. And the way she talks to people isn’t as pretty as it could be.

2. Characterise Grace McColl.

Grace McColl is a very strong willed detective, who keeps her mind on the job and the goal (to find the killer). She like her job and like to help other people. Just like the victim/girl, she also had a difficult childhood but she manage to get over it and got an education and a real life job. She can relate to the victim, and can tell a lot of things because of that. She know how it is for the girl, she know how it is when you can’t trust anyone.

3. Discuss the difference in gender roles between the victim and Grace McColl.

The difference between Grace and the victim is that they both had a hard and difficult childhood. The effect it had on the victim was just a lot different, than the effect it had on Grace. Grace grows up and got a job, and a life. The victim ended up just like her parents. It’s like the social heritage, some manage to break it, and some don’t. some place they are just a like, but just grew apart, and chose different directions.

4. Comment on the dialogue (e.g. who is talking, use of slang, etc.). How and where does the real dialogue take place? Where in the story is the truth behind the dialogue revealed to the reader?

The dialogue is between Grace McColl, and the victim/girl. Grace asks the girl a lot of questions because she wants to find the

Once a Virgin

...Tell me why, Burnham ivyjaneredsapon The ambiance implicitly covers the longing for a precious treasure shivering in the heart of a mystique person. When I was young, I always let my soul travel in the exotic beauty of my beloved country. It made me perspired when I first laid my eyes to the popular city of Baguio, the Summer Capital of the Philippines, in just a picture of the notebook that I used to see. I wished of stepping my innocent feet unto the rare land that was sought after. I wished of gasping the air and of tasting… the life it may gave as I savored the moment. These wishes, I guess, was a strong proof why I was very much overwhelmed upon seeking the opportunity of going to it. Indeed, the happiness and excitement that kept me alive could not find a place, for sure. This awaited advent lasted for more than seven hours, as the trip passed from places that I considered as a gateway to heaven. First was the city of Santiago. It did not change yet. The beauty of the remarkable spots such as the well – established buildings still thrill me. On contrast, as the wheel ran ahead, the bare faces of the street children never change the thought of mine that this city is not yet a perfect place to praise. Next was one of the precious marks of my ingenious province – Cordon. Upon laying my eyes to the soothing and relaxing farm of it, I swear of coming back in Isabela for I was a lucky person who lived with the heart of it. The feeling arose when the van stopped at a gasoline...

Don't Tell Me I'M Not

Just because I’m 5’5 and would rather stay in and read; then play outside don’t tell me I would never make the team. Just because I’m slow to speak and in crowds I tend to blend; rather than be the life of the party don’t tell me that I don’t deserve to be heard. My mother a janitor and my father a mechanic; hardworking but doesn’t come from money don’t tell me I can’t be a doctor. The youngest of three; my sister a model, my brother a star of tomorrow don’t tell me my future is anything less. I struggle with my weight; my mom trades my burgers for grapes. I walk down the hall, they point fingers, laugh at my temporary state, just because I’m 15 and overweight don’t tell me I could never be Miss USA. When I speak I stutter, one word becomes an echo of many. People poke fun call me retarded, but feelings I’ve got plenty. Tell Me About Blood

...Tell Me about Blood Lucrezia Stoner ITT, Strongsville Tell Me about Blood 1) A lower than normal hematocrit or anemia means that the percentage of red blood cells is below the lower limits of normal. It could be as a result of internal bleeding, nutritional problem or over hydration. 2) When there is a bacterial infection, the hematocrit is raised. Lymphocytes are types of white blood cells. They are the body’s primary immune defense and move through the lymph in response to antigens and pathogens. T-cells originate in the bone marrow and migrate to the thymus to mature; B-cells also originate in the bone marrow and migrate to the lymph tissues to mature. 3) Erythropoiesis is the production of red blood cells. This process begins with myeloid cells that differentiate into myoblasts (an immature white blood cell of the bone marrow) orproerythrocytes (an immature red blood cell). There are several factors which influence and regulate erythropoiesis: Erythropoietin- (EPO) a hormone secreted by the kidneys which stimulates the bone marrow to increase differentiation of proerythrocytes and thus increase erythrocyte production. Intrinsic factor- or erythrocyte-maturing factor, which the stomach secretes to facilitate erythrocyte maturation. Vitamin B12- also called the extrinsic factor, which interacts with the intrinsic factor. Iron- an essential component of hemoglobin (the protein complex within erythrocytes that binds with oxygen) 4) A person with type O blood...

Tell Me About Blood

...Unit 1 Case Study 1: Tell Me about Blood Christie Wolford Breckenridge School of Nursing The normal range of hematocrit (percentage of total blood volume occupied by red blood cells) is 38-46 for (average) females and 40-54 in (average) males, a lower than normal hematocrit indicates anemia; a less than normal percentage of red blood cells occupying the blood volume, red blood cells carry oxygen. When there is a low hematocrit that means that there is not enough oxygen being circulated throughout the body because there are not enough red blood cells. When there is a bacterial infection the hematocrit are not affected, red blood cells are transporters, not defenders. Hematocrit is only the percentage of red blood cells contained within a sample and no other cells. The bacterial infection will cause there to be an increase of white blood cells, as they are the ones on the “front line” of invasion protection. (Jenkins, Tortora, 2013) Unlike red blood cells; white blood cells have nuclei and a full set of other organelles, but no hemoglobin. (this is a given as hemoglobin is what gives red cells their color)Lymphocytes are agranular leukocytes, meaning they possess cytoplasmic granules. All formed elements develop from pluripotent stem cells, however lymphocytes derive from lymphoid stem cells rather than myeloid stem cells. Lymphoid stem cells begin development in the red bone marrow and complete it in lymphatic tissues creating lymphocytes and natural killer cells. Lymphocytes...

Tell Me About Blood

...Tell Me About Blood Dayna Fultz December 12, 2015 ITT Technical Institute 1. What is the significance of a lower-than-normal hematocrit? What is the effect of a bacterial infection on the hematocrit? First, hematocrit is the percentage of blood made up of red blood cells. This is usually measured by centrifuging a blood sample in a graduated tube. Then, reading the volume of red blood cells and dividing it by the total volume of blood in a sample. A significant drop in hematocrit is an indication of anemia (lower-than-normal number of red blood cells. A bacterial infection would increase the production of white blood cells to fight off the infection. The hematocrit would have a thicker buffer layer causing the red blood cell production to slightly decrease which would decrease the ratio of red blood cells to whole blood volume. 2. Compare the development of lymphocytes with the development of the other formed elements. Lymphocytes and the other formed elements are developed from pluripotent stem cells. The pluripotent stem cells generate myeloid stem cells and lymphoid stem cells. Myeloid stem cells start and complete their development in red bone marrow and give rise to red blood cells, platelets, eosinophils, basophils, neutrophils, and monocytes. Lymphoid stem cells begin development in the red bone marrow, but some are completed in the lymphatic tissues, where they give rise to lymphocytes. The B cell lymphocytes begin and finish in the red bone marrow and the T...

Tell Me About Blood

...Unit 1 Case Study 1 Tell Me about Blood Paige Keegan March 24, 2016 ITT-Technical Institute 1. How does the volume of blood in your body compare to the volume of fluid in a two-liter bottle of soda? In the average-sized male the blood volume is 5-6 liters and 4-5 in the adult female. (Pg. 616) 2. What is the significance of a lower-than-normal hematocrit? A higher-than-normal hematocrit? Lower-than-normal hematocrit indicates anemia. Higher-than-normal hematocrit indicates polycythemia. (Pg. 619) 3. How is the development of lymphocytes unique when compared to the development of the other formed elements? B Lymphocytes develop in red bone marrow, T lymphocytes develop in red bone marrow and mature in the thymus; the other formed elements develop in red bone marrow. 4. How are red blood cells able to squeeze through capillaries that are smaller in diameter than they are? The cell membrane is strong and flexible, so it can deform without rupturing the cell. (pg. 622) 5. Why do red blood cells live for only about 120 days? Because of the wear and tear their plasma membranes undergo as they squeeze through blood capillaries. (pg. 622) 6. What is erythropoiesis? What factors speed up and slow down erythropoiesis? Erythropoiesis is production of RBCs. Erythropoiesis is speeded up when oxygen delivery to the kidneys falls and slows down when there is sufficient oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. (pg. 624) 7. What would happen if a person...

Tell Me About Blood

...Activity 1: Tell Me about Blood Low hematocrit levels, AKA anemia, indicate a low percentage of red blood cells in the blood. The effect of a bacterial infection would be a decrease in hematocrit levels. Leukocytes can be formed in several locations thought the body. The thymus, bone marrow, and spleen all produce leukocytes. The other formed elements are developed through red blood cells or fragmentation of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. Erythropoiesis is the formation of red blood cells. Erythropoiesis speeds up when oxygen delivery to the kidneys is reduced. This triggers a negative feedback system that speeds up the process until kidney oxygen levels return to normal. Type O blood is known as the universal donor because any other blood type can safely receive a transfusion, with no negative effects from this type. If a person with B blood received a transfusion of O blood everything would be fine. A. This WBC is a lymphocyte. Its primary function is producing antibodies. What is the effect of a bacterial infection on the hematocrit? A significant drop in the hematocrit indicates anemia, a lower than normal number of red blood cells (RBCs). Lower values in women during their reproductive years also may be due to excessive loss of blood during menstruation. A bacterial infection would increases the production the number of White Blood Cells (WBC), because the WBC are fighting off the infection may affect the hematocrit by lowering it. 2. Compare the development of lymphocytes with the development of the other formed elements? It is up to myself to figure out the plan God has planned for me and it is important for me to know that God will be with me through it all no matter the circumstance. In order for me to discover my divine design, I first must understand myself as well as my strengths and weakness in terms of interaction with people, the way I learn, the way I make my decisions and how I deal with the world around me. Right now God is asking me to be the best person possible. He brought me to Southeastern for a reason and I am still trying to figure out that exact reason but it feels right being here. I love to be around my close friends and listen to what they have to say and then give them advice about life and the things going on around them. I am an extroverted person so I am not very shy. I believe that in the future God’s plan for me is to be around a group of young adults, maybe young kids or high school aged (young adults). I love to interact with people and I get my energy from others so being around a young group of young people would be perfect for me, kind of like a small group that gathers once a week and just talks about life. God has given me multiple spiritual gifts, but one that I really like is always bringing a positive and happy vibe to a group of people, normally my friends. Tell Me Why Information Technology - It

...Tell me Why IT? (Lecture: 01) Following is an excerpt from the webpage https://www.freelock.com/newsletter/informationtechnology-business-big-picture Computers and information systems are essential parts of every business today. Like accounting and legal, every business needs to invest in technology to compete. Technology is both a cost of doing business, and an opportunity to do more business. Most people you meet and talk with recognize the necessity of having a computer, an email address, and a web site, but still look at the upfront cost more than other issues. After spending some time working with dozens of friends involved in businesses, one can think now it's time to take a step back and look at the big picture of technology in business. Let's take a reporter's view of the topic, and ask the basic questions: who, what, where, why, when, and how much? Why? What are the benefits of technology for a business? There are many, but most fall under a few categories: • • • • • Reach more potential customers, develop a business relationship with potential customers Streamline operations, reduce costs, improve efficiency, maximize profit, minimize waste, devote talent to core business instead of overhead Provide better service to customers Support better relationships with key partners Allow customers to better guide the business The very first question businesses should ask before spending any money or time on technology is, “why am I doing this?” If there is not a core business...

It was grade 7, and I was studying the usual courses of mathematics, english. But what was not usual was that, I had recieved a poor grade in Computer Studies in the finals of grade 6, and my parents were called at the beggining of the new session of grade 7.
