Herndon Davis has done this work in 1936. The reason I want to write about the Teller House is that I want to refresh the awareness of our local historic

...Comparison Matrix Paper Brooke Waters Grand Canyon University: LDR-802 October 22, 2014 Comparison Matrix Essay This paper compares two studies dealing with leadership strategies in work-related settings. Although the settings vary, the study of management approaches and job satisfaction are similar in each. Charles Emery and Katherine Barker’s article, “The Effect of Transactional and Transformational Leadership Styles on Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction of Customer Contact Personnel”, assess the effect of transactional and transformational leadership styles on job satisfaction and the accountability of customer service personnel. The research suggests that some styles of management, such as transformational leadership, may be more effective in the dedication of customer service employees. Daniel Koys’ article, “The Effects of Employee Satisfaction, Organizational Citizenship Behavior, and Turnover on Organizational Effectiveness: A Unit-Level, Longitudinal Study”, addresses the issue of whether business outcomes are influenced by employee attitudes and behaviors or vice versa. In addition, the researchers concentrate on organizational citizenship as well as employee turnover. ...Family Cultural Research Paper Ashley Ziemann WITC New Richmond Family Cultural Research Paper In Switzerland, there were very wealthy land owners. They were known as the Wipfli family. I did not realize that they were from royalty, I had always just known them as the Wipfli’s. They lived in the Wipfli castle containing 30 rooms, which was wsurrounded by a wall and a moat, which is still owned and occupied by present members of the family. Inside the castle at each of the four corners of the castle, there was a large dungeon. All the walls were covered by murals. There was a circular marble stairway that wound its way up in the middle of the building. On the stairs were the Stations of the Cross. The castle is noted for its one-half mile tunnel which leads from the castle, under the river and comes out to the next village where there was a lake. The purpose of the tunnel was to provide an escape during World War 2. It also has a summer house way up in the mountains where the family lived during long hot summers. My cousin, Kathi, has a painting of the summer house over her dining room fireplace. One of the original family’s sons fell in love with Josephine Van Albert, of the family of Prince Albert (on the tobacco can). They married against her families objections which was possible because the Wipfli’s were wealthier than the Van Albert’s, and they moved from England to Switzerland. Charlotte’s father promptly disowned her, thereby cutting her off all claim our family...

Leadership Is Conversational

...Leadership is a conversation The command and control approach to management has in recent years becomes less and less viable. Globalization, new technologies, and changes in how companies create value and interact with customers have sharply reduced the efficacy of a purely directive, top down model of leadership. What will take the place of that model? Part of the answer lies in how leaders manage communication within their organizations-that is, how they handle the flow of information to, from, and among their employees. Traditional corporate communication must give way to a process that is more dynamic and more sophisticated. Most important, that process must be conversational. On conducting a recent research project that focused on the state of organizational communication. About 150 people from more than 100 companies mentioned their efforts to have a conversation with the people or to advance the conversation within their companies. There are basically four main elements of organizational conversation. Intimacy: Getting Close Leaders should minimize the distance between them and the workers (employees) of the organization in order to earn the trust of their employees. Conversational intimacy can be helpful to the organization in many ways such as: Gaining trust: Where there is no trust, there can be no intimacy. It is important for the leaders to gain the trust of the employees for proper functioning of the organizational works. Listening well: Leaders who take...
