Tennant Company’s E-Learning Usage Tennant Company is a learning organization that uses e-learning through a learning management system called “Tennant University”. Tennant University is used throughout the organization both domestically and globally. It has been largely successful for reaching our remote populations. This population is made up of 850 sales and service workers located all across the United States and through 11 countries. Tennant has purchased language-packs that allow the e-learning tools to customize messages in non-English speaking locations. In 2014, the internal OD professional was contacted by our legal department to assist with building a training program and tracking program for a compliance requirement. Organizations are not just using it as a source for employee development, they are also using it to collaborate with suppliers, vendors, customers, and business partners. Docebo (2014) has projected by 2016 the e-learning market will expand to be a $51.5 billion dollar market up from $35.6 billion dollars in 2011. E-learning has opened up an entirely new view of competitive advantage around speed and profit improvement. This alone has encouraged employers to participate and realize not only the benefits, but also the challenges to e-learning. As organization are forced to define corporate strategy, improve performance, differentiate from competitors, and build their human capital to remain competitive; e-learning will continue to grow in its prevalence and offerings. It a huge market to watch and invest in.
