...IMPACT OF TRAINING AND COMPENSATION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE A CASE STUDY OF NILAI UNIVERSITY COLLEGE Introduction Employees are one of the most important and valuable resources of an organization which is needed to accomplish the objectives of an organization (Jiang et al., 2012, Soomro, Gilal, Jatoi, 2011). The importance of employee is more pronounced in a service organization. For a service organization like a college to accomplish its objectives, it must have the right kind of staff with appropriate skills to provide the service since the employees will be in direct contact with the customers (Soomro et al., 2011). Employees can be source of competitive advantage for an organization since they could effectively used the other resources to accomplish organizational objectives (Tiwari, 2011). Effective HR practices are important in motivating the employees to perform their functions well in order to achieve organizational objectives and reduce the number of employees leaving the organization (Soomro et al., 2011). Thus, good HR practices enhance performance of employees which in turn enhances organizational performance. Having the needed skills is not sufficient to ensure the organization maintains it competitive advantage but there is need for continuous training to upgrade the skills of the employees (Jiang et al., 2011). Apart from regular training of the employees, the organization needs to have a compensation package that will attract and......

Business Case for Compensation Technology

...White Paper THE BUSINESS CASE FOR COMPENSATION TECHNOLOGY C ompensation accounts for nearly 70 percent of operating expenses for most organizations,1 and is one of the main reasons employees join and leave organizations. Yet despite the foundational role compensation plays in any talent strategy, most organizations continue to manage compensation market analysis, strategy development and program administration using spreadsheets. The perils and pitfalls of handling complex compensation tasks in spreadsheets are well known:2 spreadsheets are prone to human error, require a high-level of skill and expertise to move beyond simple analysis, and are not a scalable solution across decentralized groups. For this reason, most discussions on the use of spreadsheets in compensation and HR focus on productivity loss and risk of error. However, beyond these important but tactical gains, the compensation function and the organization at large have far more to gain by reducing reliance on spreadsheets than reduced risk and greater efficiency. This paper will explore the five areas in which organizations can improve via the adoption of compensation technology solutions: efficiency, consistency, visibility, transparency and trust. the highest salaries in the market, but it does require a deep understanding of the pay landscape in which the company operates so organizations that choose to place a lower emphasis on base salary understand the need to balance this approach with......

Incentive Plans Paper

...Incentive Plans Paper * * * * * * * * Incentive Plans Paper Myra Callahan University of Phoenix MGT/431 Human Resources Management Brad Bridges March 6th, 2011 The organization’s incentive plans relate to organizational objective because of the involvement of the financial goals for the company. Objectives define strategies or implementation steps to attain the identified goals. Unlike goals, objectives are specific, measurable, and have a defined completion date. They are more specific and outline the “who, what, when, where, and how” of reaching the goals. The development of the objectives will be to help achieve goals by dividing them into manageable components (Workforce Development, 2009). Therefore, the objectives and incentive plans go hand in hand. Incentive Plans Incentive plans are not successful when it is extremely broad and is not created for the employees or staff members. There is a saying, “all for one and one for all,” that is no longer effectively accepted into the business world. It definitely discourages those trying their best in their job performances. This certain style of increase sharing is like an entitlement. Being that some employees slack in their performances, the productive employees will reject that style of incentives. Everyone must have a clear understanding of the incentive compensation and how it connects to his or her effort. A well thought out compensation plan will push......
