...Financial Analysis My analysis on this paper was derived from this year’s numbers of both companies because I wasn’t able to get their averages because of data limitations. My paper contains information about the attempt I made in analyzing the biggest corporation in the beverage industry and these are PepsiCo, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. The type of analysis I did was vertical analysis which others may know of as a common-size analysis. Using this technique means that every item in the financial statement is expressed as one part of another base figure. The equations used in my analysis include the assets account and its base account which was Total Assets, liabilities and stockholder’s equity had its base as their stockholder’s equity and total liabilities, last, income statement had its base containing the accounts for their net revenues and sales. In this paper is my version of a horizontal analysis, it involves and evaluation of all the financial statements I have a hold of over the course of time. Behind this analysis is a purpose and it determines all the changes that took place in those figures over the years. Representation for these changes may come as different amounts or percentage changes. With the thorough examination I did on the financial reports, I gathered from these two beverage industry giants my analysis came out like this: In general, I saw improvements in all their figures over the years from the two different analysis techniques that I used on...

...area and in all of Texas. In 1977 the current marketing director for RNBD was asked to assess the effect of offering a new type of account, an interesting paying account that allows for negotiable orders of withdrawal called a NOW account. The NOW account originated in the New England states in 1972 and have grown to be a sizable amount of all accounts held in the that area. With 50 months of data available to see how the NOW accounts have influence banking and the traditional checking accounts in the area, it was time for RNDB, a leader and innovator in retail bank accounts in the Dallas area, to consider the potential of offering and what effect it would have on the business. Analysis shows that a 100% cannibalization of RNBD’s current retail checking accounts would cause a loss of close to $6 million dollars annually. At a 44% cannibalization, which was seen in Massachusetts, a market most similar to the Dallas area, would result in a loss of $2.6 million. The recommendation for RNBD includes determining a breakeven point for an account balance at approximately $1,800 and focus on conversion of current customers at that level or above to avoid losing any of their current customer base. Situation Analysis & Decision Problem The situation at hand is whether Republic National Bank of Dallas should jump into the NOW account fray and offer NOW accounts along with their other products. NOW accounts are savings account, which are interest-bearing, that allows customers...

Swot Analysis : the Basic Analysis Tool Though History

...05/09/2014 Instructor: Marie Bengtsson Course: Classic Leadership and Organization Dilemmas SWOT ANALYSIS: The basic strategic tool through history (?) It is generally known that in order to be competitive in a market, one must be able to see the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that lay the fundament of success in the organization. This analysis, is one of today’s perhaps most frequently used tools when analysing a company’s possibilities to be successful in the modern market situation. Moreover, the question is; where does this tool derive from? Is SWOT analysis a natural instinct of strategy that has been used throughout mankind, or is it constructed? Out of this natural perspective on the SWOT- analysis different tactics emerge. To begin answering this question, there will initially look back on the historical, cultural and social aspects that could be traced to be the core of the SWOT concept. Then the discussion will move on, to a practical application on a historical event and also a modern example where the SWOT can be identified. We will see the evolution of it, throughout ages and time. In order to understand our allegation, we must go back in time and see where these strategic notions “took birth”. No matter if we are in favour of religious philosophy, or the Darwin’s evolution theory, we can easily see early clues of actual swot analysis, but of course not as it is known today. On the first hand we have God as the ultimate strategist. He...

Cis360 Sap Reporting

...Reporting Now that you understand how goods are produced and sold in SAP, section 3 will show you how to extract information. While SAP excels at keeping the production process on time and error free, another benefit of the system is the huge amount of readily accessible information it stores. The primary cause for SAP’s success in the ERP market has come from its shared database structure. By using a single large database to store ALL system data, information is kept incredibly accurate and is always up to date. It did not take SAP users long to realize that this also meant that management could use the system information to make highly educated business decisions. Which would you rather have to make an important decision: a report which was compiled over a week with information from last month’s sales, or a report which was built a few minutes ago, using the company’s up to the minute SAP database? There are many different ways to form useful reports with SAP. The most common is to run one of the many preconfigured reports which come with the system. If the preconfigured reports do not show you what you wish to see, you have the option of creating custom reports using two methods: Report Painter and Report Writer. Report Painter is the easier of the two. The Report Painter tool sets up a report template for you. All you have to do is decide what information you want to see, and enter the appropriate key figures and characteristics in the blank report...

Linear Algebra Applied to Economics

...Linear Algebra Applied to Economics Input-Output Analysis Introduction: There are several non-mathematical subjects that linear algebra can be applicable too. Economics is a topic that linear algebra can be used to make a formal application, for example in Input-Output Analysis, econometrics, Game theory, and break-even point analysis. As a group we are going to be focusing on the Input-Output analysis, a type of analysis created for the purpose of describing and making predictions of complicated mathematical models using systems of linear equations. It was established by “W. Leontief, who won the 1973 Nobel Prize in Economics” (Hefferon, p.60). In this paper, mathematical and linear algebra formulas, calculations, graphs, diagrams, pictures, etc., will be clearly shown as to further understand the applicability of linear algebra in economics. Calculations and mathematical examples used in economics will be provided in the context of this paper for better understanding. Also, terms and notations used will be explained, derivation and origin of mathematical results will be shown. Definitions: Economics is a branch of knowledge concerned with the production, distributions, and consumption of goods and services. Linear algebra is a branch of mathematics with the properties of finite dimensional vector spaces and linear mapping between the spaces. The equations are represented using matrices and vectors and consist of several unknowns. Econometrics is branch of economics...

Avalon

...AVALON CLIENT REPORT Executive Summary: The analysis conducted for Avalon Cosmetics, Inc. needs to refocus its customer contact strategy. Using statistical analyses, the author found that the company’s marketing plan needs to be revised. Currently Avalon contacts most of its customers during the day, a technique that was profitable in 1990, but three years later in 1992, most customers were contacted in the evening. The data shows that 64% of Avalon’s customers now work, as compared to 26% in 1990, and 39% in 1991. Additionally, where it used to take two attempts to make contact with a customer in 1990, in 1992 that amount doubled – it took four attempts in order to make contact with a customer. It is clear that Avalon’s customers are now working and contact in the evenings is required. As such, the recommendation is that Avalon concentrates its efforts on making contact with customers in the evening. The Data: Using information from Avalon Cosmetics, Inc. for the years 1990-1992, the data set contains quantitative data (purchase price, number of contacts, and time of day contacted), ordinal data (month, day and year), and dichotomous data (employed). In order to facilitate analysis, year and time of day contacted were converted to dichotomous data sets. Findings: The key finding in the analysis was that the customers of 1990 and 1992 are different in one critical factor: more customers work today than they did in previous years. Although the customer is similar...

Jet Task 4

...Financial Analysis Task 4 A1. Costing Method In order for a company to succeed and be successful, it is very important for the company to understand the difference between profit and cost of goods. There are costing tools that can help a business figure out what the cost of product is during the manufacturing process. These tools are beneficial for a company to figure out how much profit can be made. These tools take the cost of manufacturing the unit and subtract it from the sale price of the product. Having this information, the profit per unit, is very beneficial for a company to know which products they should produce more heavily, or which ones to eliminate. I want to discuss two costing methods that are beneficial to a company. The first costing method is called traditional costing. Traditional costing is the process of coming up with unit cost by dividing total cost to make the product by the direct labor used to make the product. This process will assume that the direct labor is the major driving cost. Overhead costs, and indirect costs are combined then are given out based on their rational split. In the spreadsheet it shows Competition Bikes Inc., has a total overhead of $471,000. They have allocated $232,280 for CarbonLite, and $239,020 for titanium. By adding the overhead costs to the direct costs, we get $679,380 for CarbonLite, and $641,320 for titanium. Now if you divide the total cost of the product by the number of units, you will get $1,359 for CarbonLite...

Outcome 1 Alphabet Games

...Outcome 1 Business culture and strategy Word count: 2196 words Pages: 9 Intro: The Aim of this assessment is to show how the industry that Alphabet Games deals in has changed and continues to do so. I need to show how these changes have taken effect using the P.E.S.T Analysis and S.W.O.T Analysis, I also need to provide a set of guidelines to the company on how to use a S.W.O.T Analysis so that they can continue to monitor their needs etc. P-Political Political views and guidelines have changed the way most companies work these days. Alphabet Games works within an area of business that is constantly changing in the world of politics. The Government has set out new rules for game makers to ensure maximum safety for games, particularly online games, these are the type of games that other people can contact you in real time, either via text, voice or video calling and it’s important to help users particularly young users to stay safe. Games sold within the British Market now must hold the PEGI age rating clearly displayed on the case of the game. This is again to ensure safety, that gamers are playing age appropriate games and that the younger ones are not subjected to scenes of violence, sexual imagery or language deemed as profanity. These rules were brought into place after long and constructive studies proved that younger gamers are easily influenced by computer games especially the more popular ones, there have been cases in the past where individuals have mimicked...

Ksa Review

...the KSA statements I realized that this type of job analysis could be very effective when creating a new position. There are many different strategies that have been used to determine what type of analysis should be used for what each individual company may need. I came across an article that did a study and review on what KSA’s would be required to do a job analysis that was based on groups, in order to determine what KSA’s are needed for teamwork. The study concentrated on three areas based on groups. The first one was KSA’s instead of personality traits. Second, team KSA’s as opposed to technical KSA’s and last team versus individual analysis. The article stated that focusing on KSA’ s characterize traits such as trust, helpfulness and supportiveness which are all excellent traits to have when working with a team. The study focused more on team instead of technical KSA’s because team was directed more towards social and interpersonal skills that are needed for teamwork. The team versus individual part of the study focused on each individual within the team specifically because each team member is an individual hired separately from the other team members and when they are evaluated that is also on an individual basis. So to focus on the team itself would not be fair to each individual. I read another article that talked about strategic job analysis and hoe the KSA’s are used to measure the effective performance for a job not for now but for that particular jobs existence...
