1. Introduction
In this report I will be analysing the advantages and disadvantages of the main types of media used for promotional activities. The main types of media I shall be analysing are: newspapers, television, radio, and billboards. 2. Findings a. Newspapers
Promoting a business through a newspaper may seem ‘outdated’ by some as the world of technology continues to grow, develop and capture audiences of all ages. However, there are still some advantages to using a newspaper as a promotional tool.
A national newspaper can help you reach large amount of people whereas a regional newspaper has reader loyalty and they will trust the brands they see in this paper a lot than if they were to see an advert online. A regional newspaper can also help a business to gain high coverage within a geographical area so if you were trying to advertise a small business in a local area a regional newspaper would be perfect for this. A newspaper advert is quick; it will often come out the next day. You can also get a lot of room to promote, if you need it.
There are also a few disadvantages to using newspapers for promotional activities. Newspapers are known as ‘flat’ advertising. This means that they can’t make noise or grab attention in any other way for the audience. You can’t make a last minute change with a newspaper, because of tight printing schedules. Large space adverts are also very expensive. Lastly, newspapers tend to deliver only to an adult audience, so if you had products targeted at teens, a newspaper probably wouldn’t reach these people. b. Radio
In 30 or 60 second slots, a good radio advert grabs attention. However there are both pros and cons to promoting a business through the use of radio.
Radio offers a wide array of formats which can reach listeners during a specific state of mind, which can complement a specific advertising message.

Health Care Communication Mehods

...will be going over the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional, electronic, and social media with health care communication. The first type of communication that will be discussed is the use of traditional communication. Traditional communication includes the face-to-face method, using the telephone, having a team meeting and using printed newsletters. With using face-to-face communication one of the advantages would be that each person gets to see one another which makes it easier to read their body language and understand better what might be occurring. Another advantage would be the personal relationship that can be built between the people who are communicating. Disadvantages would include not being able to speak what is on ones mind to the person when looking at them. Another would be not being very good at confronting someone who may be of higher authority than them. Next type is the telephone, which has the advantage of still allowing the person to voice what they have to say and be able to adjust their tone when needed. Disadvantage would be that the phone could cut out or there is the mis communication that could occur due to misunderstanding the tone of the statement. Advantage of team meeting is it allows for colleagues to be able to get together in room and converse over the situation at hand. Disadvantage would be that not all members are able to physically be in the same room so they have to use intercom to include them. The last type of...

Connecting with people all over the world is a luxury that social media allows. Reconnecting with old friends or lost loved ones is also an advantage. Social media is also a great way to search for employment and to connect with potential employers that may not have been available otherwise. Social media also gives one many outlets and ways to launch and advertise a new business. Using one social media site with connections to others allows word of a new business to travel much faster than it would if social media did not exist. There are also disadvantages to social media. The biggest disadvantage is isolation. People can get so engrossed in the world of social media that it becomes an integral part of their lives. Their world revolves around when the next time they will be able to check Facebook, for instance, will be.
