There is no other organ in the body as magnificent as the heart. It seems interesting that it is also placed at the center of our bodies. Without this amazing muscle made of involuntary striated muscle cells, we would not be able to live. It is a mean machine! It only takes about 20 seconds to circulate the blood through the entire body. An adult heart pumps approximately 2,000 gallons of blood throughout the body. However, there are plenty of other organs in our bodies that we can do without and they do not necessarily sustain our wellbeing. For example, we can live just fine with only one kidney. Also, our spleen, tonsils, appendix and gallbladder can be removed, but that is not the case for our heart. We need its’ life sustaining abilities in order to live. The heart is not only associated with our physical well- being, but it also is strongly linked to our emotional well being as well. “The Greeks believed the heart was the seat of the spirit, the Chinese associated it with the center for happiness and the Egyptians thought the emotions and intellect rose from the heart.” (Condron, 2011). The heart is so much more than just an organ that pumps blood throughout the body. It is a key factor to life. When the heart has issues, it is a domino effect in the body and other body systems are affected too. There are a multitude of problems that can arise with the cardiac system. One of these problems is angina.
Key Principles Angina can be defined as a discomfort or pain in the area of the heart or chest. It can feel like heavy pressure or even a squeezing in the chest area. But that is not the only place...

...“Amazing Grace.” Hymns of the 49th Parallel. 5th ed. New York: Baptist Hymnals Publishers, 1974. In the world of music, there are many songs that bring one joy, excitement, or delight. In other cases, there are songs that lead one to sadness, depression, or loneliness. However, there are also significantly few songs that reach down to the very depths of your heart and touch you in a way that is truly moving. This sort of emotion was felt when I heard the hymnal “Amazing Grace” by John Newton, and is still felt today. As a young child, I never really understood the complexity of the Holy Bible, the stories within it, or the ‘grace’ that is so freely offered. I often admittedly fell asleep in church or simply passed the time away by drawing funny pictorials of biblical characters I was supposed to learn about in Sunday school. Considering I was just like the other typical rebellious eight year old boys, this was quite acceptable in my opinion. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until one special Sunday evening service that I finally ‘came of age.’ The standard ‘boring’ service went on as it usually did and as the preacher summed up his message, my mother, the piano player, made her way up to the front of the sanctuary. As she began to play, the choir began to sing. I began to listen, and my heart began to melt. What was this song they were singing? Surely I had heard it. Only this time it was different....

My Reading Response to Amazing Grace

...My Reading Response to Amazing Grace Jacqueline Stephens My Reading Response to Amazing Grace The poem I have chosen to respond to is Amazing Grace by John Newton. Giving birth to a child creates a strong bond between a mother and daughter, the emotional bond created between my granddaughter and myself is due to the fact, I had custody of her for the first two and half years of her life and I sang Amazing Grace to her every night before bedtime. She weighted a pound and six ounces when she was born, by the Grace of God she is a thriving six year old. This gives reason for her name, Nevaeh Lee, her first name backwards with her middle name, Heaven Lee. This poem touches my heart on a level no song has ever done. It was a way we spent our special time together. I can feel her little body lying on my chest with her hand clutching my shirt collar. This is the “Intensity of Emotion” (Section 13.4) I feel when I think of those times and wish by some miracle I could experience them again. I can hear her mom calling me on the phone when she had visitation at her at bedtime, asking me, “What does Nevaeh want”. I asked her what is she saying, she replied “mazing”, my heart broke. I told her she needed to be sung Amazing Grace to go to sleep. I feel the tears now. I started singing this to her when she was six months old. That is when she was able to come home from the hospital....

A Classical Comedic Relief

...Groban is a very accomplished prolific singer having performed with other amazing singers such as Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. He has also sung multiple memorable performances at a variety of events including the Grammys, American Music Awards and the Super Bowl XXXVIII. Groban selected to open the show with a piano solo of “You Are Loved”. He sung to a lento tempo graciously to the crowd of 20,000 people causing an amazing silence. Following after a few second cadences Groban continues to sing another ballad “Awake”. Groban makes all the women sway their hands to the pretty grave tempo. He sings a story pleading to stay awake to avoid a broken heart as the flutes and piano softly makeup the triple composition. The song is mainly homophonic and toward the end goes into a polyphonic rondo. “Awake” ends with a pianissimo crescendo of all instruments. The band consisting of two basses, six violins, two french horns, a trumpet, two flutes, a harp, drums, a piano and two guitars helps Groban transition into “Oceano”. “Oceano” is sung in Italian and depicts an amazing abyss of love that a man attempts to hide. The mezzo forte crescendo leading to the chorus causes the forum to tremble. The piano carries strongly as the violins sing the tale of fighting off the heart break storms. Groban melody accompanied with the fierce drums and cymbals leave your racing. The crowd whistles, and screams “I love you’s” as the song ended....

I believe that there are those that were born to be that way and those that have been taught to be caring and compassionate. While not every person is cut out to be on the front line of this field, those that are become very special people. Willing to give up their lives and time to help others and not make allot of money doing so. This group of people has a unique personality that is not taught or handed out to everyone. The people that work in the human service field are a special class of people and help to make our current world a better place. Training and knowledge is just the beginning of what is needed to be successful in the human service field. A human service worker must be able to put personal prejudices aside to be able to help his or her client in the appropriate manner. Putting aside personal prejudices does not mean putting aside common sense. Ethics are another key point to be successful, without this then one truly cannot freely see the entire big picture. Not being judgmental is another key point, you are seeing them or helping them for a reason, the last thing your client needs is to be pointed at continuously be told that what they did was wrong. Justin: One Night Only

...I had floor seats to the most amazing concert ever. My roommate and I were in heaven. Justin came to Fresno on his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour. Joining him on tour was female singer Pink, who was the opening act, and producer and rapper Timbaland, who joined Justin on stage for a new numbers, including a monologue of his own. Pink opened up the show at the stroke of 7:30. She came out in a denim tank top and denim pleaded skirt. She got the party started. Her performance was energetic and amazing. She even performed an acrobatic routine in the air. At around 9:00P.M., the teasing began. The band members slowly made their way to the stage and they began to play a little interlude. The arena, already lively, began screaming their heads off, crying, shaking, jumping up and down, and anticipating the moment when the most amazing man in the world would reveal himself. The first song started up. It was the title track FutureSex/LoveSounds. Justin emerged from the center of the stage, dressed in a black suit, with a white guitar around his neck. Silk screens were surrounding the entire round stage. The stage was set in the middle of the arena. Long rectangular bars were attached to the stage so that the performers may get closer to the audience who were in the seats on the sides. There was also another platform where the performers could walk on, and would walk from one side of the round stage to the other....

...But true worship is also a matter of the heart. It must be felt. It can't be ritualistic. It can't be just an external going through the motions. True worship is a heartfelt expression of love, adoration, admiration, fascination, wonder, and celebration. It's something that happens in your heart and soul when you begin to praise God for who He is and thank Him for what He has done. Worship is what empowers followers of Jesus to live faithfully in the world. In worship our minds take in wisdom, our hearts are moved, and our whole beings are called to live out the gospel. People have worshiped, and praised God since the beginning of time. One of the best stories of worship towards God is noted in Isaiah 6, “ In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke (v.1–4).”  Worship brings an upward look, with one glance at God on His throne with all of His glory. It pulls our attentions off our idols and puts them back of to our God. It reminds us how good, powerful and loving He is. Worship brings us an inward look. "Woe to me!"...

Travel Memoir

...Since that very day a chunk of my heart was ripped away, and broken into pieces… “Oh how I miss her so much.” It was the morning of October 24, 2010 when I first received the news. I had just come back from a trip to Orlando’s Halloween horror nights, where I had an amazing time and just in a matter of minutes my whole world had turned upside down. That very moment I could feel my face turned bright red with anger and tears started flowing uncontrollably down my chubby cheeks, as my mother gave away the news that my grandmother was on her death bed. I couldn’t believe how just the day before she sounded so perfectly fine, and today she can possibly be gone. I guess when it’s time to go, it’s time to go you really don’t get a choice when it comes to your own life’s destination. I immediately rushed to the hospital speeding to about 70 miles per hour, hoping I wouldn’t get a ticket. As I got closer I could feel my chest tightening as if somebody was squeezing it with their bare hands. The hospital’s smell seemed familiar prior to the months before, where my grandma spent countless times after having heart surgery and battling ulcerous colitis. It was a long walk down the narrow hall to the Intensive Care Unit, where all the patients looked the same. There were so many machines hooked to their fragile and lifeless bodies. Their only chance of survival depended on life support machines, without them they would die...

Amazing Autumn

...Amazing Autumn The most amazing season of the year is autumn, or as most southerners call it fall. Fall is the time of year when football comes on, the leaves change, bonfires are in full swing, and anything pumpkin and apple is selling. The anticipation of all the little trick-or-treaters, and knowing that family will be around in just a few short weeks makes the heart warm from the inside out. Fall brings Thanksgiving, Halloween, and much more, it also starts to bring everyone’s heart out. Everyone has a bigger heart it seems when fall comes and makes it appearance for a few months, after that it leaves one longing for it until it comes back around. Fall is full of wonderful things that make the season what it is. At the beginning of an East Tennessee fall, all which is heard is “Go big orange!’ All people want to see are the mountains’ trees changing from the bright green and dull green colors into reds, oranges, yellows, and some deep purples. The changing of the leaves’ color and the yelling of Tennessee Volunteer fanatics are how one will know the wonderful season fall is upon us. When fall arrives, Starbucks starts to sell pumpkin spice lattes, and Wal-Mart sells pumpkins to carve. Some will start to see women and men drinking the hot and delicious pumpkin spice lattes and children planning what to carve on their pumpkins....
