The Appeal for Online Educations Is on the Rise

Abstract
Education is said to be the key that open many doors. The American dream of owning a house with a white-picket fence can be made easier to obtain with a degree. Earning a degree is not always an easy task. The Appeal for Online Education Is On the Rise in America Education is important and knowledge is power. These are societal beliefs in America. Many believe that without a degree, one cannot live a good life. A good life encompasses having financial success. It’s difficult for working adults, who want to be financially successful, to earn a degree. The appeal for online education is on the rise in America.
Time Constraints
The first reason that the appeal for online education is on the rise in America is because of time constraints. Many Americans have busy lives, children and jobs; they hardly have enough time to accomplish their daily task. The working adult, who wants to go back to school to earn their degree, has two options. Either they can go to a traditional university to earn a degree or the can attend online university to earn their degree. Schedule re-arrangement would be required to go the traditional route. An online education is quickly becoming the more popular way to go. Going to school online does not require a change in work schedule and it does not limit quality time spent with family. Time management skills can be used to maintain a high grade average in school.
Expedited Degree Process
The next reason that the appeal for online education is on the rise in America is because of the ability to expedite the process of earning a degree. Some of the online universities allow students to earn college credits for their “real life” experiences. These experiences allow students to get ahead by being counted towards their degrees. AIU allows students to earn their

Capitalism - Jack the Ripper

...a long way from the days of Feudalism where Lords were land (fief) owners and the vassals were the common folk who provided a service to the Lord for use of the land, whether it is to serve in the military or other forms as requested. This was the way of life in medieval times, up until the 15th century (Hirst, 2012). From here, the transition began from Feudalism to the early stage Capitalism, where the ordinary people broke away from the Feudal system and owned property and the means of production as well as the resources to make and maintain wealth (Dictionary.com, 2012). England in the 1800’s was hard in comparison to today. The life expectancy for a man aged 20 in 1850 was 60.1 years compared to 76.7 in 2004 (Geoff Canyon's Appeal to Authority, 2009). This was mainly due to the living conditions and especially those in the poor area of East London, where animals not only shared the often over crowed living area with humans but also the human waste that was thrown onto the streets. Often those who lived in the bottom apartments lived close to if not in the stench, more so than those who lived multiple stories above the streets. With the pollution of human waste in the streets and the polluted River Thames from the sewage of the West End, no matter where you lived in the East End, you still had to walk through the rising filth. These living conditions were the main reason for the various outbreaks of diseases, sores and premature deaths during the 1800’s (Engels...

Barrack Gold Corporation

...Barrack Gold Corporation Introduction The following essay focuses on the mining conglomerate Barrick Gold Corporation. Barrick owns gold and copper mines across Australia, Africa, and the Americas and these geographical locations provide the focus of the essay’s Macroenviromental analysis. The gold is sold to various gold bullion dealers at market prices whereas copper is sold to copper product manufacturers and copper traders in Europe, North America, South America and Asia (BarrickResponsibilty, 2013). Barrick’s Macroenviroment According to Kotler et al. (2011) a company and all of the other actors operate in a larger macroenviroment of forces that shape opportunities and pose threats to a company such as Barrick. Jobber and Ellis-Chadwick (2013) further imply that it is these actors and forces that affect the mining company’s capability to operate effectively in providing products and services to its customers. Its external environment is characterized by elements that do not have an immediate impact on its performance albeit their impact being felt over the long term. There are those that can influence the company marketing activities without management being able to control them hence the need to continuously monitor them or risk going out of business (Wilson, 2006). The framework that best discusses these elements is the PESTLE Analysis as it provides the strategic planning and environmental analysis that can be useful for Barrick to improve performance and ensure its...

...The Advent of Online Intermediaries Diminish the Need for Travel Agents Totally in the Near Future? Erin Toh Temasek Polytechnic Abstract This paper will focus on the comparison between Retail Travel Agencies (TA) and Online Travel Agents/Intermediaries (OTA); and how the rise of technology has affected the business model and operations of traditional agents. Traditional TA in this paper refers loosely to those with a brick and mortar store, selling travel related services with human touch; while OTA are also selling travel related services, but without a brick and mortar store and solely relies on internet as a selling medium (Bottomley, 1997). The paper will start with an overview of the booming travel industry, followed by the main challenges facing the travel industry, namely labour crunch and human touch, discussed in the context of TA and OTA. An analysis of current consumers behaviour factors as identified by Zhou, Dai, and Zhang (2007), affecting purchase decisions will also be discussed. In addition, traditional TA roles have evolved throughout the years to offer differentiated services in order to keep within the competition. The distribution of travel products has undergone changes and in order to remain competitive, TA must take a page out of OTAs, adapt to technology and online platforms in order not to be rendered obsolete. Mass Marketing Celbrity Chefs and Reality Cooking Shows

...famous and well known. Today celebrity chefs often become celebrities by presenting cooking advice and demonstrations via mass media, especially television (Wikipedia, 2011). Chefs and cooks are always in demand all over the world. They are responsible for menu planning, prepping food, cooking and presenting attractive meals. Cooks become chefs after many years of training. Receiving a formal culinary education, can help speed up the process. This prevents development of bad habits and learning proper techniques from the start. It also teaches time management and efficiency in working and meal planning. These traits are critical to maintain high quality service and food without too much time. While the job can be glamorous, chefs are not afraid to get down and dirty. Once a chef reaches the position of executive chef, they usually stay out of the kitchen and take on menu planning and running of the restaurant. An executive chef makes about $59,000 a year, but can earn a six figure income depending on a restaurants success (Top Culinary Arts Schools and Online Training Programs, 2011). Many chefs also act as consultants to magazines, TV Shows and other programs across the nation. The job can be very rewarding when a restaurant, catering service or bakery receives an excellent review in a newspaper, magazine, or star ranking. With the popularity of the culinary field growing, due to reality TV Shows and food related programming, there will be no shortage for...

Tapping the Ethnic Housing Market

...African American and Hispanics in regards to the housing market. African Americans make up one of the major ethnic subcultures, representing 13 percent of the American population, where on average, are younger than the white population, have less education, and lower household incomes. “One-third of black households earn $50,000 or more and nearly 10 percent earn $100,000 or more” (Hawkins). African Americans are segmented as market leaders or market followers. Within those are generational differences which pose challenges when it comes to marketing because they don’t follow the stereotypical images that they have been subjected to. Many are “driving growth in income and purchase power through education and professional achievement. African Americans represent $799 billion in buying power, which is expected to grow by some 34 percent through 2011” (Hawkins). This fact gives lenders and real estate agents opportunity to implement specific marketing tactics. Internet usage among African Americans is on the rise, allowing marketers to leverage online-based advertising for example. Hispanics represent another major ethnic subculture and have diverse nationalities including people of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South/Central America or any other Spanish ethnicity. “The Hispanic market is now the largest and fastest-growing ethnic subculture in the United States” (Hawkins). Hispanics are sensitive to nationality-based differences which can pose as a marketing challenge. Differences...
