The Barn Once upon a time there lived a farmer and his beautiful wife. The farmer and his wife were young and energetic. His wife was a bigger lady who had lived on a farm all her life. The farmer himself was tall and muscular. He lived down the road from his wife when they were kids and now the were married. After being married for a couple months they received some big news! They had been approved for a loan to build a barn on their property. So they went right to work. They had a lot of planning to do and it took many months to get everything in order. After a couple days of preparing and getting the structure built, everyone had to leave to get back to their own lives so they bid the farmer and his wife good luck. The farmer and his wife slowly built onto the structure first adding the walls to reinforce it. Eventually they could take off the beams that helped to keep the barn standing straight as it could now stand on its own. Over the next three weeks they worked hard to build the rest of the barn, and it eventually was complete. The next step was painting and making the barn look charming. The barn slowly looked better and better. Finally all the paint was added and it was its own independent structure. Soon it was time to let the animals in to live in the barn. The animals loved living in the barn as it protected them from the harshness of the outside. One day a storm was brewing on the horizon. As the day progressed so did the storm and it eventually moved its way over the farm. The winds picked up and the rain came pounding down. The farmer and his wife kept repairing when needed and loved their little farm. But with time the barn slowly aged. The farmer and his had had a couple children and focused more on them so the barn did had to fend for itself. Ever so often the farmer would come out with one of his kids to go make a repair but that happened less and less. Soon the family decided it was time to move to the city. They packed all their belongings and went to sell all the animals. The animals had left their home for a new one and the barn was now empty. All that was left for the farmer, his wife, and children was to sell the property. People came and went looking at the house and barn. But no one decided to buy the property so the barn was left without care. It stood for many years slowly breaking down in the process with no repairs. It still held its purpose of protecting whatever was inside. Sometimes a deer or fox would wander in and stay for awhile, but they would eventually leave and go about their lives. The barn now looked frail and old, the paint had long ago vanished and there were holes in the roof. The interior of the barn was slowly decaying and falling apart.
