The Battle of Trenton: A Battle Analysis
The American victory in the battle of Trenton could not have come at a better time for Colonial forces. The fledgling army of the United States and seen multiple defeats and was on the verge of collapse. The quick victory over the professional fighting force of German Hessians did much to boost morale and solidify General George Washington’s command. The battle also taught General Washington a valuable lesson about intelligence. While a relatively small engagement compared to many other major historical battles, a Battle Analysis will show the impact was far reaching and had intelligence assets not worked out, could have easily been a disastrous defeat for the Americans.

They had very little respect for the uprising in their colonies. They assumed that there was simply no way that some rebellious colonials would be able to stand toe-to-toe with their military might. With little exception, prior to the winter of 1776, they were right.
The British military had successfully routed the Americans in New York and New Jersey. Losing Manhattan and Long Island had been a disastrous setback for the Americans and they had suffered defeat after defeat until they were pushed across the Delaware River into Pennsylvania. The British had no intention of pushing the fight past the Delaware in December 1776. The Royal Army was content to wait the winter out believing they had a solid upper hand and that the American Army was in no position to attack.
Conversely, General Washington had envisioned a prolonged winter campaign to retake New Jersey. The surprise attack at Trenton was meant to be the first of multiple battles. While to some extent this was true, terrain, weather, and poor leadership from subordinate generals largely hindered his

The campaign for his release, organized by his family and supporters, along with revelations of an army cover-up, saw the so-called “Dreyfus Affair” become the major focal point of French public discourse at the turn of the century. Partisan camps of “Dreyfusards” and “anti-Dreyfusards” waged a war of words against each other as they debated Dreyfus' innocence and, implicitly, what it meant to be French in the Third Republic. Marked by an effusion of antisemitic vitriol, this debate has been characterized by Frederick Brown as a polarizing battle between two rival visions of France.[1] This battle at times extended to the streets, as it did in response to the publication of Émile Zola's 1898 “J'accuse.” Zola's open letter indicted the Army General Staff for antisemitism and cover-up, and prompted reactionary riots across France, the most violent of which occurred in French colonial Algiers. This is explored from the context of HAVO Dutch youths in Rotterdam aged 14-16 years in two schools; Calvijn and Comenius colleges particularly from their peer solidarity and socialization processes. HAVO is one of the four streams of secondary education in Holland referred to as Senior general secondary education (HAVO). The stream takes five years and qualifies students to enter higher vocational education (HBO). Some students can also choose to enter pre-university secondary education VWO or MBO education (Dutch Education Journal, 2007). The analysis is based on both qualitative and quantitative findings from Focus Group Discussions (FDGs), structured and semistructured interviews, drawings, observations and questionnaires. This study considers both the advantages and disadvantages of youth engagement in new media. The study also attempt to contribute to the wider development discourses in the field of children and youth. The conclusion for this book highlights how new media has played a role in the youth cultures in structuring their peer relationships. Throughout the study, pseudo names are used for ethical reasons.
