On a cold December evening in 1955,ROSA PARKS quietly incited a revolution by just sitting down. She was tired after spending the day at work as a department store seamstress. She stepped onto the bus for the ride home and sat in the fifth row the first row of the "COLORED SECTION." In Montgomery, Alabama, when a bus became full, the seats nearer the front were given to white passengers. Montgomery bus for the ride home and sat in the fifth row the first row of the "COLORED SECTION. In Montgomery, Alabama, when a bus became full, the seats nearer the front were given to white passengers. Montgomery bus driver JAMES BLAKEordered Parks and three other African Americans seated nearby to move ("Move y'all, I want those two seats,") to the back of the bus.Three riders complied; Parks did not.
"Are you going to stand up?" the driver demanded. Rosa Parks looked straight at him and said: "No." Flustered, and not quite sure what to do, Blake retorted, "Well, I'm going to have you arrested." And Parks, still sitting next to the window, replied softly, "You may do that." (Rosa Park's biography by Douglas Brinkley)
After Parks refused to move, she was arrested and fined $10. The chain of events triggered by her arrest changed the United States.
Leading figures of the black community like Ralph David Abernathy and Martin Luther King, Jr quickly got into action against the discrimnation. The demands they made were simple: Black passengers should be treated with courtesy. Seating should be allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis, with white passengers sitting from front to back and black passengers sitting from back to front. And African American drivers should drive routes that primarily serviced African Americans. On Monday, December 5, 1955 the boycott went into effect.
Montgomery officials stopped at nothing in attempting to sabotage the boycott. King and Abernathy

...Current Marketing Situation The primary target market for UScoot is college students enrolled at Ole Miss. Parking on campus is getting worse and worse, and the situation is opening up a very large market for alternate transportation. Ole Miss is closing in on 20,000 students, and the university plans to continually increase enrollment, which will continually increase the size of UScoot’s target market. A secondary market for Uscoot will be campus employees. There are more than 2,500 Ole Miss employees, many of whom are searching for alternate transportation just as the students are, and as student enrollment rises, Ole Miss will have to employ even more people, and this will increase the size of the secondary market as well. Obviously, UScoot will available to anyone who wants to use the service, but the biggest portion of the business will definitely be centered around Ole Miss students. There are 38,000 residents in the city of Oxford, and these 38,000 residents represent the total market for UScoot. The size of the target market is between 15,000 and 20,000, which represents all students enrolled at the university. UScoot will only need to capture about 1% of this market to be profitable. It is not at all unreasonable to believe that UScoot can achieve this number of customers very quickly, and the potential for growth past that number is excellent as well. Enrollment will continue to rise, and the popularity of UScoot is bound to increase as more and more people learn...

...The core problem of Molex, Inc is their failure to disclose an inventory valuation error problem thereby contravening AICPAs Statement of Position (SOP) 94-6 KPMG Report, 2008 states that the objective of such disclosures is to improve the information communicated to financial statement users and to help users assess those risks and uncertainties. SOP 94-6 focuses primarily on disclosures about risks and uncertainties that could significantly impact the amounts reported in the financial statements in the near term or the near-term functioning of the reporting entity. These risks and uncertainties may result from, among other matters, the nature of the entity’s operations, and the use of estimates in the financial statements, and significant uncertainties in the entity’s operations. Financial Implications due to delisting It is the opinion of the group after careful analysis of the Molex, Inc case that should the company not comply with regulations and allow themselves to be delisted due to delinquency, it will bring about a host of financial implication. In their paper on the Laws and Finances of the delisting process, M. O’Hara and D. Pompilio, 2004 wrote that The practice of delisting stocks that fail to meet certain financial criteria is curious for many reasons: it hurts the firms being delisted; it harms the investors holding those shares; and it removes from the exchange or stock market a security that traders wish to transact. Perhaps the most immediate impact of the...

Exploring the Motherboard and Buses

...Exploring the Motherboard and Buses NT1110 What are the major components of the motherboard? Provide a brief description of each component. The major components to the motherboard are the power supply, memory slots, expansion board slots, mass storage, I/O ports, and the CPU. The power supply is used to supply all of the computer with the appropriate power. The memory slots are used for inserting Random Access Memory cards into, to allow memory to be temporarily stored only when power is applied. If power is lost, the memory will be lost. Expansion board slot are used to support adapter cards such as PCI express, AGP, or PCI cards. These slots allow for many different additions onto the motherboard, graphics cards, addition USB ports, LAN cards, etc. Mass storage are simply nothing more than the hard drives and optical drives. The I/O ports are ports that come integrated to the motherboard, which means it cannot be removed. But the ports can be anything from mouse/keyboard hook ups, to integrated Ethernet ports. Finally the Central Processor Unit, CPU, the brain of the computer. This is where the calculations are all done and how fast they can be done is determined by the power of the CPU. Upgrading only the motherboard will give some performance improvement to a computer system. Why would the improvement be limited? The upgrade would be limited because the motherboard is merely nothing more than an information high way but you can direct the motherboard towards a path that...

Bus System

...Explain what a System Bus is and why it is needed ? By: Katina Howard Prof: CLIFTON-HOWELL Date: Jan.31, 2013 INTRO TO TECHNOLOGY A system bus is a single computer bus that connects the major components of a computer system. The technique was developed to reduce costs and improve modularity. It combines the functions of a data bus to carry information, an address bus to determine where it should be sent, and a control bus to determine its operation. Although popular in the 1970s and 1980s, modern computers use a variety of separate buses adapted to more specific needs. The System Bus provides even more modularity with reduced cost, memory and I/O buses (and the required control and power buses) were sometimes combined into a single unified system bus. The modularity and cost became important as computers became small enough to fit in a single cabinet (and customers expected similar price reductions). Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) further reduced cost for mass-produced minicomputers, and memory-mapped I/O into the memory bus, so that the devices appeared to be memory locations. This was implemented in the Unibus of the PDP-11 around 1969, eliminating the need for a separate I/O Even computers such as the PDP-8 without memory-mapped I/O were soon implemented with a system bus, which allowed modules to be plugged into any slot. Some authors called this a new streamlined "model" of computer architecture. Many early microcomputers (with a CPU generally on a single integrated...

...Coming back home after a long and exhausting day at school, the one thing I desire is peace and quiet. I lay there, still in my bed. The only movement is in my wrists from the swift flicking of pages of the book ‘Twenties Girl’ written by Sophie Kinsella. The amity is so divine, so serene, so heavenly and tranquil. If anything could be as close to heaven, this would be it…. BRING! BRING! BRING! BRING! Suddenly the dream I considered reality, was viciously awoken by the sound of the ear-splitting entry phone. OH GOD! What I was dreading the most has finally arrived at my doorstep! I know you are thinking “Who’s at the door? A crazy old women? A mental asylum patient? A serial killer?!” But no. None of those. Unfortunately, it’s worse! My infuriating little cousin. I guess dear listeners, that by now you’ve figured what my topic is. Yes. Annoying children. You may think that I am a stone hearted, droning, inconsiderate teenager rambling on about annoying children. But the fact of the matter is that if there is one thing that I absolutely cannot tolerate, it is my peace being destructed by these aggravating, bothersome, petty children, and especially then, when there is a multitude of them. It’s been about three weeks now, since these rebellious guests attacked the harmony from within my peaceful home, which has thankfully, now been restored after the departure of these insolent beings. I was in my room, trying to concentrate on reading my book in peace and it felt impossible...
