Religion: “A ka is a double of the body, I want to complete the sentence for him --- the body’s companion through life and after life. It guides the body through the kingdom of the dead”. (17)
Chapter 1 My favorite quote from chapter one “the book of the dead” is the following “A ka is a double of the body. The body’s companion through life and after life. It guides the body through the kingdom of the dead” because I feel that it has so much connection to ka’s father beliefs which she doesn’t quite understand but it means a lot to him considering he sees ka as his good angel.
Death/ assassination: “We have a proverb, he continues. “one day for the hunter, one day for the prey. Ka your father was the hunter; he was not the prey.” (21)

It was the realization that he would never know why --- why one single person had been given the power to destroy his entire life”. (107)
Chapter 5 I think this setting is important because it was a moment where anything was bound to happen, but because of the fear of him hurting someone else in the process of hurting someone who hurt him he thought twice about it. Also wondering why was someone given the opportunity to destroy his life by taken something important to him.
Family: “blood calls blood. Perhaps she had summoned him here so he could at last witness a peaceful death and see how it was meant to be mourned. Perhaps the barber was not his parents’ murderer after, but just a phantom who’d shown up to escort him back here”. (116)
Chapter 5 I think the relationship between Dany and Estina is interesting because it’s like they have an unbreakable bond. I love the way they interact with one another when he came back to see her. Although she wasn’t around that long he got to spend time with her but most of all witness a peaceful death for the first
