...Part-time Instructor/Professor at Gordon College. As I see them everyday, I noticed that they enjoyed what they are doing. There are times that when I see my cousin teaching with HRM students and at the Graduate students, I feel so proud. I can feel their passion in teaching, their love and care to their students, and most of all, their dedications and commitment to their duties. I still remember when I asked my cousin why she still need to teach wherein fact, she has her full-time job at Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. She just smiled and told me that she love what she is doing. I asked her if she is not tired working for a long period of time everyday. She answered me back that she is still human and there are times that she is tired with her schedules but she preferred to teach at night than staying at home and watch TV. In school, as she told me, she knew that she helped her student to become a good citizen and to reach their ambitions in life as they finished their respective courses. She also told me that she wants to teach because she wants her mind to be more active as she also learned from her students. Moreover, she told me that to become a teacher is also to become a student and to become a teacher is also to become a friend, a sister, an auntie, and most of all, a mother to your students. With all those stories, I learned that to become a teacher, one needs degrees to finish. I may not be like my cousin who finished her master’s degree in......

...Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Background of the study: We are the student of BBA program in East West University, as a part of ‘classroom teaching’ of course ‘Organizational Behavior’, sec-5, has been highly encouraged to prepare a term paper on the topic – “Type A Type A Personality and Occupation Stress” – A study on United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL)’’. Organizational behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication, and management; and it complements the academic studies of organizational theory (which is more macro-level) and human resource studies (which is more applied and business-related). It may also be referred to as organizational studies or organizational science. The field has its roots in industrial and organizational psychology. The main reasons for studying organizational behavior is that most of us work in organizations, so we need to understand, predict, and influence the behaviors of others in organizational settings. Marketing students learn marketing concepts, and computer science students learn about circuitry and software code. But all of us need organizational behavior knowledge to address the people issues when trying to apply marketing, computer science, and other ideas. 1.2 Objectives of the Study: We the students of this university are very lucky for getting the chance......

...licensee. Saylor URL: http://www.saylor.org/books Saylor.org 1 Preface Competing books are focused on the academic part of HRM, which is necessary in a university or college setting. However, the goal with this book is not only to provide the necessary academic background information but also to present the material with a practitioner’s focus on both large and small businesses. While the writing style is clear and focused, we don’t feel jargon and ten-dollar words are necessary to making a good textbook. Clear and concise language makes the book interesting and understandable (not to mention more fun to read) to the future HRM professional and manager alike. It is highly likely that anyone in business will have to take on an HRM role at some point in their careers. For example, should you decide to start your own business, many of the topics discussed will apply to your business. This is the goal of this book; it is useful enough for the HRM professional, but the information presented is also applicable to managers, supervisors, and entrepreneurs. Besides these differences, other key differences include the following:   This book utilizes a technology focus and shows how HRM activities can be leveraged using technology. We have also included a chapter on communication and information about motivational theories. Since communication is a key component of HRM, it makes sense to include it as a full chapter in this book. Human motivation is one of the cornerstones......

...best-practice approach to SHRM. To evaluate the relationship between SHRM and organisational performance. To present a number of activities and case studies that will facilitate readers’ understanding of the nature and complexity of the SHRM debate, and enable them to apply their knowledge and understanding. Introduction to strategic human resouce management This chapter charts the development of strategic human resource management. It assumes a certain familiarity with the evolution of HRM, early HRM models and frameworks and their theoretical underpinning as discussed in Chapter 1. The aim of this chapter is to provide a challenging and critical analysis of the strategic human resource management literature, so that you will be able to understand the synthesis both within and between strategic human resource management and strategic management in its various forms. Since the early 1980s when human resource management arrived on the managerial agenda, there has been considerable debate concerning its nature and its value to organisations. From the seminal works emerging from the Chicago school and the matching model of HRM (Fombrun et al., 1984), the emphasis has very much concerned its strategic role in the organisation. Indeed, the now large literature rarely differentiates between human resource management (HRM) and strategic human resource management (SHRM). Some writers have associated HRM with the strategic aspects and concerns of ‘best-fit’, in vertically aligning......
