It is an accepted fact that food is fundamentally necessary in order to function effectively as a human being. It basically strengthens us with the necessary nutrients to help us live and survive in this material world. Eating habits help a person to perform work especially for the young ones who are studying. With the right quality and quantity of the food taken into our bodies, our mental and physical capacities can be enhanced. This can improve our health and thus avoid risks for certain diseases and illnesses.
However, there are people who are busy working or doing certain activities who cannot watch their health that much, especially students who are busy with school works. These people have difficulties

I enjoy looking into my new pad, notebooks, pencil, and other things that my mother bought me, especially with my new shoes and uniforms. I told to myself, I will enjoy studying as I will learn new things and meet new friends. And when the first day of school starts, I woke up early, ate my breakfast, took a bath, and wore my new uniform and shoes. In few minutes, I am now ready to go to school. Like my other cousins, we are all excited to go to school and meet my first teacher. That day is so special to me, our teacher taught us to how to greet her and our classmates, introduce ourselves to others, and later, she taught us how to sing, count, and the ABCs. I enjoyed my first day and as days passed, I learned more things and observed my teacher on her next move and what is the next instruction to be given to us. Day by day, our activities are getting harder as more things are new to me. I also noticed the different attitudes of my classmates for some our crying looking for their parent. This gradually laid the foundation of fallen standard in education at the primary and secondary school levels, which caused differential academic performance of students. In the quest of finding survival feet, the nation has evolved series of socio-economic and educational measures but these have not improved the social-economic status of families in the country. It is within this milieu that this study examines socio-economic factors influencing students' academic performance in Nigeria, with some explanations from Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State. The time frame of the study covers the period of 2004 to 2007. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) copies of questionnaire were administered to respondents. The study revealed that insufficient parental income, family type and lack of funding by governments are factors influencing students' academic performance. Based on these findings, certain recommendations are made towards improving student academic performance.
