...THE FROG PRINCESS Long ago, in ancient times, there was a king who had three sons, all of them grown. The king said: “My children, let each of you make a bow for himself and shoot an arrow. She who brings back you arrow will be your bride; he whose arrow is not brought back will not marry.” The eldest son shot his arrow, and a general’s daughter brought it back to him. The second shot his arrow and landowners haughtier brought it back to him. But little prince Ivan’s arrow was brought back from the marsh of the frog who held it between her teeth. His brothers were joyous and happy but Prince Ivan became thoughtful and wept: “How will I live with a frog? After all, this is a little task, not like walking across a field!” He wept and wept, but there was no way out o9f it, so he took the frog to wife. All three sons and their brides were wed in accordance with the customs of their country; the frog was held on a dish. They began living together. One day the king asked that all three brides make him gifts, so that he could see which of them was the skillful. Prince Ivan again became thoughtful and wept: “What can my frog make? Everyone will laugh at me!” The frog only hopped about on the floor and croaked. When Prince Ivan fell asleep, she went out into the street, cast of her skin, turned into a lovely maiden, and cried: “Nurses, nurses! Make something!” The nurses at once brought a finely woven shirt. She took it, folded it, placed it beside Prince Ivan, and again turned......

...Film Critique Walt Disney’s The Princess and the frog I am going to write about three issues that I noticed in the film “The Princess and the Frog” by Disney. The three topics I am going to talk about are classism, discrimination, and stereotypes in that respected order. This film brought up several issues, but those are the three I chose to focus on because these three were more predominate throughout the film. Set in New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century, The Princess and the Frog concerns a poor African-American girl named Tiana who has a knack for cooking, and dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her best friend since childhood is a privileged white girl whose wealthy father employs Tiana's mother as a dressmaker. When the friend's family hosts a party for Prince Naveen of Maldonia, Dr. Facilier,a.k.a the Shadow Man, an expert in black magic, turns the visiting royal into a frog. The now amphibious Naveen convinces Tiana that a kiss will reverse the spell, and if she obliges him he'll provide the money she needs to open her dream restaurant. However, their smooch not only fails to turn him back into a human, but transforms Tiana into a frog as well. The duo then sets out to find a voodoo priestess who can set everything right.“www.fandango.com “ Let’s start with classism, which a biased or discriminatory attitude based on distinctions is made between social or economic classes or the viewing of society as being composed of distinct classes. ......

...Games People Play has sold millions of copies and is quite deserving of its place among the psychology classics. This essay will explore transactional analysis. It will explore the concepts which underpin this theory and look at it in comparison to other psychotherapeutic models. Finally, it shall explore how transactional analysis may be used within the therapeutic relationship. I will now begin by exploring the key principles within the theory of transactional analysis. The Princess and the Frog: Once upon a time, a wicked witch cast a spell upon a handsome prince, turning him into a frog. The only way in which the spell could be broken was with a kiss from a princess who loved him. When this happened, he would be set free and would live happily ever after with his princess. Berne stated that “Every human being is born a prince or a princess; early experiences convince some that they are frogs, and the rest of the pathological development follows from this”.# Like the prince in the story, we are all born as perfect and complete...

...Virginia Woolf is one of the most influential women authors of her time. She was a dedicated writer, especially when it referred to her inner feelings. Her work “A Room of One's Own” represents the struggles she went through as a women in a society where she was suppressed. This work was inspirational at the time, as many women didn't write about what they went through. She wrote about sensitive topics that could cause a lot of controversy. One of the main reasons Virginia Woolf about such topics is because she was tired of the way women were being treated. She even talks about how her brothers are sent of to prestigious college's while she learns at home. Reading the works of Virginia Woolf can give insight on the lives of women during the...

For many, including myself, the Princes, Princesses and fantastical creatures of Disney’s animated fairy tales have become symbols of their youth. Seeing the films gives rise to a feeling of nostalgia, they become a memento of one’s childhood world. But what kind of world is this? What kind of realities do Disney’s fantastical representations construct? In my thesis, I will analyze a specific element of Disney films: gender roles constructed through the representation of femininity in their animated features. I will study how this representation changes over time: has Disney’s......

...The story of “Frog King” is talking about a frog and the king’s youngest daughter, which is very beautiful. Form this story, I learned that everyone should be integrity and feel grateful, and then we will get happiness. Just like the princess and the frog. Frog helped princess before, so she did all the things according to frog’s requirement even though the princess do not want to keep her promise originally. Anyhow, the princess comes true her own words. If not, they will not get such happy ending. Beauty is such an obedient girl and she loves the beast although he is so ugly. It will be seen from this that beauty not just judge the beast by his looks. Personally, “Beauty and the beast” is similar with “Frog king”. The frog and the beast are all prince who had cast a spell on them. In some degrees, the princess and beauty are both honest and trust worthy so that they deserve living with their husband for a long time in perfect happiness. In my opinion, the reason of two heroine can get happiness at the end is their own high quality. They are worth to have happiness. The stories also warned people should be trustworthy, always grateful, obedient and never judge people form appearances. I've never noticed the ownership of fairy tales before I read the third article. It reminds me the ownership is so important. However, different people have different opinions. Besides, it also makes the fairy tale even greater in my...

...been a virtue most of us like to think we practice. But there are those who choose not to share compassion with others no matter how much they need it. After a small mouse disturbs a sleeping lion, the mouse is threatened with certain death. As a consequence of convincing the lion that he, a tiny mouse, could someday save his life, the lion set the mouse free. By releasing the lion from a net a few days later, the mouse proved the he could, after all, save the lion’s life. The compassion the lion had for the mouse proves that compassion is a trait that will not only make you feel good, but could save your life. Presson 2 Commitment Two Frogs in the Milk An Aesop Fable There is no better way to illustrate a person’s commitment to something important or relevant then to test their commitment in a life-or-death situation. The two frogs involved in this story, found themselves in their own life-or-death...

...No one else saw the impossible dream until it was finished in 1512. My heart bleeds to say that with growing age comes constantly fading credence to dream. We seldom realize the incredible power that we have within us; the power to believe in ourselves & live our visions. Ironically we tend to focus more than needed on the criticism & pessimistic talks pelted on us making us believe in 1000 reasons to not set out fearlessly to achieve the dream that we have. I would like to share the story of 3 Frogs that I read a while back: There was once a bunch of 3 tiny frogs, who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants. The race began… No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. They shouted, “Oh, way too difficult!!! They will NEVER make it to the top” and “Not a chance. The tower is too high”. The tiny frogs began...

...PRINCESS Okay, people. I wished upon a star. I guess it does make a difference who I are! Do I have to be some poor nobody wannabe? Do I need some kind of kryptonite like a little pea? Did my prince get turned into a frog and he's now hiding in some creepy bog waiting for me to find him? I don't even know how to swim. What's the use of dreaming anymore. No one is beating down my door. I need to be some kind of damsel in distress to get some attention I guess. Where's my Prince Charming? Is there something about me that's alarming? All I get is Prince Pampered who spends his whole life hampered by being royally stuck up. Or there's Prince Never Grow Up who is way too pretty in his curls. All these boys make me want to hurl. Why can't I find a man sized prince who will sweep me off my feet and take me to far away lands. He will hold me with his strong hands and devote his life to me. Is that what I want? Is that what I dream about? If I don't get it, will I forever pout and cry because I didn't get my way? I just want to feel special. I want to feel like they care. I want them to bravely face any challenge for me. Enter my heart if you dare. Lock me in a tower. Make me your precious flower. I want you to battle your way against dragons to win my love today. Quit playing with your toys and prove your worth to me, boys. I promise I will be the perfect princess for you to please. I will be good to you and I won't be a tease... much. Who am I......

...of the Disney world. Some particular films that I have studied include ‘Cinderella’, ‘Snow White’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Beauty and The Beast’, ‘Tangled’, and ‘Mulan’. Through the utilization of those films, I have carried my study in an order that would allow me to scrutinize the similarities assigned to the ‘pink’ customs fitted to Disney princesses, and any other differences that could break the code followed through years on the films – hence an investigation in the representation of conventional Disney princesses. Disney films have allowed children to compose a preconceived idea of women or female roles in the films or even in life altogether, as helpless, and in need of an external party (usually male – or the Prince Charming) to come in and switch their lives into the better. These stereotypical roles assigned to the princesses are usually coloured with the hue of certain behaviours, physical appearances and characteristic traits, which I will be looking into radically through the essay. For example, one factor that is most recurrent in Disney films is the value of physical appearance over wit or intellect. Secondly, the defenselessness and...

...Turning Negative to Positive: African American Portrayal in Media As the day progresses into the late evening hour most of America sits in front of their televisions impatiently waiting to watch their favorite shows. From prime time television to viral videos on YouTube, media has become one of the most influential areas of life. The clothes we wear, slogans we say, and actions we portray are all influenced by media. For example, in 2012 “Ain’t nobody got time for that” became a popular slogan which transcended from a news interview that went viral. Although the slogan was catchy, it became famous more so for the way it was presented. The interviewee was an African American female who was a victim of a house fire. With the female being very passionate and animated while speaking in an urban accent, it provided for great entertainment. Sadly, that news interview lacked the appropriate representation of African Americans. The way media portrays a certain message “can have an inordinate influence on the public’s perception of blacks” (Holt 6). Audiences have been a witness to negative portrayal of African Americans since the days of “blackface”, where Caucasian American actors painted their faces black to depict African Americans. According to blog author Michelle Whalen, “now, more than ever, images of African Americans are transcending racial stereotypes and forging ahead into the fight for equality” (1). In the past two decades, media has been successful in providing......

...David pins her froggy hands to the dissection tray. He spreads her froggy legs and pins her froggy feet,” (Anderson 81). Once again this frog is like Melinda. During the assault Melinda describes a feeling much like what she experiences as she is about to cut the frog open. Anderson describes when this princess’ hands and feet are pinned down she suddenly becomes less than a princess and just a frog again. The position of the frog evokes the same image a that victim would. It shows the same helpless Feeling that many victims feel even when in safe environments. After losing the feeling of independence from someone taking it away by force, fear becomes preminanate. Fear will affect even the smallest of choices in any victims life after an assault. The frog represents this feeling of fear and hopelessness. This pattern is used again when a dead dog is spotted on the side of the road. While in the car with Mr.Freeman, Melinda thinks to herself. Anderson states, “As I thaw, I count the mileage markers on the side of the road, keeping an eye out for interesting roadkill...We pass a dead dog. It doesn't have a collar," (Anderson 121). Melinda has been left astray....

...Blossom and Grueba Blossom and Grueba Deep in a swamp in a faraway town lied a lily pad community known for its marshy waters and remoteness, called Caymaris. Within its population there was a beautiful bullfrog named Blossom whom every one envied, for her long green legs, slender torso, and stunning emerald eyes, she was the talk of the bog. Other Inhabitants all prayed one day to be as alluring as her. Though Blossom was the fairest Bullfrog in her town, her sister Grueba did not have any of these attributes. She was polar opposite of Blossom, the kindest, hardworking Frog you could ever meet. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and volunteered to deliver food to all the hungry frogs of the town. Her torso was compact, round, and her eyes were off centered and as black as coal, and the legs she used to carry out her kindness were short and stumpy. Blossom never wanted any of the bayou to know that Grueba was her sister, for she thought she’d be ridiculed. Daily Blossom would go about her routine of awaking dressing prim and proper even styling her hair with a neatly done ponytail and a gigantic white bow adhering it together. While Grueba's hair was always a mess, and all the kids teased her and called her names. Every morning on their treacherous walk to school across the wetland and through the forest Blossom would be sure to stride far ahead of Grueba, to ensure that none of her classmates could see that they were......

.... . 0/ The GOD of the Hebrews versus the Egyptian gods Rev. Bryant S. Williamson Prof. Linda Reaves Writing and Research 215, Strayer University November 8, 2011 Intoduction There is a belief in a supreme being by all religions on earth. I believe that the same GOD of the Hebrews is this GOD because of his display of power over the Egyptian gods. This report looks at one account of many in the bible where GOD uses an ordinary man to free his people from bondage in Egypt using signs and wonders. The God of the Hebrews Versus the Egyptian gods One of the most awesome displays of power and love in the Bible is the deliverance of Gods’ people from Egypt. They were lead out of Egypt by Moses, a Hebrew found floating in an ark by Pharaohs daughter as a child. Moses, now grown, went out unto his people and saw an Egyptian beating one of his brethren and killed the Egyptian. After hearing of what Moses had done the Pharaoh sought to kill him but Moses had fled to the city of Midian and as time went on the King of Egypt died and the children of Israel (Hebrews) cried out to God because of their bondage. Thus the Lord remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and Jacob and sent Moses as the deliverer of his people. Moses is then encountered in the presence of God being called out of the mist of a burning bush and is given instructions to return to Egypt with Aaron where he demands that Pharaoh set his people free. And Pharaoh replies “Who is the Lord......
