The History of Walker Corporation
Matthew Walker is the owner of Walker Corporation. He started out using his experience from the military to run security jobs. He managed the security for bars and clubs until he had enough experience to branch out into private security. The private security consists of personal bodyguards for international visitors, transportation of valuable items, and video surveillance. Another section of Walker Corp. is devoted to repossessions. Currently Matthew has business with banks and loan officers in the state of Georgia. When someone is in default of their payment of an object, it is repossessed by one of Matthew’s employees. Matthew has developed his company to cover any section involving legal recovery of an object or person. Matthew’s bail bondsman group is responsible for providing bail for people charged of a crime. If the person doesn’t appear when ordered by either the court or a member of Walker Corp, then a bail recovery agent is sent to recover that person. Matthew’s wife Ashley helps him with the paperwork aspect of the business. She is responsible for the organization of when and where there is a job needed. She also helps with publicity. All Matthew’s members of Walker Corporation are licensed by the state in their required fields.
Matthew Walker chose to pursue these fields because of his military background. He wanted to design a group that could supply prior military that have combat experience with jobs that they could excel in. Most people, with only a combat background, when leaving the military only make minimum

Decades

...Victor Ly SS English Mrs. Beauchamp Wednesday, July 10, 2013 The 90s Decade Did you know that Toy Story was the first movie to be created by computers during the 90s? The 90s was a great time period of change not only for the United States, but also for the whole world. This time period did include ups and downs, though. Many problems had erupted and many obstacles were ran into. This was a time period where these problems and obstacles had to be overcome. So, what was done? The 90s is an important decade in history because many of those obstacles have been tamed and controlled. Although, there were many problems, George Herbert Walker Bush, The Persian Gulf War, and the World Wide Web changed the fate of this world. The 90s brought former president of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush. George H. W. Bush was born on June 12, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts. He grew up in New York City. During World War ll, Bush became the youngest navy flying pilot. In 1945, he married Barbara Pierce and attended Yale. There, he majored in economics, was captain of the baseball team, and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa Honors in 1948. During his presidency, Bush worked very much in the White House for eight years. “Bush traveled more than a million and a half kilometers and visited some 75 nations as a special emissary for the president…” (Grolier 1) Bush was then elected for president of the United States in 1988. Costco History

...The History of Costco DeAna Castro Wilmington University Abstract Costco is a members only, international retail chain discount warehouse. An abstract is a summary of the paper that should be 250 words or less. It is not the same as the introduction. This will be the only paragraph in your essay that is NOT indented. It often contains topic, methods of research, discussion of literature, and conclusions. Please ask your instructor what he or she wants to see. The History of Costco The history of Costco began in July of 1976 in San Diego California and its name was Price Club. It was cofounded by Sol and Robert Price. The newly designed business was the first ‘warehouse’ business of it’s kind. This retail business originally targeted other business owners, but blended retail and wholesale. Price Club had unbeatable low prices and sold bulk items. Three years later, 1979, Price Club expanded two new locations. They acquired 200,000 members and profited 1 million dollars. Despite the loss of profits the first year, Price Club’s expansion proved profitable. Jim Sinegal is a key player to the success of Costco because he started his career being mentored by Sol Price. He worked in the warehouse business at Price Club and another warehouse business called Fedmart. (Cardon). 1983, Jim Sinegal and Jeff Brottman would open their own warehouse club near Seattle Washington, and it was called Costco Wholesale (Daft, 2012 pp. 605). One year later...

Criminology

...constructing public’s view of what crime is, there is more to it than what we see, hear or witness around us. The most common definition of which crime is described would be an act or behaviour that is prohibited by the criminal code (Walklate, 2011) (Walker, 1987) (Coleman & Norris, 2000). Coleman and Clive (2000) also identifies a criminal as the individual who performs the act. However, what is characterised as criminal could change over time and could also differ between societies (Coleman & Cline, 2000), as an act could be prohibited in one place but considered normal for another. In some countries, people are allowed to freely sell, purchase and use Cannabis while other countries prohibits it. This shows that even though there is a widespread use of this term, what constitutes it varies across the world. The reign of Hitler in Nazi Germany is a major example on the change of what is viewed as a ‘crime’, the annihilation of the Jews during that time was not evaluated as a crime. However, looking back, the Holocaust is regarded as the greatest warcrime in our history. Coleman and Clive (2000) also classified crimes in the corporate world which they referred to as ‘Corporate Crime’, or offences committed by professionals and corporations. These type of crimes often go undiscovered because it is usually seen as a victimless crime. Also, these crimes are rarely broadcasted or exposed to the public through media, and that is one of the reasons why most of us are unaware of such...

Feminism: the Notions of Gender

...it moves beyond the political and economic issues at heart of the women’s movement…, such as tearing down the hierarchical structure of sex and gender roles and changing the way people view men, women, and gender”(255). She believed that it wasn’t a such thing as “a women’s place”(255). In The Color Purple Alice Walker shows us that women can over come oppression and become stronger if they believe they can. Unlike Celie in The Color Purple, Alice Malsenior Walker had a fairly happy childhood. She was the last of eight children born by her parents. She began 1st grade at the age of four and was very successful. She was very happy with her life “…until an accident (a brother shot her with a BB gun) blinded her in one eye and made her feel ugly”(Taylor2614). After the accident her grades began to fall because she was unhappy and the children at her school began tease her. After having surgery on her eye, She regained her confidence and graduated valedictorian of her class. The Color Purple took place in a time where women believed that the man was in charge. Back then women weren’t allowed to express their opinions. In the first sentence of The Color Purple, Walker shows us how Celie’s stepfather would rape her and threaten her to do what he wanted. “You better not never tell no body but God. It’d kill your mammy”(1). Her step father represented a male figure commanding her to be silent, and to do what she was told. Later in the book, Celie’s stepfather married her off...

En 209 Civil Disobedience Critical Essay

...Lloyd Wyse Melissa Hull EN 209-014 April 18, 2012 Critical Essay: Civil Disobedience Civil disobedience is the active refusal to comply with certain laws or demands of a government, such as paying fines or taxes. Although it is not necessarily on-violent, it has classically been attributed to nonviolent resistance. The etymological origin of the term is from Henry David Thoreau’s essay Resistance to Government, written in 1849, which was eventually renamed to Essay on Civil Disobedience. Since its republication in 1866, Thoreau’s essay has inspired many important activists over the course of history. Its messages have resonated within countless people unsatisfied or disgusted with the law of the land; one of the most prominent lessons it teaches is that an unjust government can only be corrected by the defiance of its people. As long as there is an imperfect government, there will be a need for civil disobedience. Citizens of nations from all over the globe still read and learn from Civil Disobedience because even in modern times a perfect government does not exist. In Civil Disobedience, Thoreau prompts the reader to take direct action against injustice. He argues that the government is a representative of corruption and injustice that, like a machine, fuels the enabling of its wrongdoings through enforcement of law. He states that an individual’s silent compliance with the law is essentially the same as cooperation with injustices that the lawmaker commits. In particular...

People of the South Pacific

...The area of the South Pacific is a diverse and dynamic environment, full of many cultures that are all unique and yet share a common theme. The Polynesian triangle was settled over two and a half thousand years ago by ocean voyagers, known as the Lapita, from the Indonesian area. After settling islands across the South Pacific, the Lapitas developed communities based on cooperation and reciprocity(define..here or..?). Centuries later Polynesians began moving away from the islands to industrialized nations for education or better jobs. They remained in touch with their relatives back home and some even built support networks for the migrants who came after them. Movement is a dominant trait of South Pacific culture and history.Well done Zach They move to seek a better future for their village, to try and assert themselves in the modern world, and sometimes they are forced to start movements of resistance against a world that views them as conquerable savages. This introductory paragraph flows, is nearly (!) accurate, and a pleasure to read. Thank you. The movement and migration of Polynesians to find higher education, higher pay, or even a higher standard of living is not done for the interests of the individual, but rather for the interests of the family, village, or even the nation as a whole. A prime example of this is seen through the Tongan culture, and their economic infrastructure that is based almost entirely on remittances. Remittances are the payments of cash, goods...

Management

...has been scandalised by the discovery that the man chosen to run its prestigious St Luke’s hospital complex for the past year led a double life. John Frederick Bundy hoodwinked the 13 member hospital Board – which includes some of the most prominent names in Sydney medicine and business – into believing that he was a successful businessman, a university graduate, CPA and a man with a stable family life. In fact, none of this was true, and when the Board belatedly found out who the real John Bundy was, he resigned on the spot. The bespectacled, apparently respectable 45-year-old businessman who entrusted with the care of the 200-odd patients at St Luke’s in Potts Point and its adjacent nursing home turned out to be a man with a history of business failure, a high-living pilot and part-time racing car driver who was two-timing his wife in Melbourne with a mistress. Not only that, a routine check with a credit agency would have revealed that Bundy and his legal wife had court judgements for more than $6000 worth of debts outstanding against them, some involving the operation of a business in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn, known as the Hotham City Diner and Bar, and others relating to his red-striped Beechcraft Duke, a six-seater twin-engine executive plane. When Bundy told the Board in 1990 that he had ‘an impressive background in general management’ he was, in fact, telling the truth-though not perhaps in the way those leading Anglicans imagined. For much of the...

In other words, the problem is identify and discuss examples of ‘Corruption’ of varying sizes, importance to the local community and nation, and the media exposure of each. To begin my research, I sought to get a clear workable definition of ‘Corruption’ as evidenced by the three almost distinct definitions presented in the text...The research also involved interviews of community members. The third phase of my research involved reading and investigating what newspaper’s reported on ‘Corruption’; what writers and scholars from academia recorded; and what I could gleam from magazines and other periodicals. ...For the exclusive use of W. HUANG Harvard Business School 9-201-016 Rev. April 29, 1983 Allen Distribution Company On June 16, 1967, William McConnell of the mid-Atlantic office of the Allen Distribution Company was considering whether the company should extend a credit limit of $1,000 to the Morse Photo Company of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. McConnell had recently become credit manager of the mid-Atlantic branch office, where he assumed full responsibility for initiating and supervising the branch's credit policies. When he assumed this position, McConnell had asked the five credit representatives who had been handling the branch's accounts on their own to submit to him for review a few borderline credit accounts waiting for credit limits to be established. McConnell believed that his decision and method of analysis might prove helpful in setting the tone of future operations in the credit department. Therefore, he planned to write out his analysis and decision so that it could be circulated. The Allen Distribution Company, a subsidiary of the Allen Electric Company, one of the nation's largest manufacturers of electrical appliances and lighting equipment, was a national wholesale distributor of the parent company's products. Paradoxical Thinking of Google

...perspectives, and finding the same thing which is deep down in two opposite perspectives. (Westenholz, 1993) For example, in the 1830's, Faraday had observed that a current of electricity passing through a wire could cause the magnetized needle, which was located close to the wire, to move in a rotational direction. This was the basis of his electric motor. But he didn't stop with this. He twist his mind and found that moving magnets can cause electricity to flow. This is one of the most brilliant application of paradoxical thinking. Paradoxical thinking has helped plenty of companies to be successful. Analysis of Jet Blue Airways

...Analysis of Jet Blue Airways BUS 599 October 19, 2010 Analysis of Jet Blue Airways JetBlue Airways Corporation is an American low cost airline. Since 2001, the U.S. airline industry has faced an unprecedented set of challenges. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the airline industry reported tremendous losses and several of the largest U.S. airlines filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy protection (Flouris, Walker, 2005). As a result, the airline industry has been more creative in their strategic marketing plans to remain financially viable. Many airlines have led the way with innovative ideas to retain, gain, and build their customer base. JetBlue Airlines has followed the path of most airlines but as one of the leading low cost air carriers, Jet Blue’s business strategy differentiates from most airlines. Trends in the U.S. Airline Industry and Impact on Strategy Trends in today’s U.S. airlines industry continue to show a drastic departure from business practices of previous years. With the constant increases in the price of conducting business, airlines are searching for ways to make or increase profit. Passengers are often charged for many amenities once offered free of charge by the airlines. Due to one of the most severe economic recessions in recent years, passengers should expect these trends in the airline industry to continue. However, prospects for the airline industry look a lot brighter as the industry continues to persevere and move...

Media Ownership

...Professor: Bush Walker November 8, 2013 Media Conglomerate Ownership in the U.S. The United States is being greatly affected by conglomerate ownership of media properties in today's industry. A conglomerate is formed when a large company merges with separate and diverse small firms. By definition a media conglomerate is a large company or corporation that has merged with a number of different media outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers and Internet. Big companies have the tendency to expand by diversifying their holdings among different media products, never fully dominating a particular media industry. A decreasing number of organizations gaining control over an increasing amount of mass media, which defines media consolidation, leads to an oligopoly in the marketplace. Large companies create an oligopoly when only a handful of them dominate the industry and face little economic competition from small independent firms.[1] In 1983, a total of fifty corporations dominated most of the media industry. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, that number shrunk to twenty-nine by 1987. Twenty-three companies had control of the industry by 1990 and in 1997 that number was ten. Presently, media ownership has been concentrated in the hands of only six extremely powerful media conglomerates.[2] The six corporations that control media collectively in the United States today are Comcast, The Walt Disney Company, CBS Corporation, Time Warner, Viacom and News Corporation.[3] These...
