The economy, including businesses and government, are always changing and adapting to new social demands. These common claims are a result of people's wants and needs requiring to be filled with specific reasonable requirements (timely and cost effective). "The world is entering an era in which the most powerful law is not that of sovereignty but that of supply and demand (Kinley, D., & Joseph, S., 2002)". Sometimes this means that a business needs to grow to accommodate these needs and wants. To keep customers happy and fulfill their requirements of getting it promptly and at a reasonable price, corporations have been expanding their business to other countries or outsourcing many of their operations. Most importantly they must know the definition of business ethics to decide if they are doing what is morally acceptable. "Advocates of business ethics often look to human nature to explain abuses or to propose a path of change" (n.a., 2012). I believe this excerpt from the textbook can be broken down to mean that to determine if something is right or wrong in business ethics, people look at what people's general feelings and behavioral traits are of that issue and sometimes they can use this as an excuse to change a current existing …show more content…
This means that we can tell the difference between fundamental right and wrong decisions. This translates over into the role of corporations. They must respect those with whom they have a business relationship with. I like Kant's maxim where he says, "one should treat others as ends and never solely as means"(). This means that the people that help managers reach the goals of the organization should realize that the people are essential in the end. Their goal should be to treat people as though their primary goal was to do well for their employees. Employees are more than just a tool used to reach a company's goal. Managers, therefore, must ensure that they do not undermine the liberty of a person and be able to make sure that minimal welfare rights to physical wellbeing are met. In my opinion, their goal should be to go above and beyond this. If a company were to go above and beyond this, I believe, in the long run, that a company's bottom line will be significantly impacted positively. Yes, it will cost more money to show your employees you care about them, but it makes you look better to your potential customers and will hopefully positively impact the bottom
