The title could mean different things, but I think that it is an emphasis on God’s will being all that matters and the importance of recognizing it.
The Indians and the Bahamans who I believe are people of wisdom and people in sync with nature warn Janie and Tea Cake that a hurricane is coming. But Tea Cake dismisses the warning that could be considered as a message from God. A message he chooses to ignore because he has become too dependent on money.
