Growing up in Laredo, TX has been very fortunate due to the opportunities this country has. Laredo, TX is a border town in Texas so you get the best of both countries. My family has always been by my side guiding me through my toughest decisions. They continue raising me into a decent adult to prepare me for the real world. My dad grew up in Mexico striving to build a better life for himself and achieved it by earning his associates degree here in Laredo. My dad always wanted to study further into his bachelors but, unfortunately, got held back to take care of us. My dad is the only one that works because my mom was to take care of me and my two other sisters. This incoming year of 2016-2017 will be very tough on my dad because both my sister and I will be attending college in San Antonio, TX. …show more content…
In fact, volunteering at an elementary was not easy at all. Through the experience of volunteering there, the teachers and staff are always on task taking care of the children and assessing them to learn and behave. There were several tasks teachers faced due to the fact that they are there to assist children to receive an education. It was exciting to work with the children and setting an example for the future generations. Furthermore, volunteering in a library help students realize how imperative to pick up a book is. Reading is like food for the brain. It is unbelievable knowing how many books the library has to offer and how much of a hassle it is to organize books back in their place. Lastly, a personal preference would be volunteering at a church since the church will always be in the need of
