2.4 Behavioural factor

The next independent variable in this research is behavioral factor. Behavioral factor has been seen as one of the factor that contributes to the increase of employment among foreign workers in certain sectors. In determining the behavioral factor that involve in this study, the researchers choose MARS Model, which is introduced by McShane (2013), as a guideline. MARS Model is an acronym for motivation, ability, role perceptions and situational factors. Omollo (2015) stated that elements in MARS Model are greatly connected to each other, which affect the employee behavior and performance. Two words, ‘role’ and ‘perception’ have already give significant meaning to this element itself. Role perceptions are the way the foreign worker perceived on their roles for their jobs. Specifically, it is the extent to which the foreign workers understand the job duties designated to or expected of them (McShane, 2013). This element is the most crucial part in MARS Model since it guides the workers’ direction of effort and improves coordination with co-workers. Role perceptions are consisted of three parts that are basically the understanding to the workers’ specific tasks, the priority of their various tasks and expected performance, and the preferred behavior or procedures for completing the assigned tasks. Foreign worker has been seen to have this element because they are likely to be more obedient and accept any jobs given to them on condition that they get paid (UK Essays, 2015). That is why employers are favor to employ them because of their willingness to do the job without demanding about wages. This is has been supported by Hamid, Singh, Yusof and Abdullah (2011), that the attitude of the foreign workers is better than the local people because they are not choosy with the working condition and the type of work assigned to them, the foreign worker do not question about the salary paid to them and they are more disciplined on site. Basically, cost efficient means productive or effective in relation to its cost (Dictionary.com, 2016). Then, cost effective means produce good results without costing a lot of money (Merriam-Webster, 2015). Some scholars see cost efficiency as one of factor of employability of foreign worker as compared to local. Teo (2016) includes in an article that even though government come out with rehiring program to curb issue on inflow of foreign worker, industry players urge government to reconsider the program as they are in high need of foreign workers to maintain their production. Employers will choose to hire whether local workers or domestic workers that incur less cost for same level of productivity (Gross, 2014). The most focusing cost for this research is cost of wages of the workers. Gross (2014) stated that due to labor shortage occurs to a country, the initiative to hire foreign worker to solve the problem of shortage of workers actually avoid rate of wages to rise which significantly reduce the cost of production of output by the employer. This is because the decreasing rate of wages declines the interest of domestic worker to take the related jobs and lead to the jobs to be filled quickly by the foreign workers. A model explaining the impact of different factors on online shopping intentions and behavior is developed based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. The model is then tested empirically in a longitudinal study with two surveys. Data collected from 705 consumers indicate that subjective norms, attitude, and beliefs concerning the consequences of online shopping have significant effects on consumers’ intentions to buy online. Behavioral control and intentions significantly influenced online shopping behavior.
