Sales Memo

...MEMORANDUM To: All Staff and Lab Students From: Lorrian McMaster, Assistant Costume Designer Date: September 31, 2015 Subject: Advertising Shows It has come to my attention that The Ring Theater performances are not really advertised to the public and the entire student body to the best of our ability. It is so bad that only the students in the school of theater are the only ones who really know about our shows and maybe their families. We need to start having more full houses and try reaching out to everyone. Therefore, I am introducing a new policy that mandates that employees come up with a new way of advertising the show to the public every Wednesday, as it is our slowest day. Some ideas we could start with are making flyers for every school on campus as well as calendars, shirts that we would wear around campus or even pens that we could give out with the public with the information about the shows. If you do not work on Wednesdays, I suggest you still come up with ideas and submit them to Gema, the staff manager, on Tuesday before you leave and she will implement them on Wednesdays. I believe that if everyone that works in the shop presents a new idea and it is enforced as a team weekly, we definitely would have more sold out shows and this will also give our actors more opportunity to show case their talent to a larger crowd and potentially to recruiters. We work too hard not to be recognized! Thank you for your cooperation and I look forward to......

Utilitarianism

...opportunity for indulging them; and they addict themselves to inferior pleasures, not because they deliberately prefer them, but because they are either the only ones to which they have access, or the only ones which they are any longer capable of enjoying.” This quote is especially important for understanding Mill’s defense of utilitarianism in front of critiques that suggest this doctrine to be one of immediate pleasure; a doctrine that will stop people from accelerating their development and enriching their character through knowledge. The critique addresses the focus of utilitarianism as a doctrine that emphasizes immediate and animalistic pleasures and turns them into the main reason for being. Mill’s response is trying to reconcile the idea of a dual man, one that enjoys animalistic pleasures as well as, what the author calls, superior pleasures that come with knowledge and experience. The argument proposes the idea of a bifocal man, capable of both superior and inferior pleasures. The explanation offered in this quote explains the subordination relationship between the two, and how man is capable of avoiding regression into his/hers animalistic instinct without giving up the non-refined pleasure of life. Mill’s hypothesis is that a person is always going to choose the elevated, educated pleasure over the inferior one, because once taste is acquired of the first, the latter becomes unsatisfactory. However, he accepts the possibility that a person can and......

...can for the recently discharged veteran’s. There are many young men and women that have served their country with pride and sacrifice that the average American will never know. We should never have to be put thru a system that is backlog worse than anything we have to offer. I feel that there needs to be a new system put into place and if that means that the government must give up this job to an outside company, it will only make the system that the veterans use better. Having to deal with the VA Having had to deal with and go thru the VA myself I can for one say that the system has many errors that need to be addressed. One is the long wait time for something as simple and being seen by a doctor. Two getting paperwork that the Military messed up corrected. Ways the system could change I know that by me writing this the system will never change, and I also know that right now that government has so much money tied into the VA that things will never change and the only ones that will suffer will be the veterans. Conclusion I would hope that one day there will be a system in place that will be more veteran friendly and easier to work with and deal with. I would like to see a system that will be there for the veteran and there...

...is a part of who we are. What Almir Suri and his team are doing is really moving. Knowing that some people are still helping secure their culture, traditions and natural richness is very affecting, more so if those people are not even part of that particular tribe. But by just mingling with them, learning their culture and such, they began to be attached to them and felt like they are one of them which are good. Like them, all of us have to really see and know how these tribes are living on their own. All of us must respect every single person in that tribe as human beings. The only reason why some of the members of the tribe are being a danger to the modern people is that they feel threaten. It’s saddening that slowly the tribes are disappearing and that some people just forget about them like they never existed. Well honestly, they are not the only ones that will be gone but the beautiful surroundings that they are also trying to preserve. Like the forest in Brazil, it is the Surui Indian tribe who are protecting this from the illegal loggers. Their lives are being threatened and they have no one protecting them from it except with their beliefs. It’s really a relief that they have Almir Suri who is part of their tribe and is really trying to fight for the tribe’s survival. Even though he had study in a nice university outside their place, he hasn’t forgotten where he came from and is still ready to help them grow more. Also, I think Almir is trying to show the world that......

Danish Essay

...“It’s only me” I think the article was given the title “It’s only me” because many children think that they’re all alone and they are the only ones who are miserable. But in fact: they are not. They are not the only children who are being bullied, and they are not the only ones to feel neglected by their parents: they are not alone. But it may feel like it, and that needs to change. I see a clear pattern of the backgrounds, of the actions, the children who did a shooting. They should seek for help and not keep it all inside. The title is saying a lot about how many children feel sometimes. “I’m odd”, “I do not fit in” and “I am definitely the only one to fell like this” – actually they are not, they just don’t realise it and that’s one of the major problem in these cases. Andy Williams is not the only one to feel like this. I like the title, mostly because we all tried to have that feeling of being the “only one”/”the odd one” and it also make you realise a lot of thinks about how others may feel about actions you might make. If I had to choose another title, I would call it: “A cry for help”. It’s catchy and I think that’s what those children’s actions are based on: a cry for help. They want those things, which make them miserable, to stop. The first impression of the writer’s attitude, according to me, is that he makes you think of Andrew like “he was the one who started” or “he inspired others to do it” - but the further you read, he make you realise and points......

Diversity in Work Place

...for promotions, are seen as less confident, and are not considered as worthwhile when it comes to individuals giving their ideas and helping out with teamwork. Much of this comes from childhood when little girls were taught to be nice to other individuals and help to downplay their weaknesses, while little boys were taught to play up the weaknesses of other individuals and claim strength and domination if they were able (Tannen, 1995; Adams & Galanges, 2005). Individuals who come from one part of the country to another also face this and some men who lack a great deal of self-confidence and are not willing to speak up are also treated as though they are weak. Because of this, many women are overlooked for promotions and other issues in which they are extremely well-qualified but it is not believed that they are confident enough to do the job due to the fact that they do not speak up in the same manner that men do (Michard & Viollet, 1991). Women are not the only ones having difficulty, however. One of the main issues for organizational behavior that is both a challenge and an opportunity is the diversity of the workforce, and this is usually evidenced by conflict. Conflict is common within many organizations, and the larger they are the more potential they have for conflict. This is largely due to the greater number of diverse and conflicting viewpoints. People all have different ideas of how things should be done, and when those ideas clash on a particular project, conflict......

...Your boss is making 7 million dollars per year and driving a luxury car. You, on the other hand, are working hard every day for free and living in poverty. Sure, you have a free place to live with meals and education included, but you have no extra money for other necessities. You did not save enough money in high school and your family does not have money to give you. You are a college athlete. Athletic boosters tempt the athletes with illegal benefits because most do not have money for their own use. The NCAA makes millions of dollars off a college athlete’s performance. The NCAA is a not-for-profit agency that does not operate like one. If college athletes received a yearly stipend from the NCAA, then they might not be lured to take illegal benefits and would have spending money to enjoy the college life experience and pay for needed college items, such as a computer or supplies. For those reasons, college athletes should be paid by the NCAA for the services they provide to their schools. Critics against student athletes being paid believe in the benefits of the athletic scholarship. However, past athletes received improper benefits, financial and otherwise. Reggie Bush accepted improper benefits when he played football for University of Sothern California. According to the article, “Paying College Athletes,” “…current NFL star Reggie Bush-had violated its amateurism rules when his family moved into an expensive home owned by a local......

...In the Bible, Christ’s resurrection is explored after his death, leading into resurrection. Events that lead to his demise lead to his return in the real world, bringing a new and insightful light to the story. The significance of Christ being able to self-resurrect back into the world is because he’s the only one to ever do it, and do it successfully, whereas other Gods don’t have the ability to do so. To further explain, according to the Bible, Christ is the only deity but self identified man to essentially do this. Considering his abilities is through God, and God wanted reveal to man proof of his power through Jesus, without directly showing it to them like many times prior, by raising Jesus from the dead. To emphasize this, “because He has appointed a day on which, He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” Christ had mentioned several times that his death and resurrection would be the one thing to give to the sinful and unbelieving world God made for them. Such as, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Further explaining that he knew he would be able to come back with ease. Foreknowing one’s own death is common in most......

An Immigrant is a person who seek to find refuge into a country to which they are not native in order to settle there, especially as a permanent resident or future citizens. ...Folk Narrative – plays an essential part in social and culture life. ORIGIN MYTHS The Visayan Creation Myth A long time ago, there were two Gods - Maguayan, ruler of water, and Kaptan, ruler of the sky. One day, the two Gods decided to marry their children. Three sons were born from this union - Likalibutan was extremely brave and strong, Liadlao was made of gold and was always cheerful, and Libulan, made of copper, was timid and weak. Lisuga was the only daughter, she was made of silver and was very beautiful, gentle and sweet. Sadly, they were orphaned at a young age, but their grandparents took care of them and protected them from evil. Eventually, the siblings grew up to be strong and beautiful. One day, Likalibutan, proud of his strength and power, decided to attack Kaptan's sky kingdom. Scared of their brother, Liadlao and Libulan were coerced into joining him and they left for the sky kingdom. An enormous steel gate was blocking their way, but Likalibutan summoned the wind and knocked it down. When Kaptan came to know of this, he got furious and fired them with lightning bolts. A lightning bolt landed on each of the three brothers. Likalibutan's rock-like body fragmented into a thousand pieces and fell down in the sea, Liadlao and Libulan melted into balls of gold and copper, respectively. Worried for her brothers, Lisuga came searching for them, but Kaptan, still fuming, attacked her as well. Her silver body too, was scattered into a million......

...Club IT BIS 219 May 2, 2011 Club IT While I was an intern I was responsible for analyzing Club IT’s needs, I decided to pay them a visit one weekend and see for myself what needed to be done. Although I had a wonderful time, I started to wonder about the club and the people that it attracts.. I did notice that it had a young feel to it, with heart pumping music, lighting, special effects and would be very popular with the people young of age. This could also be a nice place for the older crowd to hang out also. There were several IT issues that started going through my mind. I decided to look over the club’s website to see how much of the club’s information was available to the public and if it needed any adjusting. I decided that the Customer Orientation Strategy would give Club It the best competitive advantage. This is because the despite all of the club’s potential, it was still very empty. Creating an excellent mission statement, addressing the IT needs in relation to the Club’s needs, and performing the customer orientation strategy will enhance this club’s IT ability and clientele. Shortly after viewing Club IT’s website, I noticed that they already had an appealing mission statement in place. That mission statement is “We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT." (Club IT ) Their mission statement is quite......
