Men labor was crucial for the survival of the land and the prosperity of the colonies. As for other sex, women where inessential to men but for bearing children and maintain their household. This fluctuations in the population had an overwhelming effect on women since many historians believe that women came to the New World with the advantage of disproportionate ratios that allowed them to get husbands in the colonies.
