Did you know that Pit Bulls are one of the most dangerous and vicious dogs you can own? In some states there is a law that you can not own a Pit Bull.
I believe that Pit Bulls should not be allowed as pets for the following reasons. First, Pit Bulls will attack anyone. Second, they are known as guard dogs. Third, their bite is very powerful and can badly injure a person or animal. Pit Bulls can and will attack anyone, that is why Miami-Dade County voted to keep Pit Bulls out. They made this decision after a Pit Bull viciously attacked a young child causing her to need many surgeries after the incident. Pit Bulls are also known as guard dogs and will attack anyone they do not know. That is why bad people chose Pit Bulls as pets.

For example, in Source 4 it talks about how they attack if there's a problem. One of the quotes is. Other breeds of dogs can attack people, these incidents go unmentioned in the news, even at the local level. They can also protect you by their barking. Their loud barking can intimidate other people or predators and scare them away. Another reason why they can protect you is because they are one of the “ Breeds” that are one of the strongest and buffest pets ever. Their strongest and buffness can already tell the other person or predator to not mess with them because they will know to not mess with you. For the most part, this is the reason why we should allow Pit Bulls as pets....

Buying vs. Renting

...Buying Versus Renting Ashley Mawhorter 1/11/2011 Axia College of University of Phoenix Every American has dreamed of owning their own dream home, whether they are young or old. Still many Americans choose to rent apartments. Why is this? There are many more pros when individuals decide to buy a home. That is why buying a home is a better option than renting an apartment. Jumping right into the first home one sees is also not the proper way to buy a home. Much time and research needs to be done and many things taken into consideration before deciding the best decision. Do I want to have a landlord, or be the landlord? How much can I afford if I choose to buy a home? Where do I want to be located and what style home am I looking for? Are there any pros and cons to buying verse renting? How much would property taxes be yearly? These are all important questions to take into consideration, and that will be covered in paragraphs to come. First and most important is figuring out how much each individual can afford. On ginniemae.gov there are two calculators that can help to determine individual financial status. The first calculator helps individuals to determine the advantages and considerations of owning verse renting a home (http://www.ginniemae.gov). Using the calculator I have come up with an example. If I were renting a home that cost 800 dollars a month and I wanted to buy a house I found for 100,000 I would simply calculate the percentage of down payment, length of...

Breed Specific Legislation

...off, dogs are a product of what their owners make them. There are 78.2 million dogs owned in the United States alone and out that only 4.8 million have attacked; that is 12% of the population of dogs (www.humanesociety.org). Moreover, out of the 4.8 million dogs that have attacked most of them were raised and trained to attack by their owners. In the United States alone, dogfighting has been a big issue within urban areas. Dogs are put in a small closed off area to fight one another until one dog can no longer fight. The most common dog to be involved in a dogfight, and the number one dog to be banned, is commonly known as the Pit bull. What many people do not know though, is that the pit bull isn’t just one breed of dog. The American pit bull terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers and bulldog are all referred to as pit bulls, as well. In...

Free Tilikum

...FREE TILLY Chistine Medina It happened late in February in 2010. Families with children of all ages were seated in Shamu Stadium waiting and watching for their star to give its world famous performance. His name was Tilikum and the 12,000-pound killer whale had performed the same routine with the same trainers many times before. However, on that day in February, something was different. News reports claimed that it was “trainer error’ that caused Tilikum to grab his trainer, Dawn Brancheau’s, ponytail and drag her into the water with him. It took the other trainers 45 minutes to extricate Brancheau’s body, which Tilikum held in his mouth and would not let go. All the trainers in Sea World, located in Orlando, Florida, as well as other locations throughout the United States, agreed that Tilikum was well behaved, easy to work with and always eager to please. So what exactly made Tilikum act so violently and take the life of his trainer? There is a reason that there have been no documented deaths of humans by killer whales in the wild – it is obvious that being forced to live and perform in captivity is the reason behind it. It has been argued and scientifically proven that no human being has ever been killed by a killer whale, or orca, in the wild. On the other hand, there at least a dozen documented deaths due to killer whales throughout the world. The main reason this is said to be true is because killer whales, which can grow to be more than 30 feet long and weigh up to...

Sustainable Agriculture Extension Manual

...Introduction Millions of African smallholders—farmers, herders and fisherfolk—are resource-poor and suffer from food insecurity. Their low incomes mean they are unable to make investments and take on risks. Their agricultural systems are buffeted by sudden, acute shocks caused by natural and man-made hazards—drought, flooding, erosion, conflicts. Long-term trends, in part the result of international markets, national policy decisions and institutional frameworks, often move against them. The food-security problem is not merely an inability to produce enough food to keep pace with population growth. Such a simplistic reckoning fails to take into account the ecological, cultural, social and economic features which are the bedrock of sustainable agriculture. Environmental degradation and a diminishing resource base seriously affect African farmers who depend on rainfed agriculture. As critical watersheds are deforested, water supplies have become unreliable and the climate less predictable. Local actors are seldom consulted when agricultural policies are formulated. Small-scale farmers (especially women) find it hard to get credit, seeds and other inputs, and the information they need to farm their land in a profitable, sustainable way. Some governments still control the prices of key farm outputs, and unscrupulous traders manipulate the prices of others. In addition, political instability is a major obstacle to food security and sustainable agriculture in many countries. Access...

Providian

...Harvard Business School 9-398-008 Rev. June 7, 1999 Providian Trust: Tradition and Technology (A) A New CEO Within two weeks of accepting the position of CEO of Providian Trust Company, Stephen Walsh, a lawyer by training, faced an unusual corporate conflict and he would have to play the role of judge. There was an extraordinary difference of opinion between Providian Trust’s internal auditor, Peter Storey, and the leaders of a major information technology (IT) project in the trust division. “Peter’s extremely vocal point ran to the issue of documentation, that it was incomplete and should be brought up to speed,” explained Walsh. The conflict reached a climax during an Audit Committee meeting on May 13, 1995, when members of the committee, who were all on the Providian Trust board of directors, expressed to Walsh that they had lost confidence in the internal auditor and recommended that the external auditor, Steinman & Smith, do an analysis of the project documentation prior to implementation. The purpose of the project was to convert the trust division’s outdated information system into a more efficient system using Access Plus, new trust and custody management software made by Select One. The project had been initiated in 1993 under a former CEO, who had been dismissed by the board, and had continued under an interim CEO. By the time Walsh arrived on the scene, over two-thirds of the $18 million budget had been invested in the implementation of the IT...

Education Psychology

...B. F. Skinner Burrhus Frederic (B. F.) Skinner (March 20, 1904 – August 18, 1990) was an American psychologist, behaviorist, author, inventor, and social philosopher.[1][2][3][4] He was the Edgar Pierce Professor of Psychology at Harvard University from 1958 until his retirement in 1974.[5] Skinner believed that human free will is an illusion and that any human action is the result of the consequences of the same action. If the consequences are bad, there is a high chance that the action will not be repeated; however if the consequences are good, the actions that led to it will become more probable.[6] Skinner called this the principle of reinforcement.[7] The use of reinforcement to strengthen behavior he called operant conditioning. As his main tool for studying operant conditioning Skinner The Skinners’ grave at Mount Auburn Cemetery invented the operant conditioning chamber, also known as the Skinner Box.[8] Skinner developed his own philosophy of science called radical behaviorism,[9] and founded a school of experimental research psychology—the experimental analysis of behavior. His analysis of human behavior culminated in his work Verbal Behavior, as well as his philosophical manifesto Walden Two, both of which still stimulate considerable experimental research and clinical application.[10] Contemporary academia considers Skinner a pioneer of modern behaviorism along with John B. Watson and Ivan Pavlov. Skinner emphasized rate of response as a dependent variable in psychological...

He hopes that he has done this with sufficient modesty. As a rule he has avoided direct controversy and has preferred a positive presentation of the revised position. He is well aware that when offered thus silently the corrections he desires to make are less likely to attract immediate attention than if he directly challenged fallacies which shelter under honoured names. But he writes from mere love of the subjects to which he has been drawn by the circumstances of his position and by local patriotism ; and he has experienced more than once the temporary blindness pro- duced by the dust of conflict. On the other hand he asks for criticism, conscious as he is of his own limitations and desirous of help from the wider knowledge and more practised judgement of professed students of the very varied matters with which he has had to deal. Two of the Essays are of much more than local interest. William of Malmesbury's Enquiry into the Antiquity of the Church of Glaston- bury is a byword among the historians. The great Homer...
