80 percent of the world powers on fossil fuels and natural gases. Everyday large amounts of Co2 are emitted into the air. Miami should not be one of those cities surrounded by smog and numerous other deadly side effects of the burning of fossil fuels . Ocean currents / tidal energy and photovoltaic energy would bring many benefits to Miami, Florida. These sources would work very well in Miami, Florida because Miami is a very big city, that is sunny most of the time. These are important factors because tidal energy has an energy efficiency percentage of 80 percent, according to the Ocean Energy Council, which means it can produce enough energy for a big city. Since Miami is sunny most of time, solar panels are able to produce the maximum energy possible because all they need to produce energy is direct …show more content…
Solar or photovoltaic energy uses the thermal energy from the sun to be transformed into electrical energy. Tidal energy has many advantages and disadvantages that impact a city’s decision to install tidal turbines. Some disadvantages include the structures can be very expensive and difficult to maintain. Advantages include, tidal turbines being 50 percent more efficient than traditional fossil fuels, it is very reliable because tides never stop so the turbines would be producing energy constantly. To the contrary of tidal energy, photovoltaic energy is on a fast cost decline and would be much less expensive. Furthermore, solar energy is one of the easiest sources to maintain which would oppose tidal energy’s difficult maintenance. Also, photovoltaic energy is not especially efficient so the high efficiency of tidal energy would make up for it. Photovoltaic energy is obviously not very reliable because when the sun doesn’t shine it is unable to produce electricity, this would be made up by tidal energy’s

Renewable energy uses energy sources that are continually replenished by nature—the sun, the wind, water, the Earth’s heat, and plants. Today we primarily use fossil fuels to heat and power our homes and fuel our cars. It’s convenient to use coal, oil, and natural gas for meeting our energy needs, but we have a limited supply of these fuels on the Earth. We’re using them much more rapidly than they are being created. Even- tually, they will run out.
