The indications range from “whore” to “cheeky” to “matronly.” If the skirt is too long, the woman is too much of a prude; if the skirt is too short, she is labeled as a “whore” or “slut” as shown in the picture. Not a single length is labeled “acceptable.” “Proper” is an older term that refers to a woman protecting her innocence during that time period, and society today does not want the American woman to protect her innocence any longer. According to the picture, there is no skirt length society would deem appropriate. Women then must deal with every negative remark thrown at them when they wear a skirt.
