The Sperm and the Egg

Trace the movements of the sperm and the egg from their development to fertilization.
While a man (John) and women (Nancy) comment the act of sexual affairs, the women has to be in a productive state and her body will discharge one egg for the sperm to residence. John will discharge anywhere from 100 million to 300 million sperms in one conference of intercourse, His sperm must first make their way thru the cervix into the uterus then on to the fallopian tube, the liquid portion of the semen not only provide the sperm but is also use as a nourishment for the journey into the and then swim thru the fallopian tube. As the sperm make it journey they will start to die off, not all sperm will make it to the egg there can only be one victor in this story. There will be a few thousand that will get close during the trip and as they get close the will start to change their patterns with alteration of their heads. The liquid portion of the semen also provides directions for the sperm so they will not wander too far off the path. Any sperm that has not successfully made it thru the cervix is not going to make the complete journey and will release out of the Nancy body after the sex act.
For the sperm that make it thru the cervical canal it is greatly welcomed environment the sperm will find that there is an abundance of cervical mucus, the mucus will transport the sperm when you are in your more productive state. As Nancy move toward ovulation her copious mucus becomes clear, stretchy and also thin. This process help the sperm arrive to their destination. The sperm can only live for 2-3 days with in the Nancy reproductive system. John’s sperm only has 12-24 hours to fertilize her egg.
Once Nancy egg is fertilized it undergoes several diversions to form a structure call Zygote. This process happen in 5-7 days it moves into the uterus and it becomes the embryo. The rudiment implants itself and burrows into the endometrial. This is the pregnancy state. The Embryo develops in the fallopian tube for about 3 days then travel into the uterus and it goes thru the states of blastocyst. Nancy has now reached implantation.
Describe the function of each of the male and female internal and external sex organs in relation to the sperm and the egg.
The female reproductive system is intended to carry out numerous functions. It produces the female egg cells essential for reproduction, called the ova or oocytes. The structure is designed to transport the ova to the site of fertilization. Conception, the fertilization of an egg by a sperm, generally occurs in the fallopian tubes. The next step for the fertilized egg is to implant into the walls of the uterus, beginning the initial stages of pregnancy. If fertilization and/or implantation don’t take place, the system is designed to menstruate (the monthly shedding of the uterine lining). In addition, the female reproductive system produces female sex hormones that maintain the reproductive cycle.
The purpose of the external female reproductive structures the genitals is twofold: To facilitate sperm to penetrate the body and to defend the internal genital organs from infectious organisms. The main external structures of the female reproductive system include. Labia majora: The labia majora surround and protect the other external reproductive organs. Literally translated as "large lips," the labia majora are relatively large and fleshy, and are comparable to the scrotum in males. The labia majora contain sweat and oil-secreting glands. After puberty, the labia majora are covered with hair. Bartholin's glands: These glands are located besides the vaginal cavity and produce a fluid (mucus) secretion.Clitoris: The two labia minora meet at the clitoris, a small, thin-skinned protuberance that is comparable to the penis in males. The clitoris is sheltered by a fold of skin, called the prepuce, which is similar to the foreskin at the end of the penis. Like the penis, the clitoris is very sensitive to stimulation and can become erect. The internal reproductive organs in the female include: Vagina: The vagina is a passage that joins the cervix (the lower part of uterus) to the exterior of the body. It also is known as the birth canal. Uterus (womb): The uterus is a hollow, pear-shaped organ that is the home to a developing fetus. The uterus is separated into two parts: the cervix, which is the lower part that opens into the vagina, and the main body of the uterus, called the corpus. The corpus can easily expand to hold a developing baby. A direct through the cervix allows sperm to enter and menstrual blood to exit. Ovaries: The ovaries are miniature, oval-shaped glands that are positioned on either side of the uterus. The ovaries produce eggs and hormones. Fallopian tubes: These are slender tubes that are attached to the upper part of the uterus and serve as tunnels for the ova (egg cells) to travel from the ovaries to the uterus. Conception, the fertilization of an egg by a sperm, normally occurs in the fallopian tubes. The fertilized egg then moves to the uterus, where it implants into the coating of the uterine wall.
For men, the external reproductive organs include: Penis: This tubular well-built organ becomes filled with blood during stimulation, therefore making sexual interaction possible. Scrotum: This pouch-like sac hangs underneath the penis and encases the testes, or testicles. Testicles: These two oval shaped organs manufacture sperm cells and testosterone. While all men are born with all of their sexual organs, they don’t begin to function completely until puberty. The common age of puberty is approximately 12 years of age. During this time, hormone changes affect a boy’s gonads and create permanent changes that have typically been viewed through history as when a boy “becomes a man.” This development affects many changes, such as enlargement, muscular build, and hair growth on the genitals, face, and other parts of the body. In terms of reproduction, puberty signals the time when a man has fully-functioning sexual organs and is capable of procreation. The male testes create spermatozoa (sperm), which is released at sexual peak. This is known as ejaculation. The sperm leaves the penis in a blend of secretions designed to nourish and transport the cells into the female reproductive system for procreation. There are up to 300 million sperm cells in each ejaculation, but it only takes a single sperm cell to fertilize a woman’s egg.
The testes also produce the hormone testosterone that is directly absorbed into the bloodstream. Along with producing sperm and maintaining sexual function, testosterone also creates common features that physically distinguish men from women, such as facial hair, deeper voice, and more muscle mass and broader shoulder

Describe the role of the sex organs in fertilization.
The female origins consist of the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus and vagina, partnered with glands and external genital organs. The female reproductive system produces female hormones. It is accountable for produce and sustains the ova or eggs, and transfers the eggs to the Fallopian tube for fertilization with the sperm. It then transports the fertilized ova to a developmental atmosphere in the uterus for the fetus to develop and be delivered from the womb.
The male origins consist of internal and external structures that include the testicles, scrotum, penis, and duct system. These male organs are accountable for manufacture, maintenance and transport of the sperm and seminal fluid, as well as its deposit into the female reproductive region. The testicles create and accumulate millions of sperm cells for the fertilization of the ova. The duct system is a muscular tube beside the testicles; it is called the vas deferens that transports semen. The vas deferens is connected to the epididymis, a set of coiled tubes. The scrotum houses the testicles and epididymis, and controls the warmth of the testicles. This permits the creation of sperm cells.
