The Impact of personal finance and behavior on television

The impact of our personal finance has been affected by our society, culture, economy, moral and ethics behavior all our life’s with the use of the television. Television has a very important part of our lives as humans. It how we get our latest new, deals, entertainment even communication. But how does the television impact our personal finance? Without the television there would not be any TV ads and what do TV ads do try and get customer to buy new products. Industries spend millions, even billions of dollars to win our hearts and minds, and to influence our choices towards their products and ideas.
According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube. The number of TV commercials seen by the by age 65 is 2 million. (Norman Herp) But why are commercial ads use and are important? One reason they give us as costumer’s information we may not know on product we want to buy. Like when Toyota is having a new car deal or when Macys is having a one day sale. How the new IPhone is 5g and the day it comes out. All the television commercials give us information on item we think we may need or have an interest in.
But the way some of the television ads are advertised can have a negative way of influencing our decision making. The media influence our decisions with repeated exposure over time to similar messages makes it easy for people to accept them as true, and more importantly, act as though they're true, even when they 'know' the messages are false. Just consider how often television ads are repeated. The companies behind the ads are only too willing to pay for such repetition. Because it works! (McDermott)
The second type is more subtle. Many companies now use famous people to advertise their products. Organizations will publicize the fact that a celebrity agrees with their standpoint. Because they understand how the general public holds celebrities in high regard and more importantly, how this high regard gets spread across contexts. So, for example, if a favorite athlete or pop star is endorsing some food product it must be good simply because that person is endorsing it, or when Michel Jordan is paying call of duty modern war fair where going to do by it because if he paying the game has to be cool. But the way the television is used has not changed as much seen the television was created in 1920 but didn’t get popular till the 1940. In the 1940s, the three networks – NBC, CBS and ABC – were "networks" in name only. All of the programming originated, live, in New York. The only way the networks had to distribute the shows to the rest of the nation was to point a film camera at a television screen and convert video to film. These 16mm films, known as kinescopes, were then duplicated and shipped to the few affiliated stations for broadcast later. By necessity, most programming was local, and cooking shows, wrestling and cartoons took up most of the broadcast day.
Between 1949 and 1969, the number of households in the U.S. with at least one TV set rose from less than a million to 44 million. The number of commercial TV stations rose from 69 to 566. The amount advertisers paid these TV stations and the networks rose from $58 million to $1.5 billion. (Wessels living History Farm)
Between 1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the U.S. with at least one TV went from 88 percent to 96 percent. By 1970, there were around 700 UHF and VHF television stations; today there are 1,300. By 1970, TV stations and networks raked in $3.6 billion in ad revenues; today, that figure is over $60 billion. (Wessels living History Farm). The good about having televisions is the ads via good advertising or bad advertising is a supply and demand field. It supplies jobs, higher tax pay and a uplift in the economy which brings consumers more consumers means more profit wider expansion’s. With advertisements there are some positive traits there’s competitions between companies this is advertising which takes place on build boards and televisions with high tech demand to basic jewelry to house ware to car supplies etc. now days televisions are more high tech “the supply and demand” from basic televisions, high definition, wide, flat, touch screen with that comes the internet online shopping and in store shopping the consumer rates, manufacturing, advertisements rates all rise and with that this makes it an equal balance if the economy advertise everything from high tech gadgets to home ware even children toys and games find the common attraction in a community causes more consumers more consumers mean competitors creates a better society of hard workers higher taxes means less debt there is no real fact if advertising is good or bad there’s so many different things to enfranchise on that there’s always an opportunity bigger and better TV’s bigger better advertisings meaning, more demand’s, productions manufacturing stock increase economy increase job wise which means better house sales, car sales, education sales, it’s a cycle of the “consumer” society without these things doing their part on the economy chain without consumer attraction.

...The TV By Ben Loory “The TV” is a short story written by Ben Loory, and his story was published in the April 12, 2010. First I will look at the course of events in this story. The story “The TV” is about a man, who stays home one day suddenly from his work. On this day he discovers that there is a special TV channel about himself or his life - but it could be his other self he had. After that the man becomes very engrossed with the TV show. In time he saw reflections of himself of the man's world in the TV show. At one point, he discovers that he chews on his lips on TV, so he starts trying to stop chewing her lips in his really life - not in the TV show, causing his other self to stop chewing his lips. And yet, his other self is different, better. He reads intellectual books, asks his boss for a raise, hosts corporate meetings and his “real self” begins to feel jealous. The author also used religious words in this story, such as the word "God," when he says: "My God.” This could symbolizes that he thinks that he is his God, because he is different, but there are still some who are like him, but maybe he has not felt.
