Personal responsibility is directly correlated to our personal beliefs and moral

standards that we have been taught as kids and young adults. I believe that if our

parents, family and even our teachers didn’t teach us to have strong morals and

personal beliefs than as adults we might not be as responsible as we should be. I don’t

believe that all adults are complete products of their childhood, but our childhood starts

us on a path and we either choose to follow or not.

Taking responsibility for our own actions and owning up to your mistakes is some

of the best ways of showing you are a responsible person. When we make decisions,

sometimes we aren’t aware of who our decisions affect, for instance we might choose to

not show up to class on time or to not do our school work, If we continue down this path

we will not get a passing grade. This not only affects ourselves, but it will also have a

negative affect on everyone that we come in contact with.

I had to take a good long look in the mirror when writing this and realize that I

have two major hurdles to overcome. First and foremost my time management skills will

need to become a lot better and second I will have to learn how to handle the stressors

of not attending any schools in the past twenty five years. My preliminary plan is to get a

organizer and to take a look at my week, I bet there is a lot of wasted time in my

schedule, then I will take a look at my daily schedule and see where I can trim down

more of my wasted time and begin to set aside time to get my assignments done and in

a timely manner. I was a great planner of my work schedule and my subordinates, and I

need to adopt some of that way of thinking to my personal and college life now to

ensure that I am as successful my college life.
