Ravensbruck is a place where experiments take place. Not just any experiments, but the ones that the Nazis did. The ones that they did not get anesthesia for, the ones they either died or got in infection from.(Alyssa Johnson) The war was happening, and the Nazis were running out of soldiers. ”In order to carry out these goals, sections of bone were removed from the subjects, legs were removed at the hips, shoulders and arms were removed, and muscles and nerves were removed from healthy patients.” (Vivien Spitz) So with the ones they did have, if they got hurt they had to be fixed. They took out the muscle of healthy victims and studied them to see what would happen to the muscle itself. They broke up the muscles and studied them. Nerve surgery is like muscle surgery. They do the same things to the nerves as they do to the muscle. They remove it from the victims and studied them to see what would happen. Nerves however, were also transplanted into other victims that have lost a nerve. So, they took muscles and nerves out of healthy workers and either studied them out put them in another victim to see if it would be successful.
Joint surgery is another surgery that they remove joints from healthy people and put them in another innocents. They would take specific joints out of people to study and to put in other people. To see if they could do it successfully.(Alyssa Johnson) Joint surgery was more popular than muscle and nerve because they needed these to help the wounded. Bone surgery is the biggest surgery they did. They removed bones from healthy people and put them in people that had a part removed or tore off.
