GE 2218 Third Reflection Paper

“Write your own script for your play” this is the most impressing point I have learnt form Mr. Ki ‘ s success on his career, which is also the major principle for his career management. In this talk, Mr. Ki shed light on the meaning of success from different perspectives and dimensions. I can tell from his career that he is satisfied with what he did in the past and what he is doing now.

There are two essential factors I can draw from his experience, reinvent your career and refine your life. For the points that he raised in this talk, I quite endorsed his unique perception on career that it is divided into three phases. “ Work for success”, “ work for significance” and “ work for legacy”. Apart from myself, I guess most of the people value ones’ success by wealth and positions. Mr. Ki , however, adds to that life structure, purpose, identity and significance. Exemplified by Mr. Ki ‘s career, he retreated from his respected working position just at the prime of his career simply because he wanted to do something meaningful, not only to his life but also to the whole society. So he transfers his prowess to help and engage in social enterprise project.

Reinventing one’s career is equally important in a sense that it helps put your career into perspective, and achieve a balance of life, just like what Mr. Ki mentioned, the second career, the parallel career and the social career. Besides, always reflect on you experience as well as have a full picture of career development beforehand. This is very instrumental to my effective management of a satisfactory and meaningful career.

On the basis of his career success, I have realized that the career vision we establish should be broad enough to be flexible, but specific enough to be actionable. This career vision, built on a profile of our unique traits, directs our choices to develop what we need to be satisfied and be able to successfully contribute in different work environments over the years. Perhaps a successful career management is just as a simple common sense that we easily exclude, that is Mr. Ki stressed in the first place, to “ Have A Dream”. Career is at the mercy of nobody and it is a personal life-long learning you will have an upper hand on.

Symmetry in Chinese Arts

...Symmetry in Chinese Arts Done by: Group 3 Lim Li Yan Yip Lixia, Sabrina Lee Weitian, Ivan Zhong Shengmin Goh Yoon Keong 1 CONTENTS • Introduction • Symmetry in Chinese Literature • Chinese Paper Cuttings • Symmetry in Chinese buildings • Chinese Music • Conclusion • Bibliography 2 Introduction “The use of the geometric principles of symmetry for the description and understanding of decorated forms represents the union of two normally separate disciplines – mathematics and design.” (Washburn et al., 1988) Symmetry has been used in countless contexts, and with diverse shades of meaning. Coming from the Greek symmetros, for "measured together," this word is most familiar to us as a description of the similarity between the two halves of any form separated by a dividing line or plane. The concept is not limited to science, of course. It has been, for example, a mainstay of aesthetics from the beginning. Thus we speak of the symmetry of the human face, we can all understand what it is and how it looks. Its influence in the arts is pervasive. In music, we hear the symmetry of exposition and recapitulation in the so-called sonata form, where virtually the same music is played and played again. The creation of identities or equivalents is at the heart of the principle of symmetry in music, as in the other arts. It is an emblem of the human predilection for just proportion in all things, and the longing for rational comprehension of anything encountered. In......

Personal Reflection on the Self Paper

...Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 1 Personal Reflection on the Self Paper By Joe Everett April 21, 2014 University of Phoenix Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 2 The study of one’s self is a part of social psychology. A person to person in social psychology is not the same as self, now if you asked someone to identify what is self their response will be different all the time because every person will tell you a different response. However, even with all the different responses it does not make any of the answer wrong, it has to do with the person’s perspective that determines what they feel is self, it is because of this we have to wonder how many self’s are we dealing with. If we asked a person that question, they might answer that more than one exists. With this kind of response it is correct because we have to see the inner self, interpersonal self, body self, and the social self. What is considered us or yourself is self-recognized and self identifies; however, what all of this means is that other peoples are not going to see you the same way. There are a couple different theories that deals with such effect and the illusion of transparency. There is what is called a spotlight effect, and this is when a person believes that everyone is looking at them, they think that everyone’s focusing all their attention on how one’s they look or even behavior like, but in reality not one is really paying......

... DEPT. 199 Reflection: Questions for Reflection 1. The first goal of DEPT. 199 is to teach you to locate, select, and document secondary source material relevant to your topic. What did you learn how to do that you didn’t know before about this kind of library/research work? Offer specific examples from work you completed as part of this class that demonstrates that you have achieved this goal. The most important thing I learned was that the library is so much more than a place to borrow books and study for midterms/finals. First, there is a librarian assigned to your major which is extremely helpful because they are like a mini expert on many of the topics you may need help on. Second, there are many databases with sources that are available online to Fisher students, which can help when doing any type of written submission for a class. Finally, I learned that Rochester has such a vast history that I knew absolutely nothing about before I stepped foot in the class. I used Kate Ross a few times to help locate additional sources for my project. I also used ProQuest extensively for newspaper articles I could use as sources, and I also used the State of Black Rochester book we had for class. 2. The second goal of DEPT 199 is to teach you how to analyze and incorporate research into your own argument, position, solution to a problem, or answer to a question. In what ways does your final research paper (the final draft)......

It is impossible to spend sufficient time on the works we will be exploring within the bounds of class-time, so you will be required to spend time reading and writing on your own; this is a practice that will enable you to bring your personal experiences with these works to our discussions in class and participate in an engaged way as part of our community of learning. But our community of learning is broader than the classroom—it also includes the community organizations you will be partnering with for your service-learning. We will be investigating and interrogating a versatile metaphor—cultivation—and how it impacts the cultures and communities in which we......

This internship opportunity encompasses tasks such as; Operations Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and human resources. It is through this exposure that the individual that obtains the position will experience an overall perspective of how a business functions. The idea about this paper is created for the intended purposes of providing an honest reflection of our thoughts about the interview. During the interview, I felt a tad nervous about the camera being pointed at me, it was in the interview that I had felt a certain unease about myself. This uneasiness was not only caused by tension of a camera pointed, but underlying factors that reflected moderate anxiety. As I left the interview, I had been confident that it had gone well, but recognized some minor facial expressions that I might have had made. When I viewed the video, I had noticed the facial expressions that I had made. In......
