Three most important characteristics
The most important characteristic in the work place is clearly identified what their core purpose is. A straightforward, concise mission statement is readily comprehensible and enthusiastically embraced by each and every employee. Such great workplaces have carefully identified those factors critical to their long-term success, for example, those services and/or facilities they must do, and continue to do, exceptionally well, as well as their specific vision for the future, what our workplace will likely be in five to ten years. To clearly assign duty and employee roles, great workplace need to develop detailed action plans and accompanying areas of responsibility to insure that their vision for the future is more than dream work; it is concrete, actionable, measurable and achievable.
Great workplaces have rules and policies that are reasonable, understandable, and, perhaps most importantly, fairly and uniformly enforced. For example, smoking is prohibited in the work environment, no one smokes: neither President nor dishwasher. The rules and policies at great workplaces are neither capricious nor arbitrary. They should write in common language which is used in company. For example, the policies should be written in English in California (not Mandarin Chinese or Spanish, or technical or mysterious language that specific people could comprehend). Generally, great workplaces embrace rules and policies that reflect the core values of the workplace as well as the expectations of the employees and customers in a fair and logical manner.
I believe great work support continuous learning organizations, and provide training and development opportunities for their employees from the CEO to the front desk receptionist on a regular basis. Training activities include regular opportunities to integrate the knowledge and skills learned into

A transactional approach to this study was chosen to better understand the meaning of the person-environment relationship. Eighteen interviews were conducted and surveys were collected from 94 patrons to reveal patron attitudes toward the physical and social aspects of the coffee shop as well as their feelings regarding the community in which they live. The key findings regarding the physical characteristics showed the top five design considerations included: cleanliness, appealing aroma, adequate lighting, comfortable furniture, and a view to the outside.
