16th may 2014 was a red letter day in lives of most of the Indians because as citizens we ensured the defeat of a corrupt and agenda-less government which had stopped being representative of India to say the least. The jubilant Indians had their long cherished, good riddance day. The New ruler had and still continues to have an impeccable integrity, a no-nonsense approach towards public service, and a past as Chief minister which would make any politician jealous of him. The Indians had found a panacea in Narendra Modi, who we sincerely believed would take our country to glorious heights. There is no doubt that new sant of Sabarmati has been incessantly trying to deliver whatever he had promised and he has considerable achievements in his kitty from his 18 months rule. India has become the fastest growing nation overtaking china. India has become an important player in global politics, a more proactive and pragmatic foreign policy. The govt has been able to ensure high growth with low inflation (food inflation though has been high) and that too with low fiscal deficit. The Indian policies are now being implemented in mission mode, the prominent examples being PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana) and Toilets in schools. We find no example in recent history of Indian schemes completed on time. In social sector, Accidental and life insurance at Rs12 and Rs 330 have come as a huge relief to the poor and the marginalized sections of society. Moreover in all these 18 months he has never made a single statement which can be construed as even being remotely communal. He has truly upheld the dignity of the office of The Prime Minister. Modi deserves Kudos for all these achievements.
This shining story has its other side also, which looks most unpleasant and ludicrous. The theory of Love Jihad, according to this theory, Muslim men are on a mission to get Hindu girls and to convert them into Islam. It is nothing but a figment of the imagination of an Islamophobic mind. The equally absurd is Ghar Wapsi movement which assumes all Muslims as converts from Hinduism and their so called reconversion to Hinduism is celebrated as Ghar wapsi. Forcible conversions or conversions by allurements are equally bad. The RSS and BJP have been fiercely critical of conversions by Missionaries and thus their participation in this preposterous practice defies all logic.
Moreover, The government has invited problems for itself by unnecessarily making controversial moves, the government first published the unamended preambleand then instead of tendering an apology Ravishankar Prasad urged the Nation to debate on relevance of secularism. Our foreign minister saying Gita should be made our national book, these are controversies without which government would have been better off . There have been so many unsavoury statements from the side of the ruling dispensation which have given new lease of life to opponents of BJP in general and of Modi in particular. These provocative statements have certainly vitiated the country’s environment.
The Dadri lynching and Murder of Jahid and Noman have certainly made minorities apprehensive. It is so farcical that instead of Akhilesh yadav , the BJP looks defensive on Dadri lynching.
While it can be understood that leftist ideologues have an agenda of blaming centre for everything under the sun, but that should make BJP more careful of not giving them any chance to do so, instead it has opted for a self-defeating strategy which is to say that, all these has been happening under the congress rule then why didn’t intellectuals and scientists return their awards? This argument compares BJP’s rule with that of congress that itself shows the fallacy of the argument. Moreover congress has been duly punished for its misdeeds; its numbers in Loksabha is a testimony to that fact
Mr. Prime Minister you have rekindled a hope of India’s bright future. There is an atmosphere of confidence in the world about Indian growth story. It is time you take the lead and show the fringe elements their rightful place, your treatment of Togadia post-2002 clearly show that you are among the best in this business.
Swaminathan Aiyer in his article recently recalled his conversation with Atal ji which has a profound lesson for current regime. Aiyer asked Atal Ji before 1998 election that BJP has put Ayodhya, Artcile 370 and Uniform civil Code in the cold storage, is not it dilution Atal Ji? To which Atal Ji replied “We started as a small north Indian party. As we expand to new regions and groups, we must accommodate the concerns of the new sections. This is not dilution, it is evolution!” It appears time is ripe to follow RajDharma Prime Minister
