Top 100 Essay Upon examining the world, one will find many great people who have shaped the one we live in today. Despite the significance of them all, it is important to be able to narrow them down to a list of one hundred or so. From there, the true test is to be able to tell which person had a bigger effect on our state of being than the other. Starting with a list that has already been compiled, this essay will rank each historical figure by their impact on the world. (Please note that this list was compiled based on a western perspective.) Topping the list at #1 is Muhammad. As the Prophet of Islam, Muhammads, s.a.w, teachings have reached and inspired many societies and their people. His teachings also indicate the best way to think and therefore live. At #2 is Jesus Christ, whose place as the central figure of Christianity has impacted the lives of his believers, all 2 billion of them (give or take). His existence has lead to the many holidays and churches that occupy mainly, western society. At #3 is Gautama Buddha, who is the spiritual teacher and founder of Buddhism. Lord Buddha has played a large role in the growth of many people of asian descent and offers a religion to the world that can be seen as very peaceful. At #4 is David, King of Israel or rather the Biblical King of Israel. As the founder of Jerusalem, he has empowered the Jewish nation to take on a large amount of influence in various aspects of the world, including the entertainment industry. At #5 is Ali, the founder of Sufism. Ali is a central figure in Sufism due to being anearly Caliph, expanding the religious world. Continuing the list at #6 is Joseph Smith, Jr.. Therefore, all this set of principles applies in any of the fields of business (marketing, finance…) and people inevitably face ethical decisions in their every day working lives. The aim is to make every employee adhere to these standards because obviously, it is more profitable for a company to be ethical in business. But, as ethical issues are linked to decision-making, how can all decisions be ethical and above all whose responsibility is it? Therefore, we could wonder if business ethics is a personal responsibility or a group responsibility. We are going to divide this essay into two parts, the thesis and the antithesis, in order to determine whether or not business ethics is a personal responsibility. We can write a custom essay on Business Ethics for you! Values are very important as they are the core of our culture. 500 Best Essay

...What a delight reading all the 500 word essay submissions was! I was surprised at how many I received – over 100! And those were just the people who took this challenge and motivated – I know many more may have felt intimidated or overwhelmed by the assignment, or as if doing such a thing was beyond their ken. Here’s what I look for in a good essay: a beginning, a middle and an end, a provocative or revealing subject, an intimacy in the writing, and an essay that leaves me either having learned or felt something. I love essays that are courageous and confessional. I love essays that make me crave the outcome and wonder where it’s all leading. I ADORE essays that open with a provocative statement. The winning essay opens with this: My father didn’t recognize his sister when he carried her on the stretcher to the ambulance. What the what? Who could resist reading the rest? I couldn’t. Essay writing may be new for many of you but I encourage you to continue to work on that skill set. How can you jump start your essay with a provocative or interesting opening statement? How can you summarize your thesis in a way that satisfies us mightily? How can you tease us along and make us crave the outcome? Writing something in only 500 words is a creative exercise both in restraint and in meaning. These essays would have been significantly less compelling if another 250 words were added – unless the thesis at the top of each essay were more complex. The word count limit (again, a......

...Cassie Nichols Richard Berrigan Jr. English 100-51 22 March 2015 Describe how you concentrate on homework I have always had an issue with concentrating on homework for a very long time. Ever since I was in elementary, I would procrastinate or not do it at all. In my years of elementary, middle, and high school I’ve learned that I am a visual/audio learner and I need to prioritize my homework, as to organize and prepare everything that I may need before starting, and lastly but most importantly is my environment to which I do my homework in. I know for a fact that I am not the only one in the world that has issues with prioritizing or procrastinating on homework. What I have found that works for me is to lay out all of my classes’ homework and go from there. I will then look at due dates, what all is entailed in completing the assignments and how long I think it will take me to complete them. I think this is very important in prioritizing my homework or even staying on top of reading the chapters in my classes. For instance, one of my number one priorities right now would be writing an essay that is due by Friday in English class. Since I am very detailed it is very easy for me to get prepared and organized for what I need to do for my classes, once I take the time to do so. Before starting the essay, I will print out all of my examples pertaining to the essay. Second I will think about what I am going to write about and brain storm, like some outlines, how to......

Essay's Are the Best or Nah?

...Essays are the Best or Nah? Reading Rebeccas article she says “humanist insist writing leads to the crafting of sharp argumentative skills”, but this skill is not necessarily needed for each trade. This leads me to ask are essays really relevant as a college or high school student. Essays are hated by students and teachers. The fact that most people hate essays have raised the question can this issue be solved? First of all teachers hate grading essays. It’s very time consuming, student papers highly outnumber the teachers. College essays can be long as 100 pages. Grading a 100 page essay for 15-20 students can get extra stressful if you ask me. Not to mention that they actually have a life to live. Rebecca stated in her article that “I’ve graded drafts and assigned rewrites, and that helps the good students get better, but the bad students, the ones I’m trying to help, just fail to turn in any drafts at all. Meanwhile, I come up for air and realize that with all this extra grading, I’m making 75 cents an hour.” I can definitely sympathize with teachers on this issue. To fix this problem I would suggest that the teachers could assign grading assistants (Students that actually like writing and are top of the class) this would allow the teachers more time to live life, tutor and relieve some of the stresses of grading. Although essays are assigned students still are not learning to write factual papers. Looking back at Schuman’s article she quotes that her......
