Topic: How does transformational leadership help to shape the vision mission and objectives of a changing organization?

The name transformational leadership is sometimes meant to denote the transformation of team members from a focus on individual goals to a commitment to the goals of the organization. A transformational leadership is one that does have the objective, mission and vision of the organization in mind. A transformational leader is effective because she/he is visibly undergoing his/her own transformation. Leadership as this take full responsibility for their self. They recognize they are imperfect and will make mistakes-this person can forgive him/herself and is free from any burden of guilt or shame. Transformational Leader accepts the humanity of others, that even when people try their hardest they will also make mistakes. This leadership has no interest in blaming or personal judgment. Transformational Leadership provides such positive examples they do not have to look for followers or persuade others, followers find them because they can learn from them. When you have a transformational leadership setting then the organization objective, vision and mission is the starting point of managerial actions. Mission statement defines the organization’s purpose and primary objectives. Mission statement, vision and objectives are the starting points of an organization strategic planning and goal setting process. The strategic plan goals are what a transformational leadership should have. The Plan goals are assigned an owner (usually an individual but sometimes a group), a time frame is determined and a measurable outcome is assigned. Those goals are used for transformational Leadership and employee annual performance reviews and provide the alignment and the plan for the coming year. In the Yukl (1994) “Transformational Leadership” is the process of influencing major changer in the attitudes and assumptions of organizational members and building commitment of the organization’s mission, objectives and strategies. They are able to cultivate the acceptance of the group mission by their follower through intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. The transformational leaders have a six-stage process than shape the Vision, Mission and Objectives. 1) creating and communicating the need for change… 2) overcoming resistance to change, 3) making personal commitment and sacrifices for changes… 4) articulating a vision, 5) generating commitment to the vision…6) institutionalizing the vision. According to Oakley & Kruy (1991) the transformational Leadership not only have the vision of the organization but also have the ability to get their employees to accept ownership for that vision as their own, thus developing the commitment to carry it through to completion. The Transformational leaders activities don’t need to have the vision themselves; they need only to possess the willingness and ability to draw the vision from their employees and inspire and empower them to do what it takes to bring the vision into reality. Again a successful transformational leadership plays a significant role in the shaping and development and maintenance of the organization. Organization often encounters challenges and issues pertaining to the relationship between leadership styles and organizational culture. The transformational leadership allows constantly looking into the future for new possibilities. This is what a mission, vision and objective of an organization should be about. This type of leadership is a changer of context (change people’s frame if reference or thinking so that they see new opportunities that were not notice in the vision. They stand-up for, speak to, and hold the organizations accountable to its vision and mission. Creators of new organizational capabilities. The objective, vision and mission of an organization is set up to be unique. And so transformational leadership always wanting the organizational to be different unique and exceptional. Always working to build organizations that are more self managing (all they need to do is point the organization in the right direction and they go by themselves). This leadership inspires others to reach their potential in the context of the work that needs to the done to achieve the organization’s vision and mission. Transformational leaders engage their organization member with uplifting spirit that will motivate you to perform your task effectively. With transformational leadership the organization will stick to their objectives, mission and vision in their organizations. With a changing organization you need transformational leaderships. With this development that allows members to sustain the company’s performance levels by adhering to the requirements set by the leader. Overall, transformation Leadership allows distinct development of the company, securing its performance levels with productivity and performance development. For many reasons, transformational leadership is an important factor at both the micro, or individual level, and macro, or organizational, societal level. They help a company meet new challenges, such as during a company’s reorganization, strategic redirection or downsizing. Transformational leadership is more effective than transactional leadership. For instance, it can effectively be applied to militaristic, industrial, hospital and educational settings. Its also applied frequently to businesses. Transformation leadership can improve the capability of a sales force, help a company reshape its image in the marketplace and create a positive environment for employees.
