Towel’s Troubles and the Feeling Machine

Towel was sitting alone in the cafeteria. He had no friends because he was a new student at Greenleaf Elementary. He moved to Canada because there was a war in his homeland.
During the first day of school, the teacher was doing the attendance and Towel’s name was next to be called. She called his name hesitantly, and a few classmates giggled. Towel was very embarrassed, but said, “Yes, that’s me.” The teacher then continued with the attendance and started teaching the class.
Two hours passed, and the kids got to go outside for Daily Physical Activity (DPA). Towel was sitting alone on a bench near the playground. A group of kids started making fun of his name. One of the kids whose name is Percy said, …show more content…
He went upstairs and heard Towel crying. As he walked inside his bedroom, he asked, “Do you want to see my newest, latest invention in my secret lair?” just to cheer him up.
Towel said quietly, “Sure.”
They went downstairs, and Uncle said, “I’ve made this Feeling Machine that zaps how someone else gets hurt.” Towel loved this invention!
The next day, Towel invited some classmates over to his home to show his uncle’s invention. Percy and another friend Daphne came over. Percy wanted to try the invention. Uncle asked him to step inside the machine. Percy agreed, “Sure!” He watched what had happened to Towel at the playground and got zapped when he heard his own self say rude comments about Towel. Percy started crying. He came out of the machine with a new understanding about bullying. Percy told him that all bullies should go into Uncle’s Feeling Machine!
In the end, all who bullied him realized how hurtful words can be very cruel. They also found out after getting to know Towel that he really was a cool kid after all! He had taught all of them about the war and how he was a survivor from his country. They had a new understanding about how precious their lives were here in
