In order to provide the best patient care, health professionals should invest in educational opportunities that give them up to date knowledge and skills.

Traditionally, many people assume that a hospital and other health institution are the safer work environment compared with other type of work. Healthcare worker also viewed as a professionals who able to maintaining their health without assistance. However, unfortunately, healthcare worker were expose to dangerous environment and hazards, including needle stick injuries, carcinogenic agents, latex allergies, violence and stress. The rate of occupational injury among healthcare worker was gradually increased. So, the awareness of occupational safety and health (OSH) plays an important role in the prevention of occupational injuries and diseases in Malaysia. In Malaysia, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) was function to promote safety and health awareness, safety and health culture among the Malaysian culture. There have been many improvements since the enactment of this act like OSH service, education, promotion and research. OSH awareness plays a crucial role to prevent occupational injuries and disease among healthcare professional. Many awareness activities can be used to build positive and good attitude and enhance safe behaviors among workers.

Each worker must fully understand occupational risk and danger in order to take care of their own health and safety. Many methods can be used to prevent and minimize occupational hazard such as safe work practices, appropriate tools, work organization and supplying enough information to the workers. Workers should well informed about hazards and adequately trained to carry out their tasks safely.
