Treasure Island

...phenomenal author Robert Louis Stevenson, has written many novels throughout his life but he is most remembered for his classic Treasure Island. Greed is one of the human’s defective qualities that cannot be erased nor disregarded. Trust is being able to rely on someone without fearing betrayal. Adventure is needed in everyone’s lives, to live a life free of regret. The life of a hero is something everyone desires. Treasure Island is classic novel that proves it through its relatable themes, life changing lessons, powerful archetypes, and universal symbols. Without greed the world would be at peace, and as one, but since everyone desires something that they don’t have, such as wealth, power or fame, problems are created. Greed is an important and major theme that is presented throughout Treasure Island and our everyday lives. This amazing classic novel, illustrates how greed is a trait that leaves misery and death on its destructive path. The plot of this novel is based on finding pirate treasure and it revolves around the universal theme of greed. The adventure begins with Billy, a mutineer who fled with treasure from his previous crew to keep for himself. Pythagorean Quadratic Treasure Hunters

...Pythagorean Quadratic Treasure Hunters Pythagorean Quadratic Treasure Hunters Introduction to Algebra   Treasure Hunters Ahmed and Vanessa both have possession of one half of a complete treasure map. Ahmed’s map shows the treasure is buried in the desert 2x + 6 paces from Castle Rock. Vanessa’s map shows the treasure buried at x paces to the north and 2x + 4 paces to the east. When the two combine information, the location of the buried treasure is going to be a lot easier to find and they can share in the booty loot that they discover. Castle Rock is the lowest left point of the hypotenuse and at the bottom of the left leg and the treasure is at the furthest right point of the right leg. To factor the equation we start with the following, X2+(2x + 4)2 = (2x+6)2 Using the Pythagorean Theorem, a2+2ab+b2 i get a compound X2 +(4x216x+16)=4x2+24x+36 equation. It is then necessary to simplify using the quadratic 5x2+16x+16=4x2+24x+36 equation ax2-bx+c=0 so that I can factor. (x2+2)(x-10)=0 everything is set to zero for the zero factor X = 10 solve for x Plugging the x value for a, b, and c to the legs or the hypotenuse and what this does is it gives me the equation of how many paces it is to the treasure A= 10 B=2(10)+4 = 20+4 = 24 C=2x+6 = 2(10)+6 = 26 In conclusion, castle rock is located at the bottom left of a right hand triangle, and the treasure is 26 paces northeast of......

...There was once a young prince and his brother who were next in line for the royal throne. Before they could be king, they had to each pass a challenge. They were given a steel sword, a shield, and full body armor to complete the first challenge. The oldest brothers’ challenge was to steal a chest full of treasures, such as diamonds and gold, which was guarded by three young dragons. The prince left for the dragons den at once and began to ransack the entire place in search of the treasure. He first searched in the treasure room. He first searched in the treasure room because that was the most logical place to look, but all he found was a few scattered gold coins around the room. He then went to the living area of the dragons den and looked around a bit, and then he saw it, a large chest held together by gold. The prince went over to the chest and opened it up and looked inside. He saw thousands of sparkling diamonds and shining gold bars. Just as he closed the chest and prepared to lift it up, he heard something flying through the air, so he turned to see a large, black tail coming towards him at high speeds, He just had time to crouch down as the tail flew over his head and crashed into the wall behind him. When the prince pulled himself up, he stood facing three angry dragons. The largest one was black, which is the one that tried to kill him. The , flew away. and said to him “I am sorry for this brother” and he stabbed him again, but before the price died he asked his......

Treasure

...Golden Treasure I have visited the Metropolitan Museum many times and still seem to be amazed by the beauty that surrounds me. It is common to see paintings and sculptures, but not so ordinary to be able to view beautiful pieces of gold jewels. Gold jewelry is a symbol of power, royalty, high class and pure elegance and this room at the MET displaying different pieces is exactly that. I choose this piece because not only was I drawn to its beauty but it also reminded me of pieces my mother and her mother wore during their weddings. This piece is a pure depiction of elegance and grandiose status. The Nose Ornament was from the Yotoco period in Colombia during the 1st -7th centuries. Nose ornamentation is one of the earliest forms of beautifications used during Pre-Colombian times. They were made in a variety of materials, however during this period they put a strong emphasis on exquisite gold objects in which became a primary way they exemplified their social status and relationships as well as their beliefs. The gold jewelry ranged in various sizes, from small rings to larger headpieces. This piece was one of the larger Yotoco gold pieces because it was believed to have covered the lower portion of the face. A pure symbol of elegance and power through the gold and an item of awareness through the dangling rectangles. Not only was this a beautiful piece of jewelry but it had various meanings behind it. During the Yotoco period, gold marked a difference in class in the......

Bago Tribe Term Paper

...I have wondered before if I will have the chance to see the real beauty of life that I can’t find here in the busy city. But at last, after almost two hours of travel, I have seen what I am looking for; the clean river, the cold breeze, the leafy trees and the welcoming smiles of the Bago tribe, such an amazing treasures behind the mountains. Maybe it is the treasure in the end of every rainbow I see. For the pot of gold lie in the hearts of the tribe, their culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of the people. Despite of the developing municipality of Suyo, their culture remained; it is not damaged by the changes. They made sure that their culture will not die by letting the children learn in mind and heart their wonderful culture. The smiles in faces of the children showed that they really love what they are learning. It is soothing to the ears to hear their angelic voices; their ethnic dances made me forget the contemporary dances and how they beat their bamboo instruments made me feel the magic of nature. Even if I cannot understand what they are singing, I felt that they sing to show how proud they are to be part of the Bago tribe and to be thankful of all the blessings that God had given them. They gave thanks that day through a ritual, and a pig was butchered that I think is a sign of their respect and belief to the Lord. Every song they have sung reflected how they live their life in the past and now. I am amazed how they used bamboo cylinders as water......

Story

...One day Peter found a treasure map. He decided to find this treasure, and have some adventure! Peter set off. He walked a long way and finally reached a forest. There he met Lion. “You are strong and courageous,” said Peter to Lion. “Will you come with me on a treasure hunt?” Lion agreed and joined Peter. The forest was dense and dark. Peter was afraid but with Lion by his side, he made it through. When the two finally reached the mountain they met Eagle. “You have excellent vision and can alert us to dangers,” said Peter to Eagle. “Will you come with us? We’re looking for a treasure.” Eagle agreed and joined Peter and Lion. The mountains were tall and craggy. Lion slipped but Peter was swift enough to give him a hand and pull him up. Eagle with his sharp vision watched every step they took. Soon, they reached the valley below where they met Sheep. “Will you join us in our search for treasure?” Peter asked Sheep, “and keep us warm when it’s cold?” Sheep agreed and joined Peter, Lion and Eagle. A cold wind swept across the endless meadow. They all huddled against Sheep who kept them warm and cozy. The four finally reached the desert where they met Camel. " You are called the ship of the desert,” said Peter to Camel, “will you help us get across and join the treasure hunt too?” Camel agreed. All exclaimed in surprise. Peter, Lion and Sheep mounted the camel and happily set off across the vast desert with Eagle enjoying the spectacle from above. Camel began galloping and......

Oak Island

...Oak Island's Money Pit Mystery Who will be the next treasure hunter to squander all of their money in search for a possible treasure on the bottom of a pit when hundreds of people tried without success for centuries to reach the bottom of the "Money Pit"? Is the next treasure hunter going to be able to stop the flow of the water that is preventing anybody from reaching the bottom of the pit? No one has been able to stop the water and solving the mystery for over two hundred years. Yet engineers, rich people, divers, builders and even a U.S President tried very hard to discover what is buried on the bottom of the pit. Is it possible that it could be Captain William Kidd's treasure? Could it be the crown jewels of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinetter? In my research paper I will first be explaining about the history of the mysterious "Oak Island "Money Pit". Next I will be explaining some of the techniques that were used to dig up and dry up the "Money pit". Finally I will present three theories of the content of the pit and how the seawater keeps seeping in the pit. From what i been reading although many interesting things have been found in the pit which are supporting the idea of something special being buried there, no finding up to this point has been conclusive. Everything started when a mere boy was hunting on a deserted island off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada in 1795. In "Mystery Island Baffles Treasure Hunters" by Edwin Teale, he explains how, "One day, early in......

Lost Treasure

...Halimatu Sadiat Bello A00014631 Wri 101-8 Cause and Effect Essay 7th November, 2012. A Lost Treasure Losing someone very important in your life can be like losing a delicate part of your body memories of some person held at a very high esteem can be heart breaking. I reminisced the last day of school so eager to get back home to the very person you want to see, touch, hug and are ready to have fun with that special person and just for you to get there and behold that person is long gone, taken away from you by one thing you hate so much and are scared of like hell, Death. I remembered that very day when Dave walked though that very door into our home, looking so healthy. So interested to know who he was seeing him for the very first time in my life, so I walked up to him and introduced myself to him as Halima and from that moment I made a new friend. We became so fond of each other and did everything together, so I asked him who is was to us on a fateful day when we both went swimming at a hotel close to our home but all he did was to ignore the question which I asked him, but I still maintained for an answer and I finally got one from him saying that he was my far distant cousin through my maternal side. Though I was aware of a long time cousin of my but to my greatest surprise it was Dave I was short of words at that very moment so I asked him what was the call of visit, and he was silent for twenty minutes, and then responded with a sad mood......

Movies

...National Treasure The action film National Treasure starring Nicholas Cage is known as a “drama filled action movie” (New York Times), but what most people don’t know is that it was also known for its historical and inspirational side. This movie is a triple threat with action, inspiration and history all combined into a fantastic hour and a half film. In an action movie there must be a chase of some kind and/or a hero and a villain. In National Treasure, it has Nicholas Cage as the hero and Sean Bean as the villain. These two character have a common goal of finding the next clue that leads to the treasure. There are multiple times that the hero gets beaten down, but the villain in the end always seems to never get the upper hand. As the movie went on, there were also times when the hero had to blur the lines in between good and evil for the greater good. For instance, when Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) was in the planning process of stealing the Declaration of Independence, he had to face the risk of being caught. During the movie, the audience feels a sense of inspiration to start their own adventure. The world of unknown is evident in this film during the search for the next astonishing clue. With every step the hero has to follow the clues, but also watch his/her back for the villain trying to steal what is not rightfully his/hers. For example, as Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) was entering the tomb underneath Wall St. he was being followed by Ian Howe (Sean Bean). Ian left......
